1974 Ford E100 Supervan Econoline V8, Automatic, Power Steering And A/c on 2040-cars
McMinnville, Oregon, United States
1974 Ford Econoline E-100 in original, unrestored condition. Factory 302 V8, Automatic Trans, factory Power Steering, factory A/C. This E100 is in running and driving condition but it has spent more time sitting than driving since the 1990s. Odometer reads 27000. I believe that 127000 is correct but I have no written proof supporting that. The engine starts up easy and runs well although the alternator light flickers when idling. The power steering system works but does leaks a small puddle after its parked. It may be leaking while driving as well. The leak appears to be from one of the power steering hoses but the leak could be coming from elsewhere. The factory a/c system is complete up to the discharge vent on the bulkhead behind the driver seat and seems to just barely blow cold. The non-power brakes work well and the drums have very little miles on them. The previous owner stated the transmission and brakes were rebuilt less than 500 miles ago but I have no written proof of that. The trans case looks clean as if it were rebuilt recently and it does shifts well. It has a very nicely made dual exhaust system that sounds good. Tires hold air and have tread but are older and should be replaced before regular use. All instruments work except for the gas gauge which was working when I bought it. Most of the lights, heater, wipers all work. Ignition and all exterior locks work with the same key. The windshield has a significant crack in it and will need to be replaced. This van will need a thorough examination of all systems before it should be used as everyday driver. That being said I recommend that the van should be trailered or shipped. The body is fairly straight for a 40 year old van but it does have minor dents, scratches and some very light surface rust. Paint is older but not original. It has some body damage around the right rear tail light area. This van was converted into a camper in 1970s by the original owner. For sanitary reasons I have removed all of the old paneling, carpet and insulation and high pressure washed the interior. Due to being a camper it does have many small holes on the inside framing of the van from screws used to attach the paneling and some light adhesive residue from the insulation material behind the paneling. It also had a vent in the roof at one point which has been removed. A patch was made using the roof of another van and it was welded in place. It could use more finish grinding on the welded bead to be flush and some professional hammer and dolly work to be perfect but since it is not visible from the ground it has not been done. It was painted with a closely matching color on the outside and black body sealer inside. Despite the description above this van would make an excellent candidate for a full or partial restoration. It is uncommon to find one these 2nd generation panel vans in a condition that is similar to how they came from the factory i.e. not cut up, customized or driven into the ground. It has a very desirable option package not normally found in an E100s that makes driving it more hospitable. I bought this van to restore at a later time but I have come across another project I am more interested in so I am selling a few of my vehicles. This van is being sold as is, where is with no warranty written, expressed or implied. It is the buyers responsibility to perform all due diligence before bidding. It has a clear Oregon title in my name. I will not accept Paypal for payment. I will accept cash in hand at pickup or a cashiers check from a certified bank mailed in advance to allow time for funds to clear. Funds must clear before the van leaves my possession. I will willing to hold the van for up to a month after the auction has closed if that will help you. Once again, NO PAYPAL! The van is also for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at anytime. Please contact me via ebay if you have any questions or would pictures of something specific. |

United States drivers buying fewer Mexican-made cars
Tue, May 10 2016Crossovers and pickup trucks are not only growing in market share, they're also more profitable than cars. A crossover on the same platform as a sedan retails for thousands more, despite similar components. It's one of the reasons we've seen automakers rapidly shifting production of their sedans and hatchbacks to Mexico, where cheap labor preserves the thin profit margins on these inexpensive vehicles. But as the market continues to shift in the United States, Mexico is getting burned by its lack of product diversity. The country's auto exports, which are heavy on cars, suffered a 16-percent drop last month, Automotive News reports. In total, year-over-year exports fell from 233,515 to 197,020 last month, while year-to-date exports are down by 7.4 percent, from 922,029 to 854,118. The number one culprit? America – which usually accounts for 75 percent of Mexico's exports – and its appetite for crossovers and pickup trucks bolstered by cheap gas prices. While Mexico does build some light truck models – AN specifically calls out the Ram 2500, Honda HR-V, GMC Sierra, and Toyota Tacoma as export leaders – the vast majority of vehicles rolling out of its factories are sedans and hatchbacks. In fact, the three biggest drops in Mexican exports came from companies whose south of the border factories only build cars – Ford (Fusion/Lincoln MKZ and Fiesta), Mazda (Mazda3), and Volkswagen (Golf and Jetta). Mexican Automotive Industry Association President Eduardo Solis told AN the export shortfall will likely be sorted out sooner rather than later, thanks to a pair of new factories – a Kia car factory and an Audi SUV plant – that are coming online by year's end. The two facilities will add around 100,000 vehicles to the country's export totals, which Solis said should leave the industry on the verge of breaking another export record in 2016. But how sustainable will these record-breaking years be? Slapping an "Hecho en Mexico" sticker on a new German SUV won't be enough to change the fact that Mexico's product mix is tilted too heavily towards body styles that are not growing in volume. Mexico's record-breaking export years probably aren't at an end, but we'd argue they're certainly under threat. Watch Piquet and Mansell bend some sheetmetal in Ford Fusion GP
Tue, 12 Feb 2013As we told you about before, there were four episodes planned for the Ford Fusion GP campaign in Brazil, and the whole series has now run its course. The Ford ads pit Brazilian Formula One driver Nelson Piquet against English F1 pilot Nigel Mansell driving the new Fusion, the two coming together again after their partnership at the Williams F1 team ended in a miserable state more than 20 years ago.
They're lined up for you below, in reverse chronological order. You should watch number three first, though, as it adds a bit more spice to the NASCAR action in the fourth.
Europe's most-wanted classic car is... the Ford Mustang?
Sat, 28 Sep 2013Over the span of its 49 years and five generations, the Ford Mustang has held a special place in the hearts of automotive enthusiasts in the US, but, as it turns out, this car is also very popular amongst European car lovers. Earlier this summer, AutoScout24 - a new and used car shopping site in Europe - polled around 75,000 European "car lovers" (not sure how they vetted the respondents) to see which cars were the most popular, and the Mustang came out on top over iconic European classics like the BMW M1 and Volkswagen Beetle.
In the whole of Europe, 37 percent of those polled dream of owning a Mustang, but that number jumps in individual countries like Austria (42 percent) and Spain (41 percent). Rounding out the top five popular classics in Europe are the Mini and Citroën 2CV. Find out which cars made up the rest of the top 10 in the press release posted below.
