Not Your Grandma's 2002 Crown Victoria! on 2040-cars
Duluth, Minnesota, United States
This is not your grandma's Crown Victoria because it was MY Grandma's Crown Victoria! It started it's life in Tomball, TX just north of Houston and only drove 15,000 miles in it's first 10 years. When Grandma passed away, it was left to me and I immediately got new tires, battery, fuel filter, belt, and hoses installed. Car now has 34,400 miles on the odometer (it does get driven occasionally, so mileage will increase slightly) and is in perfect shape. Fuel pump and filter replaced in Feb 2014 due to it sitting so much early in it's life, head unit replaced with a Pioneer Bluetooth unit along with Kenwood 3 way speakers in stock locations.
Interior is excellent, no cracks or rips in seats, power seats work, lumbar works, AC works, heat is great (new thermostat summer 2013), and regular oil changes with Mobil 1 synthetic and Motorcraft 820S Filter. Tires have at least 80% wear left, as do the snow tires which are included in sale. I have only put 19,000 miles on the car over the past 3 years, which is approximately 6000 miles a year. It gets used very rarely in the snow, and is washed weekly in the winter to prevent rust. The snow tires are excellent, and the car has never been stuck in the snow, even after the insane winter we had this past year. I would use it instead of my work van due to it's much better traction in the snow. This car is reliable, easy to drive, and would make an excellent car for a new driver or someone who likes a great, comfortable car for the highway. Gets good highway mileage on regular gas (approx 26mpg) and easily seats 6. |

Ford using robot drivers to test durability [w/video]
Sun, 16 Jun 2013In testing the durability of its upcoming fullsize Transit vans, Ford has begun using autonomous robotic technology to pilot vehicles through the punishing courses of its Michigan Proving Grounds test facility. The autonomous tech allows Ford to run more durability tests in a single day than it could with human drivers, as well as create even more challenging tests that wouldn't be safe to run with a human behind the wheel.
The technology being used was developed by Utah-based Autonomous Solutions, and isn't quite like the totally autonomous vehicles being developed by companies like Google and Audi for use out in the real world. Rather, Ford's autonomous test vehicles follow a pre-programmed course and their position is tracked via GPS and cameras that are being monitored from a central control room. Though the route is predetermined, the robotic control module operates the steering, acceleration and braking to keep the vehicle on course as it drives over broken concrete, cobblestones, metal grates, rough gravel, mud pits and oversize speed bumps.
Scroll down to watch the robotic drivers in action, though be warned that you're headed for disappointment if you expect to see a Centurion behind the wheel (nerd alert!). The setup looks more like a Mythbusters experiment than a scene from Battlestar Galactica.
Ford owns Automotive Loyalty Awards, Audi and Subaru are king of conquests
Thu, 23 Jan 2014Customers are a commodity in the automotive industry, and like any other commodity, automakers trade them back and forth. Only nobody wants to give up their customers - just to keep the ones they have and try to attract others.
That's what the Polk Automotive Loyalty Awards are all about. Every year the industry research body names the automakers, brands and models that manage to keep their customers coming back for more - and attract buyers to switch from other makes. Ford usually does pretty well, but this year it rose above even its own track record.
Not only did Dearborn win the Overall Loyalty to Manufacturer award, but also the Overall Loyalty to Make. Ford also took the African American category, and the F-150 was named the top full-size half-ton pickup in customer loyalty. Ford COO Mark Fields (pictured above) accepted the awards and gave the keynote address at the awards ceremony.
Truckmakers squabbling over who can sell Jimmy Fallon a pickup
Sat, 08 Mar 2014Snagging a celebrity endorsement is a big deal for automakers, as evidenced by the recent efforts of the Detroit Three to try and woo The Tonight Show's newest host, Jimmy Fallon, into one of their trucks.
After announcing during Wednesday night's show that he was in the market for a pickup truck, Fallon set off a firestorm of efforts on Twitter, with both Ford and Chevrolet petitioning the funnyman to test out a truck. According to Ad Age, Ford recommended the King Ranch edition of its next-generation F-150 while the show was still airing. Chevy, meanwhile, waited until the next morning to pitch a Silverado to Fallon.
The winner of this social media feeding frenzy, though, was Ram. Promoting a variation of its "Guts, Glory, Ram" tagline, the Auburn Hills-based manufacturer created the hashtag #GUTSGLORYFallon. It even went so far as to park a Ram 1500 outside 30 Rockefeller Center in New York, where The Tonight Show is filmed. On the back of the Ram sat a sign, reading "Big enough, Jimmy? Test it out," referencing a joke from the Wednesday show.
