This Crown Vic came from the factory equipped with the Handling and Performance Package and bucket seats with the center console shifter (a rare option).  It was then delivered directly to Kenny Brown's shop on Gasoline Alley in Indianapolis.  The car went through a complete conversion, starting with rails welded to the frame to improve stiffness and responsiveness.   They installed Bilstein shocks, and lowered the stance of the car. Next came higher volume injectors and a fuel pump booster.  The centerpiece of the engine upgrade is the positive displacement Eaton supercharger with an air to water intercooler.  The transmission was re-programmed for firmer shifting points.  The true dual exhaust has two high flow performance mufflers.  Finally, the 225 60R16 tires were swapped out for aggressive 255 50ZR16 (recently installed BF Goodrich G Force Sport Comp 2).  This car is designed to be a "sleeper".  Thus the factory wheels and exhaust tips were retained.  Only the wide tires and the subtle KB Panther decals on the sides and rear of the car hint at what lies underneath the skin.

The "official" look of the car will cause the left lane of any freeway to quickly open up for you.  With the supercharged V8, you have the ability to pass quickly and efficiently.  But the car is at its best on twisty country roads, where the suspension and power upgrades are perfectly matched

The original dyno results indicated 325 gross horsepower and 277 at the rear wheels.  Torque numbers were 335 and 297, respectively.  Motor Trend magazine (11/01 issue) clocked a similar car at 5.5 secs 0-60 and just under 14 secs for the 1/4 mile.  The engine was re-tuned to a slightly higher power level in 2006.

It is fully loaded with factory options, including auto climate control, remote keyless entry, 6 way power driver and passenger seat, 6 CD changer, power adjustable pedal and premium stereo.

This car has been carefully maintained by the original owner for 13 years.  Although this car has lived its entire life in Maine; it has never been driven in snow, or even within several days of a snow storm. It has never been in a accident.  There was a scratch on the front bumper that was repaired, and there is a minor scratch on the same bumper from getting too close to a parking garage cable.

Takata air bag recall list

Tue, Dec 9 2014

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration confirmed yesterday that 33.8 million vehicles with Takata airbags are going to be recalled. It's the largest recall in automotive history. The already record-breaking rate of automotive recalls this year shows no signs of slowing down, especially since millions of cars with defective airbags made by global supplier Takata are under ongoing scrutiny. The federal government is warning owners that inflator mechanisms in the air bags can rupture, causing metal fragments to fly out when the bags are deployed. The faulty air bags have already been blamed for multiple deaths. How do you know if your vehicle is safe? The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration released an updated list of vehicles under recall. Sometimes however, the government's website will crash and the list may not be complete. Check your VIN at the NHTSA website to make sure. The list of cars affected by the recall has not been released, but seem to span multiple models over the years for many of the automakers.

Saleen SA-30 Mustang, Camaro and Challenger help celebrate the big 3-0

Fri, 22 Nov 2013

After 30 years of tuning performance cars and building racecars, Saleen is celebrating its racing heritage with a limited-production car line called SA-30. Based on the Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger, Saleen will only build 10 of each SA-30 model at a base price of $95,000.
For that money, buyers will get upgraded suspension, brakes and engines, and while the power figures have not been released for the SA-30 620 Camaro and SA-30570 Challenger models, the SA-30 302 Mustang will be the top performer with 625 horsepower. Each car will be painted up in a custom pearl white hue with black and yellow accents, and get white wheels shrouding yellow powder-coated brake calipers. Inside, the SA-30 offerings will all get a proper Saleen interior with black leather and white Alcantara on the seats, along with the expected smattering of SA-30 badges.
On all three SA-30 models, customers will have various options available to further customize their cars, including a rear-seat delete option that transforms each car's cabin into a race-inspired interior with a chassis-strengthening rear cross brace. Perhaps the coolest feature of all, though, is the Saleen Frost-Touch Glass that is an option on the SA-30 302 Mustang. Similar to the Mercedes Sky Control roof first introduced on the Mercedes SLK, the Saleen Frost-Touch Glass allows the Mustang's optional glass roof and rear window to be switched from transparent to opaque at the push of a button.

Ken Block proves the new Ford Focus RS can handle that Gymkhana thing

Wed, Feb 4 2015

Oh Ford, you've already done a lot for us today, introducing the bound-for-America Focus RS and all. But then you go ahead and add onto this day of good news by handing a prototype of the new all-wheel-drive rocket to drift maestro Ken Block and capture it all on video. Block does his usual, slipping and sliding and drifting the over-315-horsepower hot hatchback through Ford's Cologne, Germany factory, before making a final and surprising appearance at the unveiling of the new RS to European media. It's all as entertaining as it sounds, and gives us plenty of chances to hear the 2.3-liter EcoBoost at full bellow. Related Video:
