This car was retired from the Missouri State Patrol in 2007

On Jun-12-13 at 13:06:03 PDT, seller added the following information:

This car was retired in late 2007 from being a Missouri State Patrol Car, this is a detective car so never had barrier in back seat.  Power windows, locks, seat, mirrors all in good working order.  Car was fitted with CUMMINS 4 BT engine 4 years ago by a close friend of mine who is a excellent fabricator.  Motor mounts were made, oil pan was modified slightly and a new dodge diesel automatic was installed at the time of the conversion.  Since the conversion there has been 45,000 trouble free miles put on the car.  Rear end is 2.73 gears without a limited slip as someone had removed previously.  Gears were installed shortly after conversion to achieve better mileage.  Speedometer does work and is accurate.  Air Conditioning works great and was a new compressor from a Dodge pickup when conversion was done.  Battery is new, serpentine belt is new, alternator was recently replaced with new 150 amp unit from a medium duty truck.  Tires are 16 inch and are about 50%, brakes are about 60%.

Surface rust is showing on front driver fender above tire and rear quarter panels where 911 stickers were removed and took paint with them.  No rust through and bottom of car is clean.  The car is driven everyday by me or my wife and cruise and ABS are functional, no check engine lights are on.  Injectors were replaced when conversion took place and were built by Redoak Diesel in Iowa.  Was told they are equivalent to 5-14's in 5.9 application.  Runs great makes 35 lbs of boost currently with pump turned down from total output.  No intercooler is in place currently, one may be included if price is right.  Electric fan from original drivetrain is still inplace.

The only negatives to this car are the surface rust and there is a slight whine in rearend on deceleration occasionally that has been there since 2.73's were installed so going on 50,000 miles.  Had intended on changing to 3.08's with limited slip if kept any longer so never reshimmed rear.  Usually it makes no noise.

Lincoln Continental production likely to shift to Flat Rock

Fri, Jun 12 2015

Lincoln production may be returning to Michigan, according to a new report from Automotive News. While the brand's current big sedan, the MKS, is built alongside the Ford Taurus, Ford Explorer, and their Police Interceptor counterparts at the Blue Oval's Chicago, IL factory, the production version of the Continental won't be screwed together in the Windy City. According to AN, "industry sources" claim the Continental will join the Ford Mustang and Ford Fusion – on which the big Lincoln is loosely based – at the company's Flat Rock, MI factory. The move isn't just based on convenience, though. Ford is selling a lot of Explorers, and shifting Lincoln production away from Chicago Assembly frees up production capacity for the popular SUV. "Chicago Assembly Plant is vital to our global manufacturing footprint and will continue to manufacture the Ford Taurus, Ford Explorer and Police Interceptor vehicles even after we phase out production of the MKS in 2016," Ford told Automotive News. "We will continue to match production to demand." Looking at the numbers further backs up the argument against Lincoln production in Chicago. Last year alone, Ford built nearly 285,000 Explorers and over 73,000 Taurus sedans, compared to just 8,300 Lincolns. Finally, as AN tells it, Ford is almost telegraphing the Continental's arrival in Flat Rock. The facility has a four-week shut down scheduled from June 15 through July 13, which is twice as long as the typical summer vacation, while there's another two weeks off slated for September. Detroit Three autoworkers could get huge bonuses

Mon, 06 Jan 2014

For a long time, being a line worker for one of the Detroit Three has meant living with an uncertain future. With the health of American automakers on the rise, though, things are also starting to look up for the men and women building the cars. The latest sign that things aren't bad? Big profit-sharing checks.
According to The Detroit News, Ford, General Motors and Chrysler could end up paying over $800 million to 130,000 workers as part of a profit-sharing plan. According to The News, the economic impact of these profits in Michigan alone could exceed $400 million, besting the NFL's Super Bowl, MLB's All-Star Game and the NHL's Winter Classic for their economic impact.
This is the third straight year the Detroit Three have issued profit-sharing checks to UAW employees, and for many workers, the checks are as close as they'll get to a raise, due to the most recent contract between the union and the manufacturers. On average, employees at GM and Ford receive $1 for every $1 million in North American (not just the US) pre-tax profits. Chrysler, meanwhile, gets a similar deal, although the Auburn Hills-based company calculates profit sharing using 85 percent of the brand's global profits.

Ford cleans up painting process with cameras

Thu, 22 Aug 2013

Knowing how the bacon gets made rarely entices us and, in the same vein, the same usually goes for knowing about how new cars get painted. But in both instances, however, quality - or a lack thereof - is instantly obvious. In terms of the latter, Ford is showing off its new paint quality process with 3D Dirt Detection Technology to find imperfections in vehicle paint more easily and more quickly.
This process - being performed on the F-150 SVT Raptor above - uses 16 computer-controlled cameras to create a three-dimensional model (inset) of the vehicle to detect flaws in the paint including dirt particles, which can then be buffed out manually. Ford says this new technology cuts down on time spent looking for paint flaws and gives workers more time to correct those that are discovered.
Currently, Ford only uses its 3D Dirt Detection Technology system at three factories (the Dearborn, MI facility, along with those in Louisville, Kentucky and Valencia, Spain), but it will soon spread to five more plants in North America. Ford has released a video and press release for this innovative and unexpectedly interesting process, both of which are posted below.
