This late model Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor is a 2009 with 49,943 miles on its certified odometer/speedometer. We obtained this unit from a sheriff's department in Virginia who purchased the car new. We have used the vehicle for demonstration purposes of lighting systems, and we will leave the equipment that is contained in this unit in the vehicle, however it will come unhooked to comply with policies. The
interior of the car is in excellent condition in both the rear and the
front seat areas, the rubber floor looks new. The seats are in great
shape and look new in the rear and have no rips in the front which is
normal after the car has been in service for a period of time. This car
has power adjustable pedals. The overhead report light
works, all of the power windows and door locks work and air conditioning is ice cold. The
exterior of the car is in very good condition, the drivers side exterior spot light works as well. This car
runs and drives 100%, the engine is smooth under acceleration and the
transmission shifts perfectly. The car has Good Year Eagles all the way around. This is a great opportunity to get a late
model Crown Victoria Police Interceptor with very low miles.
These cars are getting harder to find and late model versions with good
miles are even more so as many departments are hanging on to them since
Ford stopped making them in 2011. This is a true police interceptor
that could go back in service tomorrow. The vehicle was damaged by the sheriff's department, where a tree fell on the roof and was this way when we bought it in 2010. We replaced the glass in the vehicle, along with body work to the roof. The entire vehicle was repainted at that time and has remained beautiful ever since. For this reason, the vehicle cannot be brought to the State of Virginia. The equipment coming with the car includes front and rear winshield LED's (orange and white), an external speaker, and handheld control paddle mounted to the dash. Edmunds ranks the best used cars for 2013
Sun, 15 Sep 2013When people ask us what car we would recommend for them, it's usually not easy to answer. To make a useful recommendation we must consider which of the numerous vehicle segments fits their needs best, and then choose one of the many vehicles offered in each segment. For some people, new cars don't meet their expectations of value, because they lose so much of it the moment they are purchased and driven off the dealer lot. For them, there's always the used-car market, where great deals can be found, but cars' histories of reliability and maintenance records - and perhaps that Certified Pre-Owned warranty - become ever-important factors playing into purchase choice.
To help out, Edmunds has done us the favor of assembling a list of the best used vehicles money can buy, covering model years 2006-2011, according to what it considers the most important criteria when shopping for used autos: reliability, safety, value and availability. That means unreliable, unsafe, super-expensive or limited-edition models don't appear on the list, but instead cars from each segment that are more likely to satisfy the general population.
There are some real goodies on the list, including but not limited to vehicles such as the capable Honda Fit, the cultish Honda Accord coupe (which can be had with a 240-horsepower V6 and a six-speed manual transmission some years), and the powerful Chevrolet Corvette. While Edmunds' choice of the Volvo C70 for best used convertible baffled us at first (not that it's a bad car), it redeemed itself by stating that the Mazda MX-5 still is an unofficial top choice if you don't require more than two seats.
Ford gives police chiefs tech to surveil officers in their own cars
Tue, 28 Oct 2014Police officers certainly have a difficult job in keeping the streets safe, but as public employees in positions of authority, there is still a very real need for oversight. To that end, Ford is partnering with a tech company to offer a new system called Ford Telematics for Law Enforcement on its line of Police Interceptor patrol vehicles that could make cops safer, while giving cities a better idea of what its officers are doing.
The system streams live data about cruisers back to the home base to people like the police chief or shift supervisor. That info includes expected things like speed, location and cornering acceleration, but it gets incredibly granular as well, with records of things like if emergency lights are on, or even if an officer is wearing a seatbelt.
Ford Telematics for Law Enforcement "ought to protect officers as much as it protects the public," said Ford spokesperson Chris Terry to Autoblog. Constantly monitoring patrol cars offers cities a lot of advantages, too. First, it reduces potential liability because a department can prove where each vehicle is at all times. Also, officers know they are being watched and may potentially drive more safely.
Ken Block is at it again in Gymkhana 6
Mon, 11 Nov 2013If there's one thing we'll say about Ken Block and his latest installment in the Gymkhana family, it's that it's far more structured than previous videos, but that doesn't mean it skimps on the entertainment. Block is on a purpose-built course which was touted as "The... Ultimate... Gymkhana... Grid... Course" in last week's preview. Unlike Gymkhana 5, which took placed on closed streets in San Francisco, this course seems much more compact.
Block has an entire array of challenges to tackle in his 650-horsepower Ford Fiesta ST, and none of them look particularly easy. In fact, we'd argue that Gymkhana 6's grid course requires much more precise driving that previous titles. There are Segways, Lamborghinis and massive pieces of construction equipment that all must be dealt with.
We've got the entire 6:28 of Gymkhana madness for you down below. Scroll down for the video and then hit Comments and let us know how this installment compares to previous Block works.
