2009 Black Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor Sedan 4-door 4.6l on 2040-cars
La Grange, Illinois, United States
The La Grange, Illinois (Cook County) Police Department is offering the following vehicle for sale/auction:
2009 Black Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor Sedan 4-Door 4.6L This vehicle is surplus property of the Village of La Grange and MUST be sold according to Illinois law: It MUST be sold in an auction-style format such as eBay. There is no Buy-It-Now option. We will NOT accept any trades for this vehicle. The vehicle is being sold AS IS and with NO existing warranty, neither express nor implied. All sales are FINAL and NO returns will be accepted. The vehicle will be sold to the highest bidder after the starting price has been satisfied. There is NO reserve on this vehicle.
The vehicle has a mileage of 111,334 miles. The vehicle has no notable body damage or rust, just normal wear-n-tear and minor scratches. The vehicle has working turn signals, hazards, internal dome light, power door locks, power windows, power mirrors, power pedal adjustment, power trunk release, power driver's seat and lumbar. The horn works, the A/C, heat, and fan blower all work. The rear defrost and wipers work. The vehicle is equipped with cruise controls on the steering wheel (unknown if working-we did not use them). The vehicle is equipped with a working spotlight on the driver's side. The vehicle's tires appear to be in decent shape. The back seat of the vehicle is new (never used). Notable damage/scratches/dents/imperfections/things that don't work or things that need to be replaced/repaired: This vehicle was used as part of a fleet of police vehicles. We had the police decals removed, however, the vehicle will need to be "buffed" where the decals used to be (see photos). There were three small holes cut into the outside roof of the vehicle for police equipment. Two of the holes have been "capped," however, the third hole will need a cap. There is a small hole cut into the roof (inside headliner) that was also used for police equipment (see photos). The vehicle will need a new battery; it needs to be jumped to start. When the vehicle was used as a police vehicle, a cutoff switch was installed that allowed the vehicle to remain on with the keys out of the ignition. The switch was taken out, however, the wiring is still in back of the dash. The headlights do not go on as well as the AM/FM stereo. It is unknown if it is just a fuse or if it has something to do with the cutoff switch. Lastly, and most importantly, the vehicle was driven until late 2013, when we received a diagnosis that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle runs and moves, however, it will need a new engine! The winning bidder should have the vehicle towed from our lot. Over the years, the following damage/major repairs have been made to this vehicle (maintenance record): 1. 01/16/10 vehicle involved in passenger side (front door/front tire) crash. Damage repaired to the amount of $2,190.70. 2. 01/24/11 transmission cooler and condenser assembly replaced. 3. 06/03/11 replacement of fuel sender and front/rear brakes. 4. 07/26/11 replacement of blower resister/switch/wires and recharge A/C. 5. 09/21/11 replacement of heat motor assembly 6. 01/02/12 replacement of passenger-side airbag switch and repaired rear defroster. 7. 05/26/12 replaced heat and A/C blower motor and cooling fan assembly. 8. 06/14/12 rebuilt transmission assembly. 9. 06/28/12 replaced alternator. 10. 09/30/12 replaced 4 tires, A/C service, alignment. 11. 10/11/12 replaced sway bar links, transmission service/flush, rear brakes, replaced rack and pinion. 12. 10/24/12 replaced air bag sensor, replaced drive belt and spark plugs. 13. 11/20/12 re-built driver's seat cushion. 14. 08/12/13 A/C service, replaced rack and pinion, alignment, two new tires. 15. MotorWeek finds nice things to say about the 1993 Ford Probe
Tue, Mar 8 2016This latest in MotorWeek's series of Retro Reviews continues its recent trend of remembering the massive glut of sports coupes that hit the market in the '90s. While vehicles like the Mitsubishi 3000GT, Mazda RX-7, and Ford Mustang all enjoy solid reputations down to this day, the 1993 Ford Probe, well... doesn't. As you'll soon see, though, the show's opinion suggests the coupe's second generation isn't really all that bad. Turns out they just weren't particularly sporty. Ford and Mazda developed the Probe together, and the Japanese company supplied both the base 115-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder and the 164-hp 2.5-liter V6 in the GT trim. The original's pseudo-angular look gave way to a much smoother shape for the second generation. Of course, pop-up headlights remained, which were a design hallmark for many of this era's sports coupes. After driving it, MotorWeek proclaims the Probe is "a winner" and considers the handling a "delight." That's not a big surprise, considering that in those days, a car had to be really bad not to get a decent review from Television's Original Automotive Magazine. However, the show hints at some of the reasons the coupe isn't so well remembered today. Even the GT reportedly suffers from soft springs and lots of understeer, which sounds like exactly the opposite anyone hoping to drive the coupe enthusiastically would want. To sum it all up, we're sure you're just as happy as we are that Ford went back on its initial plan to shelve the Mustang in favor of the front-drive Probe. Related Video:
Chrysler called out over lackluster Ram Runner by racer who helped develop it
Fri, 11 Apr 2014Fans of off-roading and desert blasting might recall that Chrysler offers an aftermarket conversion that can turn a Ram 1500 into a road-legal desert racer, called the Ram Runner. The kit, sold through Mopar, includes some significant suspension upgrades, body tweaks and a brawnier cat-back exhaust for the truck's 5.7-liter V8.
Considering all of this, comparisons with the almighty Ford F-150 SVT Raptor are common. Among the off-road community, that makes these two a sort of Chevrolet Camaro and Ford Mustang for people that prefer driving on dirt. In the Race-Dezert forum, the discussion as to which truck was better was proceeding as normal - Ram fans said their piece and Ford fans said theirs. Then, a man named Kent Kroeker offered up his two cents.
See, Kroeker is a Baja racer, and the man that helped develop the Ram Runner. Despite his association with the truck, though, he had some less than kind words for Chrysler and the Ram Runner.
