2008 Ford Crown Victoria P71 Police Interceptor (CVPI). One owner, clear title, extensive maintenance records, with only 92,888 miles. Includes heavy duty flooring, severe-duty shock absobers, higher-rate coil springs, and rear anti-roll stabilizer bars, heavier suspension, and it is outfitted with all silicone hoses and premium aircraft clamps. These vehicles generally run hundreds of thousands of miles as taxicabs and law enforcement vehicles, and are not sold by Ford to the general public. Includes manual and comprehensive parts and labor service journal detailing parts and labor on 114 pages of work orders totalling $56,645 spent on fleet maintenance over the life of this vehicle so far. Additionally, the hood, roof, and trunk were repainted and the instrument cluster was replaced at Ford's expense in 2011.
The CVPI rear-wheel drive, V8 power, and reinforced frame, body mounts, and body-on-frame construction are useful for law enforcement and taxi use because repairs are easier and less expensive after collisions, the design facilitates aggressive, safer PIT maneuvers and high-speed chase techniques, and the rims, chassis, and suspension are designed to withstand curb impacts of up to 40 mph. CVPIs are in demand by taxi companies because they want a safe car with a heavy-duty rear bench to comfortably seat three adults.
CVPI enthusiasts appreciate the heavy duty transmission, 187 kW (254 PS; 251 hp) 4.6L V8 engine with 9.6:1 compression (higher than stock), 3.27:1 rear axle, high rpm / high load external oil-to-engine oil cooler designed for higher-load, faster driving for extended periods, T-409 stainless steel dual exhaust without resonators, high rate coil springs, a more powerful 78 A h battery, and a larger 200 A alternator. The cluster sports a 140 mph analog speedometer, digital odometer with hour and trip meters, and compatability with other civilian features.
This unit is NOT equipped with Kevlar-lined front doors, so these are not recommended as protective barriers during gunfights. However, the rear doors open normally from the inside, so suspects or your children may be able to escape the back seating area, as in a typical automobile.. Gunplay, citizen arrests, kidnapping, etc. are not advised. Flex-fuel cars like the P71 support American farmers here in the midwest where we grow crops used to produce E-85 and biofuels. Around here, E-85 costs about 80-85 cents per gallon less than regular unleaded. I usually also add a few ounces of generic fuel injector cleaner per tankful to increase mpg and boost performance. Please be advised that the only infallible way to identify a CVPI P71 is to note the inclusion of the code "P71" in the VIN,. When you find one, it's all about functionality, reliability, and industrial strength power. It just works, and it's cheaper and easier to fix than anything else if it stops working. It's a basic, heavy-duty drivetrain, high-performance braking, tight, durable suspension, includes a rugged, kid-proof interior, and is well-documented, in case you want to Google something to fix it yourself. Please feel free to email or call me at 217/390-8500 with any questions or concerns. Test drives and inspections are welcome and encouraged. On Oct-10-13 at 19:57:56 PDT, seller added the following information: There appears to be an error in the AutoCheck report, which reflects an accident reported in Irving, Texas, although I have confirmed that the car has never been driven to Texas or involved in an accident there. Will attempt to contact the reporting authorities to correct this mistake. |

Consumer Reports: Ford Fusion fun but flawed; Mitsubishi i-MiEV slow, chintzy [w/videos]
Wed, 23 Jan 2013Waiting for a Ford compliment from Consumer Reports these days is like waiting for a low-cost new product from Apple. So we weren't really expecting a glowing review of the 2013 Ford Fusion when CR got its hands on the car. The institute's crew bought three different versions of the Fusion (Hybrid, 1.6-liter EcoBoost and a Titanium with the 2.0-liter EcoBoost) to put through its barrage of tests, and while we aren't too surprised by some of the findings, they're still interesting nonetheless.
CR praises the Fusion for its "eye-catching" design and says that the sportier Titanium trim level is the best-handling midsize sedan they've ever tested, but that's about where the good news ends for Ford. The Fusion Hybrid also posted the best-ever fuel economy CR has recorded in a midsize sedan, but the only problem is that their number was 39 miles per gallon combined - far less than Ford's 47 mpg rating for city, highway and combined. As expected, CR also dinged the Fusion for its MyFord Touch, but some of the other gripes about the car include a cramped cabin and poor fit and finish.
Other Ford products tested this time around include the Focus Electric and C-Max Hybrid. Like the Fusion, CR's observed fuel economy of 37 mpg for the C-Max fell well short of Ford's advertised 47-mpg rating, and both cars were criticized for the use of MyFord Touch. CR notes that the Focus Electric's interior is also cramped, with the battery pack taking up a lot of cargo space.
FL man fatally shot after urging driver not to do donuts in a Mustang
Tue, 18 Nov 2014Bradley Holt (pictured), the older half-brother of University of South Florida freshman quarterback Quinton Flowers, was killed in a random act of violence last week.
The 24-year-old Holt was throwing a football around with local kids in Allapattah, a neighborhood in Miami, when a yellow Mustang showed up and started doing donuts in the street. Holt, worried about kids playing in front his apartment complex, walked over to the driver and asked him why he was "driving so crazy with so many kids out here?"
The driver left. Holt's sister said the driver came back "about 15 to 20 minutes later" and fired two shots at Holt. One of them hit Holt in the back of the head, killing him.
The 11 most expensive American cars ever
Tue, 12 Aug 2014Here's a Pro Tip for all you would-be classic car investors out there: buy Ferraris. With the Pebble Beach festivities kicking off this week, including any number high end car auctions, we thought it would be entertaining to compile a list of some to the most expensive cars ever sold with the bang of a gavel. Trouble is, once you get past the splendor of everyone's favorite Italian sports car maker, that list is pretty boring.
Ferrari dominates the all-time auction sales list; seven of the top ten most expensive cars sold wear the Cavallino Rampante badge, as well as more than half of the top fifty. Sure, a nearly $30-million Mercedes-Benz W196 racecar might be the new top dog as of last year, but it's even possible that Ferrari could take that title back in Monterey this weekend. Long story short: we think a list of the most expensive American cars ever sold at auction is a lot more entertaining to read. Hell, our list has a friggin' Batmobile on it, how can it go wrong?
Follow on below for the top ten cars that are red, white, blue and a whole lot of green.
