2007 Ford Crown Victoria (P71) Police Interceptor YOU WON'T FIND A BETTER DEAL FOLKS, PERFECT FOR PRIVATE USE OR WORK!!! 2007 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor, 103K original miles - with 1582 idle hours, drives great, everything works in the car and is missing nothing, California car, no rust, from the City of Ventura, CA. The car is original black looks good and shiny and yes it does have scratches from being in service, the only rough spot would be the roof because it's starting to get dull (please see picture). (2) antenna holes on the trunk lid and (1) on the roof, no holes anywhere on the dashboard/trim. The car still looks good and very reliable/safe. (2) new working spotlights, blue silicone radiator heather hoses (fail safe), clear head lights, vinyl floors (small cut out between seats where the center console used to be), a very nice, strong, tight and quiet ride, Cold A/C, heather works, defroster works fine, AM/FM stereo + CD, working cruise control, all seat belts and buckles in place, all (4) windows and doors fully operational, tires are great all around (235/55/17 by GOODYEAR RSA), CLEAN TITLE - NO ACCIDENTS, everything works in the car. Mechanically: At 103K, this car needs nothing but fuel to keep it going. Ford ditching Microsoft in favor of BlackBerry QNX for next-gen Sync?
Mon, 24 Feb 2014Ask the average consumer - at least, those who follow the goings-on in the automotive industry - which carmaker they'd most closely associate Microsoft, and the answer you'd most likely get would be Ford. The Blue Oval automaker, after all, was at the forefront of bringing Microsoft technology into cars with its pioneering Sync system, and, though reality didn't turn out as such, Ford's CEO was recently touted as a potential future head of the Redmond-based software giant. But that relationship, according to the latest reports, could be coming to an end.
Alan Mullaly kiboshed the idea of leaving Dearborn for Redmond, but more importantly Ford is tipped to be ditching Microsoft in developing its next-generation Sync system. In its place, Ford is expected to partner with BlackBerry's QNX division.
Now, before you go balking "BlackBerry?! But they're finished!" consider that QNX is (or at least was) an independent entity that Research In Motion (as BlackBerry's Ontario-based parent company was then known) just happened to have bought back in 2010. QNX provides control systems to everything from nuclear power plants and UAVs to automakers like Audi, BMW and Porsche.
Ford recalls 83k Taurus and crossover models for halfshaft issue
Fri, 15 Aug 2014Ford and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have issued a recall for some 83,250 vehicles in the US, for an issue with halfshafts. More specifically a "halfshaft retention circlip" might not have been properly installed on affected vehicles, with the result being halfshafts that may move improperly or disengage completely from the linkshaft while driving. The NHTSA release also notes that the issue may occur "without prior warning" which obviously factors in to the timeliness of getting this checked.
Should the halfshaft disengage, a few troubling things could happen. If it occurs while driving, power from the engine will no longer be transmitted to the wheels. And, if the vehicle is parked without the parking brake applied after disengagement of the circlip, vehicles may roll away even if they're transmissions have been placed in "Park."
Affected vehicles are as follows: Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX crossovers from model years 2012 to 2014; Ford Taurus and Lincoln MKS sedans from model years 2013 to 2014; Ford Flex and Lincoln MKT vehicles from model years 2013 to 2014.
Cosworth double-feature is XCar's a drool-worthy look back
Wed, Jun 11 2014While American fans of Ford performance cars in the '80s and early '90s were loving the 5.0 Mustang, Taurus SHO and, for those who wanted to be a little different, the Merkur XR4Ti, British fans of the Blue Oval were getting their own unique take on speed. The Sierra RS Cosworth (which was similar but not identical to the aforementioned Merkur) and later Escort RS Cosworth were the stuff of dreams with huge wings, hood vents and big power for their time and class. XCar Films aims to find out whether it is little more than nostalgia that makes these classics famous or it really is their legitimate performance. Thanks to its Formula One and racing success, Cosworth was already a well-established performance name in the UK by the time it began selling tuned engines to Ford for the Sierra and Escort. The Sierra RS Cosworth hit the scene in 1986 with a turbocharged, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 204 horsepower and rear-wheel drive. Its huge wing at the back signaled it immediately as something special, and it proved to be a performance powerhouse on and off the track. When it was retired, Ford replaced it with the Escort RS Cosworth that used an upgraded version of the same engine with 217 hp, all-wheel drive and an even bigger rear wing to net yet more racing victories. XCar really gets into the spirit of the time, opening the video with the lo-fi grain of '80s and '90s TV, but to find out whether the Cossies stand up to modern scrutiny, you have to watch the video below.
