I am listing my 1933 Ford Victoria. I built it from the ground up using a kit bought by a friend when he lost interest. He said he ordered it from a place called Badass Street Rods, and it came with a very nice 3 inch chopped fiberglass body, along with an independent Mustang II front end. It has a 9 inch Ford rear with 3:36 gears, chrome coil over shocks all around, 4 link rear suspension, front disc brakes, rack and pinion manual steering, rebuilt TH350 Transmission, rebuilt 355 C.I. Chevy small block, Vortec heads, Edelbrock dual four intake with twin 500 cfm carbs, remote fill master cylinder, aluminum radiator with a pusher electric fan, 1932 Ford headlights with halogen bulbs and hidden turn signals inside, along with ceramic coated headers, extra loud gear drive timing set, and power windows.

The body has new base/clear paint in British Military Green, hand applied orange and tan pinstriping, all new glass, chrome tilt steering column, light up Ford emblem on the dash, with Dolphin gauges. There is a metal inner structure and wood in the body for strength and upholstery. I installed front and rear seats from a Ford Aerostar minivan, and they fit nicely! It has a pro wiring kit installed, but needs some finishing for all of the items to work.

The frame and all suspension parts have been powder coated to match the body, with new tires, and Cragar Street Pro wheels (15x6 and 15x10). All of the "tin" on the engine has been replaced with powder coated aluminum parts. For fun I have also added a pewter donkey hood ornament, and a nickel plated Ford script oil can (mounted in the original bracket to the passenger side cylinder head).

The car runs, drives, and sounds awesome. I have shown it in unfinished form for 2 seasons now, and it wins a lot of trophies! It just needs the wiring kit finished, door panels, headliner, and garnish moldings installed. The power windows have been tested but never wired up, but I will include the new switches, along with a remote electric door popper kit, and repro door handle kit, so the new buyer can install whichever they would like. This car has a clear title, and is titled as a 1933 Ford Victoria.

Jurassic Park made a big impact on these Jeep drivers

Thu, 12 Jun 2014

For a certain cohort of young folks, Jurassic Park is a touchstone film from their childhood. Not only did it play into practically every little boy's love of dinosaurs, the movie included some great action scenes and special effects that still hold up today. In its latest video, The Aficionauto takes a look the Jurassic Park Motor Pool, a California car club with over 40 fans who created replica vehicles from the iconic film.
The club is made up of an interesting cross-section of people. Many of them were Jeep Wrangler fans that already loved off-roading and Jurassic Park, and liked the idea of bringing them together. Like any close-knit club, it ends up being about community and people coming together to share their interests. It's quite a heartwarming video. Also, be sure to stay until the end because The Aficionauto teases a future Jurassic Park-themed vehicle. Scroll down to check out the motor pool.

How Ford's light lab keeps the sun shining on the new Mustang just right [w/video]

Thu, 02 Jan 2014

Anyone who's bought one of those old school metal shift knobs knows they're really cool until they sit in a parking lot in the sun for a few hours. Then they're not cool at all. Likewise, features such as the aluminum dash on the 2015 Ford Mustang can be all kinds of neat right up until the sun hits it just the right way and sends shards of blinding light through the cabin. The Ford Visual Performance and Evaluation Lab is where engineers figure out how to make sure that doesn't happen.
Cars like said Mustang are parked inside the 30-foot reflecting dome under 6,000 watts of lights that can mimic the sun at any time of day and in any weather condition. Engineers can then spend cold, overcast days inside, testing for interior legibility, glare and reflections on every interior and exterior surface as if it were bright and sunny. They can also learn how a car's sheetmetal and colors will look out of doors, all year round.
Ford showed off the lighting lab without the music and interviews three years ago when the Explorer was being prepared. You can watch it at work again in the video below, and read about it in the press release below that.

Ford Explorer is America's new favorite police car

Mon, 24 Mar 2014

There is a new vehicle that you should keep an eye out for when you're going a little too fast down the Interstate. Ford's Explorer-based Police Interceptor Utility was the bestselling new law enforcement model in the country last year, and signs show that won't be changing anytime soon.
Ford sold 14,086 Interceptor Utilities in 2013, up 140% from the year before, and 10,897 Interceptor Sedans, up 31%, according to USA Today. Overall, the brand's police sales were up 48 percent, and they were enough to boost the company's law enforcement vehicle market share by 9 points to nearly 50 percent.
The success comes just a few years after it made the decision to finally retire the long-serving Crown Victoria-based cruiser for two more modern vehicles. "We had to reinvent the category," said Chris Terry of Ford Communications to Autoblog. The automaker had to convince police departments that a unibody chassis without a V8 could perform better than a model that had been a law enforcement staple for years.
