This car is in great shape and runs great as well. It is a SWEET, slightly darker than baby blue 1965 Ford Mustang (base) with lots of original chrome and beautifully redone interior, pony package. There is no rust. The original owner lived in Knoxville, Tennessee and the car was garage kept by him. It has been garage kept by me until September 2013 when we moved and it is now in a carport. I had a completely rebuilt motor installed last year -- A 302 with Elderbrock Intake and 4V carb, headers, dual exhaust. I had the original transmission rebuilt as well in 2013. The only thing you might have to do to this car is fix or replace the radio.
  • POWERTRAIN -- Newly rebuilt 302 engine, differential rebuilt, Elderbrock intake, 4V carb, headers, dual exhaust
  • TRANSMISSION -- Original transmission newly rebuilt
  • WHEELS -- NEW CHROME wheels 14 x 6
  • TIRES -- NEW
  • NEW AIR SHOCKS IN REAR and NEW SHOCKS IN THE FRONT
  • 45,000 original miles when I had the motor changed out -- I have driven the car to a few car shows but haven't put more than a couple hundred miles on it
  • Original wheels/hubs/tires will be included in sale of car
  • Local East TN car - NO RUST
  • INTERIOR -- NICE interior -- new headliner and seats recovered, Pony Package, carpet, trunk liner redone
  • Garage kept
  • Insured as an antique vehicle through Hagerty's for $17,000 (their estimate, not mine)
  • NEW GAS TANK
  • NEW BRAKES
  • Original radio is in the car but is not working
  • No air conditioning in this car
I am selling the car because I need the money for other things. I have retired due to illness, moved to the river, and my priorities have had to change. This was my dream car but it's gotta go.
I will accept cash or cashier's check.  Car must be picked up at a prearranged time within a reasonable amount of time. Please contact us if you want to come see the car at 423-715-4772 or 423-715-4768 - after 8:30 a.m., before 10:30 p.m.  Thank you.

Ford confirms Everest SUV production for China

Sat, 19 Apr 2014

According to Ford, the Chinese SUV segment grew by 49 percent in 2013, and the Blue Oval held a 4.5 percent market share. At the 2014 Beijing Motor Show, Ford is showing the Everest SUV that, while just a concept for now, will go into production in the near future.
The Everest is a big, brawny seven-seat SUV that mixes solid, chiseled styling and contemporary Ford design cues. Up front there is an angular version of the trapezoidal grille and sharp, wraparound headlights. The beltline rises in the rear to make the back appear higher than the front. The rear seems just as chiseled, with the taillights resting in jagged scallops. There is no doubt that this concept means to look rugged, and ready for rough roads - the whole thing looks pretty great.
The truck was penned by Ford's Asia Pacific design and engineering team in Australia, and it was first shown in Sydney last year. Ford's JMC joint venture will build the truck for the Chinese market, and it will be sold at Ford dealers there. The Blue Oval isn't hinting at what powers the production version yet, but it reportedly shares some components with the foreign-market Ranger.

Americans will get a four-cylinder Ford Mustang after all? [w/poll]

Sat, 09 Mar 2013

Ask and you shall receive. Remember that previous report suggesting that the 2015 Ford Mustang getting a four-cylinder EcoBoost engine, and that it would be sold in Europe only and not the United States? Well, according to Road & Track, the rumor is only partially true - The Mustang will get the engine, but it is indeed coming to America.
Additionally, according to RT, the 3.7-liter V6 will continue to serve as the base engine, and since it offers up a stout 305 horsepower in its current form, it's likely that the 2.3-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost will produce a bit more than that. At the top of the range, the Mustang GT will continue to soldier on with a V8 engine, which should continue to send over 400 horsepower to the rear wheels.
Finally, while we agree 100 percent with RT's heartfelt request for a paddle-shift automatic, we certainly expect that the EcoBoost 'Stang will be offered with a manual transmission as standard equipment. This is a Mustang, after all...

Ford, Ram in heavy-duty towing spat

Mon, 28 Jul 2014

Every pickup truck commercial has the brand trying to convince us that its model is the biggest, brawniest vehicle on the block. But Ford and Ram appear ready to really throw down the gauntlet and scrap over the towing figures for their heavy-duty models, and it could potentially end up in court.
The issue revolves around what it means to be best in class. Ford claims that its 2015 F-450 (pictured above) has a max tow rating of 31,200 pounds, compared to 30,000 pounds for the Ram 3500 (right). However, both companies market these heavy haulers as having the top towing in their class. According to Automotive News, Ford is threatening legal action if Ram doesn't back down.
The situation isn't as simple as just comparing the numbers, though. First, the two companies calculate their towing capacities differently. Ram adheres to the SAE J2807 rating, while Ford uses its own internal system. Although, as the company introduces new models, they are certified using the SAE standard. "When an all-new F-Series Super Duty is introduced, it also will use SAE J2807," said Ford to Autoblog in an emailed statement.
