1995 Ford Bronco Xlt Full Size Big Bronco 4x4 5-speed Manual Transmission on 2040-cars
Glenview, Illinois, United States
This is my 1995 Ford Bronco XLT Full Size big Bronco 4x4 5-speed manual transmission...this Bronco is mechanically excellent, sound body with mininal dings and areas of rust...see photos. Black exterior with a gray interior. I purchased this to do a restoration. It was a Colorado truck by way of Dallas Tx when I purchased. It has some dings and paint needs attention but very presentable and drivable as is. It does have one area of rust that has finally taken hold on the left rear fender (as seen in photos). However, it is not yet "rotted" thru as the inside lip feels solid. the other areas you see are truly surface. It has NONE of the usual Bronco rust rot issues that you usually see. All is solid except as noted and very much a candidate for either full restoration or just inexpensive cosmetic touch up and driving. Mechanically I did everything to this car so that should not need any attention other than continued regular maintenance. When I got it in 2011, I did all fluids, belts, hoses ignition wiring and so forth. It has a completely replaced ignition and starting system from the battery to the starter...like new tires and so forth. The minor issues it has is the dash light for airbag blinks (4-2 I think) and the cable is stretching on the driver inside door handle opener but it works...I would replace but dont have the money...I would not be selling if I didnt need the money. The Air Conditiong works great. Heat works great. The rear window work great (only from the key in the door but not the dash switch)...The 5 speed (4 plus overdrive) manual transmission I had taken out and had it gone over and brought up to spec and replaced the clutch...pressure plate and throwout bearing...it gets 14 miles to the gallon...Bronco owners will appreciate that as Broncos can usually go at 9 mpg. I had all the brakes, rotor discs, fluid, lines and so on replaced or at least checked. Any questions let me know. Also, I wanted to mention, I only use synthetic oil and it does not leak or burn oil, the rear door and window work!, and you will see that the lower driver's side dash seems to be not installed...that is because I had removed an old alarm system and forgot to reinstall the fuse door and the panel screws but took the pictures anyway...its all good now. Very reliable and well maintained truck. Buy it and drive it anywhere and do the cosmetics at your leisure without the usual "pig in a poke" discovery of basic running gear that needs replacing. This one is solid.
And I DO RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END AUCTION EARLY AS I HAVE IT LISTED LOCALLY. Thanks for looking. |

BMW V8-powered Ford Model A is the definition of Hot Rod
Thu, 20 Jun 2013Today, hotrodding has a pretty staid definition. Take one classic American car, add one classic American V8, sprinkle with tire smoke and you pretty much have every hot rod to roll out of a shop in the last 40 years. Mike Borroughs knows it wasn't always this way. Once upon a time, getting your bucket to go faster meant grabbing whatever parts were lazing about the yard, bolting them together with a bit of ingenuity and laughing your way down the quarter mile. It's in that spirit that Burroughs built his 1928 Ford Model A.
Rather than turn to the tired flathead or the common Chevrolet small block, Burroughs plucked a 4.0-liter V8 from a 1995 BMW 7 Series. With 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque, the engine has no trouble shuffling the old A around town. He had to build a custom chassis to get everything to cooperate, but the result is a 1,500-pound heathen that looks built to harass dry lake beds. You can check it out in the video below. Be warned, the soundtrack by Hanni el Khatib may not be safe for work - awesomeness of this caliber rarely is.
Obama to herald auto industry turnaround from idled Ford plant
Tue, Jan 6 2015President Barack Obama will tout the recent successes of the American auto industry in a speech on Wednesday. This would be a fine and dandy plan aside from two small hitches. First, the president is visiting Ford's Wayne, MI factory, which is rather strange considering the government bailed out the company's local rivals, Chrysler and General Motors. Even more worrying, considering the topic of the speech, is that the Wayne facility has been idled due to a lack of demand. According to The Detroit News, the White House said the speech will focus on "the workers in the resurgent American automotive and manufacturing sector now that the auto rescue has been completed and the decision to save the auto industry and the over one million jobs that went with it." Wayne Assembly employs some 5,100 Michiganders when its lines are up and running, but as gas prices have plunged below $2 per gallon in some areas over the past month, its fuel-efficient products – the Focus and C-Max – have seen their sales plummet, as well. In December, the Focus' year-over-year sales were down 4.4 percent, while the C-Max dipped 3.3 percent, Ford told The News. Lagging sales for the two compacts aren't a new thing, though. Focus sales in all of 2014 were down 6.4 percent, while the C-Max struggled with a 21.6-percent drop last year. According to The News, Ford made the decision to idle the factory before being approached by the White House. Considering that, we wonder what the team at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue was thinking when it selected the Ford facility, and what impact the location will have on the president's message. The big dune jump and the damage done
Mon, 20 May 2013The Silver Lake sand dunes see their fair share of well-built trophy trucks executing impressive jumps. Drivers build insane pieces of machinery for the express purpose of sailing through the air like mad men and women.
Mike Higgins is no stranger to the area. His heavily modified Ford trophy truck has gone flying through the sky on more than one occasion, but he recently bit off more than he could chew. After hitting a particularly lofty dune, Higgins went airborne for a ridiculous 180 feet before becoming intimately familiar with the finer points of gravity.
While Higgins nailed the jump, his landing fell short of wowing the judges. The impact very nearly broke his truck in two. Despite the mechanical mayhem, the driver walked away without a scratch, proving that occasionally miracles really do happen. You can check out the jump and the subsequent destruction below for yourself. Be warned: there's a fair bit of foul language.
