1990 Ford Bronco 4x4 Fuel Injected 5.0 With Low Miles Removable Top! on 2040-cars
Sun Valley, California, United States
Selling my 1990 Ford BRONCO XLT with removable top. It has a fuel injected 5.0 engine from a 1992 Crown Victoria, that gets 16MPG on the freeway. The engine has just around 100K miles on it and the truck itself has 116.5K. The engine runs strong, smooth, and quiet...can't even hear it idle at a stoplight. Two different mechanics that worked on the truck commented about how impressed they were with this engine. It does leak a bit of oil but runs very strong. The transmission shifts just as it should. It is a 4WD but, the motor that engages the 4WD went out and needs replacement. The part is 80-100 dollars and the Bronco Forum says it's about a half-hour job. The interior is in fair shape...not great but, not bad. There are no cracks in the dashboard. There is a 1-year old AM/FM/CD player with USB input and 4 speakers. The rear seat is removable and in great shape. The body is pretty straight with a small ding near the spare tire and a dent/wrinkle thing near the passenger side door. A paint job would make this ole Bronc look great. I have to sell because I need a van and cannot afford to have both. I bought this Bronco with the idea to totally restore it. I have put 2,500 dollars into it over the last 6 months. I have receipts. Below is a list of those things replaced: HEATER CORE --- WATER PUMP --- FAN ---SPARK PLUGS --- POWER STEERING PUMP --- POWERSTEERING PRESSURE SWITCH --- FUEL PUMP --- SPARK PLUGS --- ACCEL IGNITION PARTS (Cap, Rotor, Wires, SuperCoil) --- WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR --- STARTER --- 4X4 SWITCH --- FIRESTONE DESTINATION A/T TIRES (4K miles; w/warranty). Within the last year these parts were also replaced: RADIATOR --- HOSES --- THERMOSTAT --- CATALYTIC CONVERTER --- BATTERY --- STEERING BOX (rebuilt). There are a few issues still to deal with but, nothing that would prevent you from using this as a daily driver, right now. It is currently my daily driver. I drive it on 120 mile round trips up the coast, all of the time. Truck purrs like a kitten! Here are known issues: Crack in windshield, 4WD motor, oil leak, Oil Pressure Gauge, Latch for Center Console, Driver Floor Mat, Wiper Knob, and occasional 'whine' from rear (bearing or something?) that's been that way since I got the truck and never been a problem, even on a 350 mile trip. That's about it. Please email any questions prior to purchase. I reserve the right to nullify auction results if ebay system is interrupted during final hour of bidding. I also reserve the right to end auction early if truck sells locally. Winning Bidder responsible for shipping/pickup. I will cooperate with shipping company as much as possible. I will pick you up at LAX or Burbank Airport, if you want to fly in and drive home. Full Payment due within 48 hours of close of auction. This Bronc will be a nice, dependable beast for many years to come. |

VW going turbo-only in 3 to 4 years
Wed, 18 Sep 2013This really was a matter of when, rather than if. Volkswagen will apparently be the first manufacturer to phase out naturally aspirated engines in favor of turbocharging its full slate. VW is kind of responsible for ushering in this push towards small-displacement, turbocharged engines that's taken the industry by storm. When it dropped its direct-injection, 2.0-liter turbo in the 2005 GTI it demonstrated that strapping an iron long to an engine can enhance the powertrain as a whole. VW made fuel economy gains, while also giving a linear, non-laggy turbo experience that it has replicated, model-after-model, to this day.
Speaking with The Detroit News, Volkswagen's executive Vice President of Group Quality, Marc Trahan, told the paper that, "We only have one normally aspirated gas engine, and when we go to the next generation vehicle that it's in, it will be replaced. So three, four years maximum."
Really, it's hard to get teary-eyed about either of these engines going away. VW has access to smaller powerplants that could easily match the performance of the 2.5 five-cylinder and the 3.6 V6, while gobbling up less fuel and providing a better driving experience. What we are sad about is that a similar statement about the extinction of NA engines came from the Vice President of Powertrain Engineering at Ford, Joe Bakaj. We'd certainly get teary-eyed over a world without Ford's excellent 5.0-liter V8.
Ford Mustang challenges Lamborghini in amazing drift battle
Fri, Dec 18 2015Engines scream and tires billow with smoke as Vaughn Gittin Jr. and Daigo Saito stage a drift battle through an abandoned Japanese resort that looks like a Russian village in this stunning clip. The high-performance ballet of these amazing machines sliding around makes this one of the best videos of the year. To fight this duel, Gittin straps into his 550-horsepower Ford Mustang, and Saito meets the pony car's challenge with a drift-prepped Lamborghini Murcielago. The drivers hit a curving road and show expert car control as the men slide these very different vehicles just inches from each other. Eventually, night descends, and they add some fire to the scene to give the stunts a more apocalyptic look. The production values for this short clip are phenomenal, and the editing makes the viewer feel right in the middle of the action. If you want to get behind the scenes of this impressive display of drifting, Speedhunters did a great job capturing the event in photos. Related Video:
Ford of India in hot water for Figo celebrity bondage ads
Fri, 22 Mar 2013Apparently sensibilities in India, at least in the case of some Ford marketing partners, are downright lascivious at times. Case in point are a new series of print ads, presumably touting the vast cargo capacity of the Ford Figo hatchback, that involve more than a whiff of T&A, S&M and other sexy abbreviations.
In all seriousness, the advertising campaign is taking some major heat in the Indian press for being outrageously sexist. All three images - which seem to be produced by a graphic artist with some Heavy Metal work in his/her portfolio - show bound and gagged people stuffed into the Figo's boot. With a tagline reads, "Leave Your Worries Behind." one version features a peace-sign throwing Silvio Berlusconi holding hostage three buxom and barely clad women, all wearing ball gags with hands and feet bound. Charming. Another version shows Paris Hilton similarly kidnapping a trio of Kardashians, while a third (tame in terms of the clothing at least), has Michael Schumacher toting Sebastian Vettel, Fernando Alonso, and Lewis Hamilton.
Clearly in bad taste, at least, the Indian source also questions the timing of these risqué Ford ads, as the follow by days new anti-rape legislation passed by the Indian Parliament. Ford has responded in a statement, that it and its advertising partner (JWT India) "deeply regret" the ads, and claim that they "never should have happened."
