1989 Ford Bronco Xlt Elx 1000 Full Size Regatta Blue And White on 2040-cars
Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States
This super Bronco took us on many memorable camping trips, but we're getting to old to maintain this classic and had to get a newer truck. The last emissions test we had done was in July 2012 and it passed fine. It's been parked in our driveway for about 6 months. Please excuse the remaining camping dirt. The body has some rust spots in the usual places, but we don't get much rain here in New Mexico so there isn't much rust anywhere else. The clear coat, however, has suffered some from our 310 days of annual sunshine. No dents. The upholstery and carpet are in great condition with the exception of a small hole on the driver's seat and the carpet needs a good cleaning. There are the normal, expected scrapes and scratches etc. in a utility vehicle of this age. The arm rest on the driver's seat is there but doesn't work properly. The brakes were totally re-done by Midas a few years ago. It has a remote start and alarm that have been disconnected because they were causing problems for us. It leaks power steering fluid and that will definitely need to be fixed (it is currently empty). The engine starts right up and runs great. The transmission was rebuilt around three years ago at AAMCO. New Goodyear Wrangler Dura Trac tires and new rims were put on at 135,200 miles and are in great shape. Very dark tint was added to the windows. It has a Pioneer 12-disc CD changer stereo, tachometer, light group, VERY cold A/C, floor console, California emissions system, limited slip rear axle, tow package, manual locking hubs, rear window defroster, and a removable white fiberglass roof, a newish battery, and a large file of maintenance records and manuals. Please let me know if you have any questions or would like any more pictures. Thanks!

VW going turbo-only in 3 to 4 years
Wed, 18 Sep 2013This really was a matter of when, rather than if. Volkswagen will apparently be the first manufacturer to phase out naturally aspirated engines in favor of turbocharging its full slate. VW is kind of responsible for ushering in this push towards small-displacement, turbocharged engines that's taken the industry by storm. When it dropped its direct-injection, 2.0-liter turbo in the 2005 GTI it demonstrated that strapping an iron long to an engine can enhance the powertrain as a whole. VW made fuel economy gains, while also giving a linear, non-laggy turbo experience that it has replicated, model-after-model, to this day.
Speaking with The Detroit News, Volkswagen's executive Vice President of Group Quality, Marc Trahan, told the paper that, "We only have one normally aspirated gas engine, and when we go to the next generation vehicle that it's in, it will be replaced. So three, four years maximum."
Really, it's hard to get teary-eyed about either of these engines going away. VW has access to smaller powerplants that could easily match the performance of the 2.5 five-cylinder and the 3.6 V6, while gobbling up less fuel and providing a better driving experience. What we are sad about is that a similar statement about the extinction of NA engines came from the Vice President of Powertrain Engineering at Ford, Joe Bakaj. We'd certainly get teary-eyed over a world without Ford's excellent 5.0-liter V8.
2015 Ford Mustang revs it up at Cars & Coffee
Mon, 09 Dec 2013Just because the new 2015 Ford Mustang has officially been released, you didn't think that would be the end of the matter - did you? Of course not. There'll still be plenty of rumors, reports and video footage to bring you. Like this, the first non-official footage of the new pony car in the wild.
Shot by YouTube user SotA1080 and dug up by our friends at CarBuzz, this clip shows the new Mustang posing for photos (alongside other Mustangs) and starting up its engine at the most recent gathering of Cars & Coffee in Irvine, CA. And this being the GT model, it's not packing the V6 or the turbo four, but the red-blooded 5.0-liter V8 that tells us and enthusiasts worldwide that the new Mustang has not lost its way. Scroll on down to watch the footage for yourself.
Watch live as Mark Fields is officially named Ford's next CEO
Thu, 01 May 2014We've heard rumblings of a changing of the guard at Ford, and this live stream from The Blue Oval itself is set to confirm the rumors: Alan Mulally will be succeeded by the automaker's current Chief Operating Officer, Mark Fields.
Mulally, who is 68 years old, has served at the head of Ford for eight years, and his official retirement date will be July 1st, 2014. Fields, who is 53 this year, has been with Ford for 25 years and has been groomed to take the helm from Mulally for the last several of those years.
There's an official press release that you can read, but if you're more of a visual person, you're welcome to watch the live video feed of the announcement down below.
