Up for auction is a 1987 FORD BRONCO FULL SIZE WITH THE CUSTOM PACKAGE. The Custom Package comes from the factory as the base model (the most desirable for collectors) and consists of a no-frills interior with rubber flooring, vinyl seats, manual windows, manual door locks, power steering, power disc brakes, air conditioning, a manual four speed transmission, four wheel drive and a power rear window. This Bronco was owned by one of the members of the King family, the owners of the famed King Ranch in South Texas and has his name on the CLEAR TEXAS TITLE, THE TRUCK WAS ORIGINALLY PURCHASED AND HAS ALWAYS LIVED IN DRY SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS. The tires are ALMOST NEW BF GOODRICH ALL TERRAIN TIRES and this truck is IN FANTASTIC SHAPE with the ORIGINAL PAINT ( the clear coat has come off the hood and some of the edges on the body which is typical of silver paint on Fords) , NO RUST, NO WRECKS OR DAMAGE TO THE BODY EVER. You can tell by looking at the chassis of this truck that THIS BRONCO HAS SEEN VERY LITTLE OFF ROAD USE, I was told by Mr. King that the off road use was limited to the dirt roads around the ranch. The truck is a FACTORY CUSTOM PACKAGE which consists of RUBBER FLOORING THAT YOU CAN WASH OUT WITH A WATER HOSE IF YOU CHOOSE TOO, VINYL BUCKET SEATS UP FRONT AND A MATCHING VINYL BENCH SEAT IN THE BACK, POWER STEERING, POWER DISC BRAKES, FOUR WHEEL DRIVE WITH MANUAL LOCKING HUBS, A FOUR SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION, AIR CONDITIONING (blows cold) and AM/FM/ CASSETTE RADIO (stock stereo still works but stock speakers need replacing). Like the exterior of the truck the interior is also in superb condition, there is a tear in the rubber flooring on the passenger side, the stock shifter knob will not tighten down and is somewhat annoying, and the gas gauge works perfectly (when it wants too) but other than that everything works as it should, THE DASH HAS NO CRACKS, and the truck is very comfortable, clean and has no funny smells etc. I have just had $1200.00 of work done on the truck (10/21/13) at Cambridge Automotive, San Antonio's best automotive shop according to AAA. Cambridge did a safety check, serviced the air conditioning, a full lubrication service, a major tune up, a fuel injection service, installed a NEW AC DELCO BATTERY and fixed the rear power window. The invoice for all this recent work come with the sell of the truck and all work and parts are fully warranted for 24 months or 24,000 miles and Cambridge will honor the warranty if the buyer is not from San Antonio. The buyer would just have to take the truck to a AAA approved place of repair and Cambridge will incur any and all cost of work that is under their warranty. The Bronco passed the safety inspection with flying colors and the only thing that was recommended by Cambridge is that the truck may need a new muffler at some point in the near future. The truck still has the original exhaust system on it and although the exhaust system is still fully functional and quiet, Cambridge said that the muffler is old( but it did not NEED to be replaced AT THIS TIME). This Bronco is VERY DEPENDABLE AND SOLID, IT IS A VEHICLE THAT YOU CAN FLY IN AND DRIVE HOME FROM ANYWHERE. The only non-stock items on this Bronco is the BF GOODRICH tires and the RANCH HAND FRONT GRILL GUARD, everything else is BONE FACTORY STOCK. The FOUR WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM WORKS FLAWLESSLY and the FRONT END IS TIGHT WITH NO PLAY OR WANDERING, the BRAKES ARE GOOD AND TRUE AND DO NOT PULL UNDER HARD BRAKING. The way I came to have this Bronco is that I have built multiple 1978-79 Ford Broncos from the ground up and the last one I built was a 1979 that I owned and drove for 12 years. Mr. King bought my 1979 Bronco from me 6 years ago with the understanding that if he ever wanted to sell it that I would have first right of refusal so true to his word Mr. King called me a few months ago and told me he was thinking of selling the 1979 Bronco and asked me if I wanted to buy it back. Of course I was curious and went to look at my old 79 Bronco and when I arrived at Mr. Kings home I noticed this 1987 Bronco also sitting in his shop and made an offer on both Bronco's which he accepted, I am keeping my old friend (the 1979 Bronco that I built all those years ago) and was planning to keep this 1987 Bronco to drive on my ranch in Colorado but after careful consideration I have decided that a truck would better serve me on the ranch and I do not need two Broncos so this 1987 is now up for auction. This Bronco is NOT your typical "ridden hard and put up wet" Bronco, this Bronco has been very well taken care of and it shows throughout the truck. THIS IS A RARE OPPORTUNITY TO OWN ONE OF THE MOST DESIRABLE BRONCOS IN EXISTENCE. THEY JUST DO NOT COME UP FOR SALE IN THIS WONDERFUL STOCK CONDITION WITH THESE OPTIONS. DO NOT LET THIS BRONCO PASS YOU BY, YOU WILL REGRET IT. IF YOU HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THE BEST BRONCO YOU CAN FIND , LOOK NO FURTHER, THIS IS IT !!!!!!! THIS BRONCO ALSO COMES WITH ALL THE ORIGINAL BOOKS, MANUALS, WARRANTY CARDS, TRIM TAG, SERVICE AGREEMENT, ETC. FROM THE FACTORY WHEN THE TRUCK WAS BRAND NEW AND HAS ONLY 109600 ORIGINAL MILES. THIS BRONCO IS PRICED AT HALF THE COST OF ANY COMPARABLE BRONCO ON EBAY, YOU JUST CAN'T GO WRONG WITH THIS ONE. Please checkout my feedback, bid with confidence and bid to win this BEAUTIFUL FACTORY ORIGINAL 1987 FORD BRONCO CUSTOM PACKAGE. Thank you for looking at my auction, be sure to check out my other auctions and as always HAPPY MOTORING. ****A $500.00 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT IS DUE 24 HOURS AFTER THE CLOSE OF THE AUCTION AND THE REMAINDER OF THE FUNDS ARE DUE WITHIN 7 DAYS OF THE CLOSE OF THE AUCTION.*******

As a segment, fullsize vans are stealth-fighter invisible on most consumers' radar. Visit a dealership for any of the four brands that offer them and you'll be lucky to find even one on display. These are commercial vehicles primarily, even more so than pickup trucks. Vans are the shuttles for plumbers, caterers, carpenters, concrete layers, masons, electricians, florists and flooring, and a huge part of this country's productivity is accomplished using them. At the moment, Ford is the 800-pound gorilla in that room - fully 41 percent of commercial vehicles wear a Blue Oval. So when Ford announced three years ago it would be ditching its commercial bread-and-butter E-Series, it meant the Transit that would be replacing the Econoline had huge, 53-year-old shoes to fill.
We were still a bit nostalgic about Econoline vans going away until going directly from the Transit first drive in Kansas City to an E-350 airport shuttle. Climb up through the Econoline's tiny double doors and bang your head on the opening, crouch all the way to your seat then enjoy a loud, rattle-prone, creaky, harsh ride on beam-hard seats while struggling to see out the low windows. This is an experience nearly every traveler has had. By comparison, the Transits we'd just spent two days with were every bit of the four decades better they needed to be. It cannot be understated just how much better the Transit is in every single way. The load floor is barely more than knee high. There's a huge side door, and hitting your head on a door opening is nearly impossible. Stand up all the way if you're under six-foot, six-inches - no more half-hunching down the aisle. There are windows actually designed to be looked out of. The ride is buttery smooth, no booming vibration from un-restrained metal panels and no squeaks. Conversations can be held at normal levels rather than yelling over the roar of an ancient V8. The seats are comfortable. The AC is cold. There are cupholders.
Enough anecdote-laying, what's in a Transit? We're talking about a very fullsized unibody van that's enjoyed a 49-year history in Ye Olde Europe. This latest iteration is part of the "One Ford" initiative, so it was designed as a global offering from the get-go, eschewing the body-on-frame construction the E-Series has used since 1975. Instead, the Transit integrates a rigid ladder frame into an overall frame construction made of high-strength cold-rolled and boron steel. The suspension is a simple but well-tuned Macpherson strut array up front with a rear solid axle and leaf springs.

As difficult as it is to write this, I was actually excited about the 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid. With the beautiful looks of the newest midsize fighter from Ford and a fuel economy estimate capable of shaming even the stalwart Camry Hybrid, the battery-augmented four-door seemed like a recipe for unabashed success. But appearances love nothing more than swapping our boundless enthusiasm for cold platters of disappointment. The 2013 Fusion Hybrid gets hobbled right out of the gate with a lofty price tag, and real-world driving keeps the sedan from even approaching those EPA figures.
With so many excellent midsize hybrids on the market, is there any reason to consider the newest Fusion Hybrid? Are sharp aesthetics, a well-executed interior and capable driving dynamics enough to overcome the machine's shortfalls? Not from where I'm standing.

Consumer Reports has taken aim at at small-displacement, forced-induction engines, saying the powerplants don't manage to deliver on automaker fuel economy claims. Manufacturers have long held that smaller, turbocharged engines pack all power of their larger displacement cousins with significantly better fuel economy, but the research organization says that despite scoring high EPA economy numbers, the engines are no better than conventional drivetrains in both categories. Jake Fisher, director of automotive testing for Consumer Reports, says the forced induction options "are often slower and less fuel efficient than larger four and six-cylinder engines."
Specifically, CR calls out the new Ford Fusion equipped with the automaker's Ecoboost 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. The institute's researchers found the engine, which is a $795 option over the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder, fails to match competitors in acceleration and served up 25 miles per gallon in testing, putting the sedan dead last among other midsize options.
The Chevrolet Cruze, Hyundai Sonata Turbo and Ford Escape 2.0T all got dinged for the same troubles, though Consumer Reports has found the turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the BMW 328i does deliver on its promises. You can check out the full press release below. You can also read the full study on the Consumer Reports site, or scroll down for a short video recap.
