Up for auction is a 1971 Ford Bronco with half cab. It has a 170 cui inline 6 motor with 3 speed column shift manual transmission. This bronco is mainly stock except for the lift kit that was installed by the previous owner and a new wiring harness that I had installed a few years ago. It sits on 33X12.5" tires with Rancho suspension. I hate to sell it but I have not had time to work on it or to enjoy it. It should be with someone who can.

There is very little rust, just some minor rust on windshield and top. There is some minor surface rust on floor and inside of hood but nothing major. I believe the pictures show the condition very well. The wheel wells and floor panels are solid which is quite rare for these trucks. The interior is in pretty rough condition as far as missing carpets and dash being in rough shape. The windshield motor is not installed but I do have it and the cover, but I have no idea if it works or not.

The engine fires right up but could use a rebuild or at least a tune up. It is pretty impressive that it runs as well as it does.  It is 42 years old after all and I do not know if it has ever been rebuilt. The transmission is in similar condition. I believe it needs a new clutch, but it does work. the steering and brakes are manual. No luxuries here. The last time I started it the brakes did not work. I think they may just need to be bled. The steering's gear box is showing some wear so there is some play in the steering. This bronco has dual gas tanks that can be switched over by a valve below the drivers seat. I believe the sending units are out because the fuel gauge does not work.

I am by no way a mechanic so these are just guesses on the condition of the vehicle, but this would make a great project with the condition of the body being so good. The mileage is unknown since the gauge cluster has been replaced a few times. Bronco also comes with some extra trim as well as some other parts. Do not really remember what is all there.

Bronco is located in Milbank, South Dakota. The Buyer is responsible for shipping charges. Payment is to be made via cashiers check, or cash in person. Once payment has been cleared, a clear  title will be provided, along with a bill of sale and the vehicle will be released for pickup or delivery.  A $500 non refundable deposit via Paypal is required upon auction end.

If you have any questions, please contact Eric at (605)-228-7143.  I will be happy to answer any questions and I apologize if I forgot to mention anything. Thank you for looking. I believe the new owner will be very happy with it.

Ford EcoSport Storm concept swallows a Raptor in Sao Paulo

Sun, 02 Nov 2014

Ford rolled into the Sao Paulo Motor Show with some pretty cool crossovers in tow, the awesomest of all being the EcoSport Storm concept shown above, which draws its inspiration directly from the F-150 SVT Raptor. It packs a lower grille clearly derived from the now-famous muscle truck, as well as a Blue Storm paint job, black and silver trim, special graphics, lower body cladding and 215/75 R15 off-road tires. Don't go holding your breath for a supercharged V8, though; made locally in Brazil, India and Thailand, the tiny EcoSport is typically powered by a three- or four-cylinder engine.
The Storm isn't the only specially prepared Ecosport on show, however, joined as it is by another pair called Beauty and the Beast. Beauty is decked out in matte copper with a black roof, LED fog lamps, 18-inch wheels with low-profile tires and an interior complete with four individual bucket seats, leather upholstery and a full multimedia suite. The Beast, meanwhile, takes a sportier approach with a white pearl finish, blue and orange trim and three-bar grille. It also wears 18-inch wheels and LED fog lamps, but its interior swaps out its rear seats for a bike rack.
Joining the EcoSport show cars was an Edge crossover equipped with all the latest technologies and done up in bright red with three-bar grille, bulging hood, and an interior featuring 10-inch touchscreens and leather upholstery. Feel free to read more in the press release below.

Ford Green Zone works magic with GPS to make your drive smarter, cleaner

Fri, Aug 29 2014

For the most part, plug-in hybrids rely on the power stored in the battery until that charge is depleted. Unless the switch can be changed manually, it's only then that the cars fire up the internal combustion engine and begin using the fossil fuels on board. This is ideal, of course, when one's drive isn't long enough that the car needs to start sipping gasoline at all. On longer commutes, when it's certain that the route is longer than the car's all-electric range, this isn't necessarily the most efficient use of energy. Ford's Green Zone system is designed to save some of that juice for the parts of the drive that require slower speeds. Ford is working on a smart system, based on Nokia mapping technology, that uses GPS data to use both the electricity and conventional fuel more efficiently. Since battery power is less efficient at highway speeds, Ford's Green Zone system is designed to save some of that juice for the parts of the drive that require slower speeds, rather than just using up all the electrons right at the beginning of the drive. Using a website or the in-car navigation system, the driver can pinpoint the parts of the route, highlighted in green, where using battery power would be more effective, and set the car to automatically switch to electricity for those sections. Depending on the route, the car could automatically switch back and forth between the two power sources multiple times, particularly if the drive is a mix between city and highway driving. Of course, Green Zone will be go beyond that. The program is being developed to take traffic and road grade into account, details that allow the car to be make even smarter choices to improve efficiency. Ford even hopes to have Green Zone learn driver habits, and respond accordingly depending on who is driving the car. The system could control other features as well, such as anticipating corners and shifting the headlights to better illuminate the road ahead. Green Zone could also potentially use information from vehicle-to-vehicle networking to control functions in the car. The Green Zone system still has a few years before it will be ready to be put into production vehicles, but Ford is confident it will make its way onto the road eventually. As with other innovations that improve efficiency and make our vehicles smarter, we can expect to see similar technology from other manufacturers, until it becomes a regular part of driving in the future.

Ford to rebrand SVT as 999?

Mon, 22 Sep 2014

Ford operates a number of performance divisions around the world. There's SVT in the US, Team RS in Europe and Ford Performance Vehicles (FPV) in Australia. But the Blue Oval has been steadily integrating its performance operations into one unit, and here we might have our first indication of what it will be called.
A reader at Jalopnik sent in a survey in which respondents were asked to gauge the name for a new performance brand from a "major automotive manufacturer," and while the identity of that automaker was not disclosed, according to the survey, the automaker is considering the name 999 for its new go-fast unit.
As our compatriots point out, the 999 was Ford's first racecar, a rudimentary chassis with a 19-liter inline-four campaigned by Henry Ford around the turn of the 20th century. (Ford also used the number to designate a Fusion fuel-cell racer a few years back.) That could prove the tie-in Dearborn is looking for in rebranding its performance operations worldwide, replacing the letters SVT, RS and FPV globally under one name.
