99% rust free!  The doors close so factory firm, there's a ping to them.

I purchased this from the grandson of the original 1970 purchaser.  Approximately 1000 miles put on it since 1991 (maintenance sticker is on the door dated 1991 with 32,500 or so miles logged; the grandfather passed away shortly after).    Always garaged since new.  Grandpa used it for rock hunting hobby in Wyoming (only in the clear weather times).  He also had an International 4x4 truck that was used for most transportation & some rock hunting.

There is a wood shelf mounted that Grandpa had for his dog to sit on behind his head (can be removed).  A grab handle is on the passenger side of the dash which was for Grandma to pull herself into Bronco.  Grandpa also must have discovered black spray sealent as you can see in the engine compartment.  Sealed any possibility of air leaks around all cables, etcetera.  He also kind of shielded areas where rocks might grab in the tires, fly up, scratch or dent the underside.  As mentioned he'd go 4 wheel'n to look for his rock gems.  Where there's rocks there's pebbles which get caught in tire tread & fly.  He probably had more rough ready tires at that time.  The 4x4 hubs lock/unlock and works.  The floor 4x4 engager is stiff, but gets all ranges.  1000 miles since 1991 needs some lube spraying for sure.  No water leaks, overheating, or oil smoke (at start up or driving).  All gauges work correctly.  I have not tried the tank switch yet (not sure how it works but will read up on it).  Everything works (lights, roll up windows, forgot to push horn to fry-will report when know).  Glass is almost perfect with the windshield having two BB/stone spots on the passenger side, but all clear/no cracks/no fogging/no seperation.  According to the grandson, the top has never been off and the windshield has never been down.  The rear hatch lift window & tailgate work as new.  Locks all work.

Has two gas tanks, the original jack parts/spare, some small parts, two old type flares, four oil filters/old oil cans & an old fashoned magnetic trouble light.  The original air cleaner assembly is included (original carb was replaced).

Other pictures are available including one of the original air cleaner (in excellent condition), engine, wheel wells, more floor areas, etc.  Two locking gas caps w/keys are in parts (previous owner/grandson liked the blue painted caps.  Grandson said he changed oil-filter.  He drained the water system for most of the storage period after he inherited it.  He added new antifreeze to the empty system a couple weeks ago do to selling decision.  That decision was due to divorce.  Other new items: shocks & fuel pump.

Has original rubber floor mat.  Vehicle ID plates are in correct places.  Florida title.

2015 Ford Mustang gets pricing, configurator and less weight than expected

Fri, 13 Jun 2014

It's here; it's finally here. No more speculating or looking at dealer order guides, the configurator for the 2015 Ford Mustang is finally online. That means you should put down whatever you're doing and build your new 'Stang. Weight data for the new model has also leaked out, and while there is an increase, it's less than previously rumored.
The basic V6 coupe carries a base price of $23,600, plus an additional $825 destination charge for all models. Upgrading to the 2.3-liter Ecoboost costs $25,170, and the Ecoboost Premium is $29,170. If you need a V8 in your life, the Mustang GT is $32,100 or $36,100 with the Premium package. That puts the starting price up about $1,000 over the previous generation for the V6, but the turbocharged four-cylinder starts about $1,400 less than the V6 Premium, which is no longer available. Prices for both V8 models jumped about $1,000, as well.
If you need the convertible Mustang, the V6 starts at $29,100, excluding destination, $1,590 more than last year. The Ecoboost Premium 'vert is $34,670, and the GT droptop is $41,600.

Ford E-Series chassis cabs and cutaways to survive mass Transit onslaught

Fri, 18 Apr 2014

In March 2013, Ford announced we'd be getting chassis cab and cutaway versions of the Transit. Since incoming Transit vans will soon be rolling over the grave of the E-Series van, it was assumed that all E-Series models would go six feet under as well. According to a report from PickupTrucks.com, however, that's not the case, the report claiming that the highly modifiable E-350 and E-450 chassis cab and cutaway versions will continue being produced in Avon Lake, Ohio "at least until 2020."
Being decades old, the be-cabbed E-Series platform has found its way under an army of heavy-duty shuttle buses, work truck and ambulances. Ford spokeswoman Jessica Enoch verified the production horizon, telling Autoblog that the particular E-Series configuration "are a higher GVWR than the Transit chassis cab and cutaway (available this summer), which is more Class 2 and a new segment for us." So there you have it.

Ford using robot drivers to test durability [w/video]

Sun, 16 Jun 2013

In testing the durability of its upcoming fullsize Transit vans, Ford has begun using autonomous robotic technology to pilot vehicles through the punishing courses of its Michigan Proving Grounds test facility. The autonomous tech allows Ford to run more durability tests in a single day than it could with human drivers, as well as create even more challenging tests that wouldn't be safe to run with a human behind the wheel.
The technology being used was developed by Utah-based Autonomous Solutions, and isn't quite like the totally autonomous vehicles being developed by companies like Google and Audi for use out in the real world. Rather, Ford's autonomous test vehicles follow a pre-programmed course and their position is tracked via GPS and cameras that are being monitored from a central control room. Though the route is predetermined, the robotic control module operates the steering, acceleration and braking to keep the vehicle on course as it drives over broken concrete, cobblestones, metal grates, rough gravel, mud pits and oversize speed bumps.
Scroll down to watch the robotic drivers in action, though be warned that you're headed for disappointment if you expect to see a Centurion behind the wheel (nerd alert!). The setup looks more like a Mythbusters experiment than a scene from Battlestar Galactica.
