1968 Ford Bronco on 2040-cars
Nashville, Tennessee, United States
33” All Terrain Tires - Good Tread Original Bronco Power Steering Box Set up ($500.00) New Saginaw Steering Pump Roll Cage - TBP Deluxe Family 8 point ($500.00) Bestop Super Top ($500.00) Power Brakes 4 pc Steering Linkage with adjustable Drag Link a few years old ($299.00) New track bar bushings Twin Stick Shifters for Transfer Case 3 Speed moved to the Floor Transmission rebuilt a few years ago ($300.00) New Auburn Rear End ($1,200) 3.5” Lift New Holley 4 BBL Carb ($300.00) Upgraded Electric Wipers Hedman Headers with good exhaust system, about 7 years old. This ‘68 Bronco is a strong running Bronco, with many of the big ticket items already purchased. Great as is, or as an easy restoration project. I have been told the motor is not original, and best I can tell it is a 302 from a 1968 Fairlane. Regardless, it runs strong. The transfer case works, drips a little, but works great - never any issues. The transmission was rebuilt a few years ago. It does look like at one point someone welded a front and a back bumper on, then used a cutting torch to remove. Anyone with any welding experience could make quick work of this if desired. Nevertheless, the frame has been cut on a little at these points. Please refer to the pictures in this regards. The frame VIN matches the glove box tag, so I am certain they have been together since day 1. There is a very small amount rust for a 46 year old truck. The tailgate has some rust spots and some bond work, but nothing major. The door posts are solid. The Bronco was painted black when I bought it back in November ’06. It was originally “Peacock Blue”, and I had an $700 Econo job done. It is exactly that - a $700.00 paint job, but I get a lot of positive comments. Definitely a head turner, but it =is chipping off a few places. The interior has been “rhino lined” for protection. One good thing about the ‘68s - when you have the top of, the window frames unscrew and slip out, to give a clean look. Steering box has been rebuilt, but to me, seems a little sloppy. The tires are not a major brand name, but still have about 90% of tread left. It came with the original hard top that a PO mounted a luggage rack on, causing it to leak bad. I removed the glass and aluminum trim, and trashed the metal. I do not recommend driving past speeds of 55 until the steering is tweaked. The brakes could stand to be re-done, they work, but pull a little to the right. It seems once the it gets wormed up good, it quits pulling. FAQs: Does it run? Yes. Does it leak? It has a few leaks, nothing major. How is the electrical? It’s there. The battery is better than any battery I have ever owned....always has cranking power, no matter how long it sits. It does look like the harness was replaced with, best I can tell, a Centech harness. The only issue I really notice, is some of the time one of the turn signals doesn’t work, and they do not shut off by themselves. This is a plastic part inside the steering wheel that is broken but easily purchased and replaced. It does have a new voltage regulator on it. How does it drive? Like a ’68 Bronco with 3.5“ lift kit and 33” tires. It actually drives decent. My wife drives it more than I do. The steering may need some tweaking, but it drives decent. I do not drive on the interstate. The one time I took this Bronco off-road, I was riding in a shallow creek bed, slid on the algae covered limestone and hit an embankment that crumpled the front fender, and messed up the grill. I then managed to tear up the rear-end. So......I had a new Auburn rear end put in, and replaced the grill (winning bidder will also get the original grill), and pounded out the fender and put it back on. An expensive day for me.
I have many extras to include parts for the spare tire rack, fiberglass door inserts for the roadster look, protective cover, Sony stereo, chrome bumper, dash pad, shop manual, side reflectors, grill letters, hard top glass, and aluminum, roadster mirrors, and more. I would make considerably more money parting out, but I can’t do it - this Bronco is too solid to break apart, and money is not my motivation to sell. I hope to try to add a link for a video at some point. If you have questions, please ask prior to bidding. A $500.00 deposit is due by the winning bidder within a reasonable time of auction close. The balance (via cashiers check) will be due upon pick up, or before shipping. I will help in the shipping process. I do hold a clear title. NO TRADES. |

Ford Figo concept unveiled in India
Mon, 03 Feb 2014Ford has officially unveiled the Figo Concept at the 2014 Auto Expo in New Delhi. While it may wear a concept badge, we'd argue this little sedan, which is under 12 feet long, looks ready to replace the current Figo and do battle with other B-segment cars in the world's emerging markets.
"With the Figo Concept, we are showing that choosing a compact sedan does not mean compromising on premium design or smart solutions," said Kumar Galhotra, Ford's VP of engineering, global product development. That premium design includes Ford's familial, trapezoidal grille and Fusion-esque headlights in front, while the rear end reminds us of the last-generation Focus Coupe. While that car wasn't exactly attractive, the chopped off tail looks pretty nice on this smaller car. And if you really don't like the looks of the Figo Concept, just remember - it looks better than the current production model. Aerodynamically, the Figo's shape is quite slippery, which means reduced wind noise and improved fuel economy.
As for the "smart solutions" touted by Galhotra, the narrow confines of Indian streets make driving even the tiniest cars a challenge. To give the Figo Concept a one-up on the competition, Ford has fitted power-folding mirrors that sport a "flexible architecture," which should stand up well to bumps from cars, people or bikes. We don't have any interior images, but Ford is promising a large cabin, that includes a dock that can accommodate a phone or MP3 player, allowing either to be controlled through the car.
Trump tells Detroit 3 CEOs he wants more US jobs, calls environmentalists 'out of control'
Tue, Jan 24 2017As expected, President Donald J. Trump met with top executives from FCA, Ford, and General Motors this morning as part of a larger push to generate jobs in America. "I want new plants to be built here for cars sold here!", Trump said in a tweet ahead of the meeting. Not everything said in the meeting was made public, but the President later tweeted that he had a "Great meeting with automobile industry leaders." FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne, Ford chief Mark Fields, and GM's Mary Barra all echoed the positive vibes after the meeting. In a statement, Barra called the discussion "very constructive and wide-ranging," adding that it focused on "policies that support a strong and competitive economy and auto industry," and "that supports the environment and safety." That's noteworthy, because Trump is reported to have said "I am to a large extent an environmentalist. I believe in it, but it's out of control." Fields, speaking to reporters after the meeting, said, "We're excited about working together with the president and his administration on tax policies, on regulation and on trade to really create a renaissance in American manufacturing." The Ford CEO was specifically talking about Trump's withdraw from the Trans-Pacific Partnership. "We've repeatedly said that the mother of all trade barriers is currency manipulation, and TPP failed in meaningfully dealing with that, and we appreciate the president's courage to walk away from a bad trade deal," he said. Marchionne focused on American manufacturing in his statement after the meeting. "I appreciate the President's focus on making the US a great place to do business. We look forward to working with President Trump and members of Congress to strengthen American manufacturing." Perhaps equally as interesting as what was said and who was invited are what wasn't said and who wasn't invited. Trump has been very vocal about his distaste for US automakers' plants in Mexico, but no mention was made of the North American Free Trade Agreement by Trump or any of the Detroit CEOs after the meeting. We also have to wonder if Trump plans to meet with representatives from German, Japanese, and Korean automakers that have made massive investments into American plants and produce a large number of cars in this country. Chris Harris pits Fiesta ST against Mercedes G63 AMG in 0-60 battle... sort of
Thu, 01 Aug 2013Vehicle performance tests are serious business, with reputations made or broken by things like braking distance, top speed, and lateral g-forces. King of the metrics, though, is the 0-60 run, which for unknown reasons has become the benchmark for what truly makes a car a performance machine.
Now, Chris Harris from Drive has turned the whole idea behind the sprint to 60 on its ear. Taking a new Ford Fiesta ST, Harris asks a simple question: would the ST be quicker to 60 on its own, or on a trailer being towed by a Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG?
It's a fair question, really. The Fiesta Harris tested hit 60 in 7.2 seconds on a slightly uphill section of runway. It should be noted that Harris quotes his ST at 182 horsepower, which is about 15 ponies less than what we're getting in the US, so these numbers might not hold up all that well against an American model. The G63 AMG, meanwhile, is a 536-horsepower monster, powered by a twin-turbo V8 that, able to propel the big SUV to 60 mph in just 5.2 seconds without towing a Fiesta.
