2003 Ford Mustang Svt Cobra Convertible 2-door 4.6l, Dsg With Chrome Wheels. on 2040-cars
Austin, Texas, United States
First, thank you for taking the time to examine my 2003 Dark Shadow Gray Cobra convertible. In truth this is my second go-around with one of these, and I’m not prepared to state it’ll be my last. :) It helps to have a great friend who owns Maximum Velocity Performance in San Antonio. Too bad I never let Tracy modify the engine! Please note I’ve not been one to beat on my cars, and I purchased this convertible as a cruiser, if you will. I guess with middle-age does come some wisdom!
So…to the nuts-and-bolts of the auction. If one is looking at a 2003 Cobra then it’s usually safe to say that he or she already knows about the options and specifics. The car does have factory chrome wheels which are neither rashed nor peeling. It will also come with the regular floor mats as well as the Cobra-Embroidered show-mats. Beyond that it’s about condition and history…
I purchased the car in September of 2010 with 17,307 miles after hiring an outside inspection company to put the car on a lift and examine it. The car currently sits with only 41k miles, as until recently I lived two blocks from work. With a promotion came a commute and these cars can be harsh to drive in rush-hour traffic. I’ve elected to purchase a more comfortable SHO and I don’t have enough free time to enjoy a second car. History of the Cobra shows it has never been in an accident.
If I forget some details please do not hesitate to ask questions as undoubtedly I’ll leave something out.
No front license plate bracket. :)
In the nearly four years I’ve been the owner there have been no breakdowns. New brake pads and rotors were just put on this past month. A drained battery led to an inevitability amongst Cobras…the alternator was going, so it was replaced along with the battery. The TOB (Throwout Bearing) was starting to chatter so I ordered an entirely new clutch assembly from American Muscle and took the car to Maximum Velocity. Since I was taking the transmission down I’d intended on just putting the new clutch in since the car had 41k miles. The mechanic stated the clutch still had 20-30k miles left before it needed to be replaced so I just left it in the car. ***The car will come with a completely new clutch assembly still in the box as part of the sale. My gift to you.*** There are two “mods” on the car, such as they are: 1) I did go ahead and have the adjustable clutch quadrant put in when I had the transmission down. 2) The stock exhaust system was replaced with Borla Stingers, as the car needed a more pronounced note. That’s it. Never tuned, never pullied, not even a cold air intake. Beyond the sound note I wanted, the car was to retain its stock profile.
Imperfections or wear… Keeping in mind the car is in excellent mechanical working condition both under the hood and out with all possible items functioning, there are no perfect cars. I’ve made every attempt to show wear in the pictures. A little wear on the drivers seat, a paint chip on the hood, a little hazing on the headlights, a tiny nick behind the driver’s door…that’s it…normal wear for a twelve year old vehicle. New tires were put on the car when I purchased it, so while they still have some miles remaining on them, they aren’t new. Nitto 275’s are on the wheels.
If there are any questions or inquiries please do not hesitate to ask. The car is for sale locally so if my price is met the car can be sold. Thanks for looking. |

Ford considering return to Le Mans with new EcoBoost LMP2
Mon, 21 Jul 2014If you want to see a Ford racing prototype, you need look no further than the United SportsCar Championship, where the Blue Oval fields two Daytona Prototypes powered by an EcoBoost-branded 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6. But according to the latest rumors, that may not be enough for Ford, which has as much brand to promote overseas as it does back home.
That could be why Racer magazine is reporting that Ford may be poised to return to Le Mans in the coming years. As we all know, Ford competed at Le Mans in the mid-through-late '60s, bringing home four consecutive overall wins with the legendary GT40. The new program would not, according to Racer, seek to relive those glory days, but would instead compete for class wins in the LMP2 category.
Currently, LMP2 regulations are somewhat split between the United SportsCar Championship in North America on the one hand and ACO-sanctioned series like the European Le Mans Series, Asian Le Mans Series and FIA World Endurance Championship on the other, but plans are underway for the regulations to be unified in time for the 2017 season. That could be when Ford is targeting its return, allowing it to compete on both sides of the Atlantic to maximize its exposure.
Toyota, Ford decide to end hybrid collaboration before it starts
Tue, 23 Jul 2013Not all so-called Memorandum of Understanding pacts end in actual collaborations. For instance, after a two-year "feasibility study," Toyota and Ford have just announced that they will not be developing hybrid systems for use in light trucks and SUVs as previously planned, and the two automakers will instead continue to develop their own hybrid technology independently.
The would-be collaboration was first announced in August of 2011, and would have seen a rear-wheel-drive hybrid platform that would "improve the efficiency of trucks and SUVs while still allowing them to be driven in the way customers expect," according to our initial post on the topic.
Keep in mind that this announcement isn't to say we shouldn't expect hybrid pickups and SUVs from the two automakers, but that they probably aren't coming very soon - Ford says it will have a system "before the end of this decade" and we haven't heard much from Toyota on the hybrid truck front since the 2008 A-BAT Concept (pictured above) - and that they will not share any components between them (and they never have, for what it's worth).
Shelby GT350 to be auctioned for charity at Barrett-Jackson in January
Fri, Dec 26 2014If you just have to be the first person in the world to possess the latest Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang, then you need to be bidding during the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, AZ, on January 17. That's because Ford is offering the chance to own the inaugural production example of its latest premiere pony car there. The buyer of the first GT350 gets to choose from any color and all of the available packages for their car. Although, the real highlight is probably being among the first to listen to the 5.2-liter V8 under the hood with its flat-plane crankshaft. Ford promises that the mill makes over 500 horsepower and more than 400 pound-feet of torque. To sweeten the deal even further, all of the proceeds of the sale go to the JDRF, a charity that funds type 1 diabetes research. There's no reserve on the auction for the GT350 but don't expect a bargain. Last year, the first 2015 'Stang raised $300,000 for the JDRF at the Barrett-Jackson sale, and the initial Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 brought in $650,000 for charity. You can read Ford's entire announcement about the event below. FORD MOTOR COMPANY TO SELL NEW SHELBY GT350 MUSTANG AT BARRETT-JACKSON SCOTTSDALE AUCTION TO BENEFIT JDRF First publicly available production unit of the all-new Shelby GT350® Mustang to be auctioned by Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction, with all proceeds benefiting JDRF Winning bidder will be able to choose from available colors and packages for Shelby GT350 Ford-sponsored ride-and-drives during the auction will feature a full lineup of 2015 vehicles Ford Motor Company will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the legendary Shelby GT350 Mustang by auctioning the first production unit of the new-generation car available to the public for charity at Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale, Arizona. All proceeds will benefit JDRF, the country's leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes research. Live coverage of the auction of the Shelby GT350 will air on Velocity on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015. The winning bidder of lot No. 3008 – selling at No Reserve – will become owner of the coveted first retail production unit of Ford Shelby GT350, and choose from available Shelby GT350 colors and packages. In January 1964, Carroll Shelby and Ford Motor Company forever altered the automotive industry with the introduction of the GT350. It was offered through Ford dealers from 1965 through 1970.
