1996 Ford Mustang Gt Convertible, Triple Black on 2040-cars
Encino, California, United States
- I am the 3rd owner and have all records from the 2nd owner who bought it from the 1st original owner-dealer back in 1999 when the car had 15,000 miles on it.
- I bought it in 2006 when it had 79,000 miles and I always changed the oil every 3,000 miles on the dot...never missed an oil change...also changed transmission fluid often, fuel filter often, rear differential fluid and would add fuel injector cleaner with a gas fillup at least once a month or every 3rd or 4th fillup. Non smoking adult, never abused, always clean, cared for and bathed in armor all. Good leather seats, interior, carpet and steering wheel! - Original Paint, nothing to hide, no accidents. Original factory stereo-radio-cassette and CD player, will include cassette to 1/8 inch audio mini jack adaptor so you can plug in your phone, iPod, laptop, tablet etc... Trunk is clean with spare, jack and wheel locks. - I had Intrax lowering springs installed and KYB Gas Shocks which brought it down 1 1/2 to 2 inches, so the ride is much, much better, super tight handling and it looks cool, also front camber kit for proper front end alignment. - Some recent maintainence done within the past year and a half include, A/C charge-new hose, Radiator flush, new upper and lower radiator hoses, radiator cap, thermostat, S-belt, battery, coil, rack and pinion, heavy duty steering shaft, fuel pump, motor mounts, transmission mount, and I just installed new trunk lift hydraulic support things, so the trunk stays up. - New Intake manifold was installed a while ago...all the late 90's mustang intakes corroded and leaked coolant at one point around 80-90k miles...I already had it replaced with the redesigned model, so you don't have to worry about that happening again. - It has been in a garage most of the time for the past 8 years where I worked...all day. The garage was difficult to get in and out of, so I have touched up the corners of the bumpers where I scraped them up a bit. I have been working from home since september 2012, so I rarely drive it anymore, maybe put 2,500 miles on it since then. The odometer had stopped working recently, but I just had it fixed, so there are maybe 1,000 more miles on it that what is displayed. - Tires are great Michelin Pilot Sport XGT 245/45/ZR17 - Known Issues...mostly cosmetic...no surprises - As I mentioned before, I have nothing to hide, so there will be no surprises, I will list everything I know about this car here... -The top does NOT leak but there were some rips in it which I have patched up with a kit I bought online as best I could, please see picts...you can see close up but not noticeable from a distance...at least this way they won't spread. -There are some "soft" dents on the right rear passenger side quarter panels because the previous owner's kids used to kick a soccer ball into it where they played in the front yard, again, please look at the pictures...you can see close up but not noticeable from a distance, didn't bother me, so I never tried to fix, maybe you can pull them out with a suction cup. -When the fuel pump was replaced, the seal on filler tube should have been replaced or maybe they didn't put it back in too well, so if you top it off at the pump a little gas will leak, I never noticed it before because I filled up and got on the freeway right away, so, by the time I got home, I never saw any gas leaking, so if you put in 10 gallons and do not top off, instead of the 13 gallons to fillup and top off, you will be good - Left front drivers side corner lense was cracked, by a co-worker of mine, I repaired with clear silicone adhesive sealer, hardly noticeable now from a distance, but they are cheap and easy to replace. - Does NOT smoke, drip or burn oil, if you can see the picts of my driveway, there are no oil spots on there but I do have to add a quart when it gets close to the 3,000 mile mark...which is when I change the oil anyways - The bright orange shifter indicator sticker thing came off a long time ago, so when you go from Park to reverse to neutral to drive, you have to keep count, you might be able to "fish" it out of the console and stick it back on, I can see it laying on the bottom inside the shifter-console there but it didn't bother me, so I never tried to fix it. - Bottom line - its getting harder and harder to find these with original paint and in decent condition, this is in way better shape than 90% of the ones I see out on the road today. It has lived its entire life here in southern CA and it has been a dependable daily driver for me since 2006, other than the top, it is in excellent overall condition. I recently saw another one just like mine sell in Texas for $5,000.00 so I think its a good deal, although that one had a new top, it didn't have the lowering springs like mine...and my engine compartment is cleaner. - I am an individual so you do not pay sales tax and I cannot offer or arrange for shipping, warranty etc... I am in Encino CA near the 101 and 405 freeways, you can come see the car during the day before the auction ends if you like. It will come with 2 PATS chipped Keys and one keyless entry, remote trunk opening fob. - if you do buy it and are coming from out of state, I am willing to pick you up from Burbank airport (which is closer to me) or LAX airport so you can drive it back home...just please give me a ride back to my home first, before you go on your way. |

Fiat boss Elkann being mentored by... Bill Ford?
Tue, 26 Mar 2013Fiat Chairman John Elkann has been turning to an unusual source for advice on the car business. While speaking during an interview with The Detroit News, Elkann said he often asks Bill Ford Jr. for advice on how to proceed with the turnaround at Chrysler. "It's great to have the opportunity to share this with someone like Bill, who has experienced many things and gone through many things ... especially linked to Detroit." Elkann said.
As the Agnelli family heir, Elkann has inherited a long and fruitful friendship with the Ford family. While Giovanni Agnelli built his first Fiat four years before Henry Ford created his first vehicle, it was Ford that showed Agnelli the benefits of mass production and helped pave the way for what would become the Fiat empire.
Giovanni's grandson, Gianni, helped mentor Bill Ford when he was elected chairman of Ford Motor Company. Now, Ford is returning the favor by helping Elkann navigate the automotive industry's tumultuous waters.
Ford brings FPV Falcon production in house [w/video]
Thu, 21 Feb 2013For the first time since 1976, Ford of Australia is bringing the assembly of its stonking Ford Performance Vehicle line back in-house to the company's Broadmeadows and Geelong facilities. That's a point of pride for FPV, which builds high-performance versions of the Australian Falcon model like the F6, GS and the heroic GT seen here.
In the video below, we hear FPV employees talking in hushed tones about the important legacy that cars like the GT have for Australian gearheads of all stripes, and how proud they are to say that hand-built machines like this GT R-Spec with its Boss 355 engine are now rolling out of their home base. For our part, we're just dying to drive this version of the Coyote V8; the engine is rocking a "Miami" supercharger from Harrop and makes some 450 horsepower.
Continue on below for the video, or you can check out some images of the new FPV at the facility, as well as a gallery of the GT R-Spec car.
Pony-car sales war: Mustang vs. Camaro vs. Challenger [UPDATE]
Fri, Jul 3 2015Update: An earlier version of this story misstated the 2015 Mustang's weight when compared with previous models. Additionally, we have added comments from Chevrolet in the text. The Ford Mustang has blown past the Chevy Camaro as America's best-selling pony car, and in June, it wasn't even close. The 'Stang outsold the Camaro 11,719 to 8,611 cars. The Camaro remained ahead of the Dodge Challenger, which sold 6,845 units. Even though the Camaro did post an 11.5-percent sales improvement in June, the competition is arguably stronger than at anytime since the 1970s muscle-car era. The Mustang's sales leapt a whopping 53.6 percent, while the Challenger saw a gain of 56 percent. Several factors are weighing down Camaro sales, including its lame duck status. Chevy is launching a new generation of the Camaro this year that's more than 200 pounds lighter, offers a new turbo four-cylinder engine option, and has a nicer interior than the outgoing model. Put simply: wait a few months and you can get a better car. It's also unlikely Chevy will jack up the price much, as it's historically kept the Camaro within reach of everyday enthusiasts. While Chevy fans wait in anticipation for their new sports car, Ford and Dodge have downshifted. The new Mustang, which went on sale last year, is faster and more sophisticated than its predecessor. It also offers a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder, which Ford has credited for the Mustang's recent uptick and makes up 36 percent of the car's sales, Ford analyst Erich Merkle said. View 17 Photos June's performance allowed the Mustang to widen its sales gap with the Camaro this year. Through the first five months, Ford sold 68,290 Mustangs, a 54.4-percent increased compared with 2014. Chevy sold 42,593 Camaros, an 8.7-percent decrease. The Challenger – long the No. 3 pony car in sales volume – has seen its sales surge 41 percent this year to 37,011 units. Spokesman Monte Doran said Chevy expected that 2015 would be a "relatively soft year" for the Camaro. "Mustang is taking advantage of years' worth of pent-up demand for an independent rear suspension," he said. "When Camaro introduced an IRS, in 2009, it helped make us the best-selling performance car in America.
