Up for auction is my freshly built 65 mustang GT 350 5 speed Shelby ‘Tribute” Car, with roughly 5 test miles on it. This is “NOT” a numbers matching car and  they never made at GT 350 coupe in 65 . Thats why I'm calling it a "Tribute" Car to Carl Shelby. It was a six cylinder auto car at one time according to the VIN. This car was meticulously put together and the fit and finish is really nice in my opium. It run’s, rides and drives like a new car and the paint is just beautiful. Body is laser straight as you can see in the pictures .Here’s what done to the car . Car was totally stripped to the bare metal, all glass, interior, doors, and trunk, front end, drive train all remover and disassembled for rebuilding or replacement. Body work was all professionally done and perfectly straight with a high gloss emerald green paint job with gold metallic flake in it. It’s hard to take a picture of it and must be seen to believe. OK so here is all the new stuff in it. All new front fenders, Shelby style hood, Shelby style grill, lower valance and air dam. All new doors and all their components (hing’s, Latches, strikers). Cars body is super solid with NO patch panels anywhere as pictured. Here is a list of all the new parts on the car.  All chrome in and out, all new interior and weather stripping. All front end parts new and powder coated, all rebuilt power steering system with new hoses. Brand new tires and rims, every brake part is brand new and has drums all around. All new exhaust, headers and GT tips, (sounds real nice) Recondition rear end power coated black with brand new leaf springs and shackles, (NON POSI) new gas tank and sender. Rebuilt tremec five speed conversion tranny with all new clutch and flywheel. New starter. New battery and alternator. Complete new wiring harness front to back. New rear Synchronized L.E.D tail lights, new front and rear glass. Completely new vent window assemblies and chrome. New front windshield and rear glass with all new chrome mouldings. Door and quarter windows are original. Motor is a rebuilt  79 302  block  bored 30 over with all pistons and rings. Has a small cam with new lifters and timing chain, new Holley street avenger carb and Edelbrock manifold and a rebuilt distributor. All new tunes up parts, hoses, water pump, fuel pump, fuel lines front to back. New radiator and fan, air cleaner, valve covers. Everything works like it should. All new heating system under dash along with all new dash parts as pictured with all new gages. There is a 12” subwoofer behind the back seat with a serious AM/FM sound system with remote CD capability if needed. If you're in the market looking for a just about brand new mustang then this is the one for you. A lot of time and a LOT of money went into the Mustang so it’s not going to be cheap but it’s going for a lot less than you can build it. Ask Questions and I'll get right back to you A.S.A.P. If you like to come and inspect the car you may, I have a lift to put it on and you can test drive it too. You can call me also at 203 687 0834 here in Wallingford, CT. (Note cars speedo cable is missing ,needs  conversion box and there is small 1/2" or less scratch below rear window) can send more pics upon request.

Thanks for looking, Loren

2020 Ford Explorer, Lincoln Aviator reportedly facing numerous QC issues

Mon, Sep 16 2019

A lengthy report in the Detroit Free Press delves into a range of quality control issues confronting the 2020 Ford Explorer and its luxury platform sibling, the 2020 Lincoln Aviator. Freep says it's been following the issue for two months, tapping various unnamed sources for information on the automaker's unorthodox route to resolution. Seems the problem is Explorers and Aviators leaving the production line at the Chicago Assembly Plant with flaws in areas like the chassis, transmission and suspension, said vehicles trucked to Ford's Flat Rock Assembly Plant (FRAP) outside of Detroit for repair. The estimates range from 10,000 to 18,000 vehicles affected, numbers so high that Ford has sought help from Roush Engineering in nearby Allen Park, and brought workers and managers from other plants in the Midwest to FRAP to get vehicles repaired and shipped to dealers. Ford hasn't shared the nature of the problems with anyone outside the company, including dealers and customers. Freep's sources are said to include workers who have provided photos of certain vehicles and of tents used to house parts at the FRAP repair site. The Explorer chassis allegedly has an unidentified problem that engineers are using X-rays to diagnose, and the transmission is having problems sensing when it's in park or going into park. Both the Explorer and Aviator have come off the line with HVAC units that only blow hot air. And the Aviator's height-adjustable suspension enters failure mode for unknown reasons. These come on top of quotidian mishaps common to every new vehicle, but that are meant to be sorted in pre-production, like missing emblems and trim pieces. They also come on top of a recall in early August issued for the Explorer and Aviator concerning the instrument cluster and parking brake, and another at the end of August over rear seatbacks that could collapse in a crash. An automaker spokesperson told Freep, "Making updates to preproduction models based on all-new platforms as they roll off the assembly line – is standard industry practice." Except these aren't pre-production, these are early production vehicles that paying customers and dealers are waiting for, and some of the affected vehicles have been pulled off dealer lots. Dealers say they are fine waiting for the trucks to get sorted out, and they'd rather have Ford fix the problems before the SUVs go to customers.

2015 Ford Focus sedan shows its fresh face in New York

Wed, 16 Apr 2014

That handsome fellow you see above is the 2015 Ford Focus sedan. We liked the looks of the 2014 Focus, and the updates for 2015 only improve things to our eyes, with the adoption of the Aston Martin-inspired grille that has been permeating Ford's lineup these last few years. Sweeping, slightly bulbous headlamps join a revised, more demure lower grille opening to round out the styling updates up front. The rest of the car's look is just slightly massaged, including new taillamp clusters that look much like they did last year.
New for 2015 is the availability of Ford's 1.0-liter three-cylinder EcoBoost engine, mated exclusively to a six-speed manual transmission. There's also a new SE Sport Package that adds more aggressive suspension tuning, paddle shifters (when equipped with Ford's six-speed dual-clutch automatic) and a few body kit bits and pieces. Rounding out the mechanical changes are an updated electronic steering rack that promises better feel, suspension tweaks to make the ride more comfortable and some software updates designed to make the dual-clutch gearbox better behave itself.
In addition, inside there are a few interior upgrades, as well as some added comfort and safety tech that includes available blind-spot detection and lane-keeping assist, along with other more incremental changes that all add up to a better vehicle. We suggest you check out the official press release below for all the details, but not before scrolling through our image gallery of live shots above.

Enterprise customer billed $47k for Mustang stolen from rental lot

Sun, 05 Jan 2014

A weekend rental of a Ford Mustang GT Convertible sounds like a nice, relaxing way to burn some gas, but one Nova Scotia woman's two-day rental is turning into a months-long headache. In early October, Kristen Cockerill picked up the Mustang from Enterprise Rent-A-Car, and she returned it the following day as stipulated by the rental contract. Unfortunately, she dropped the car off on a Sunday - a day on which the particular Enterprise office is closed - and the car ended up being stolen overnight.
Now, two months later, CBC reports that Cockerill received a bill from Enterprise for the full replacement of the car totaling $47,271 (a base 2014 Mustang GT Convertible currently costs $40,349 in Canada). As it turns out, the fine print in the contract says that the renter is responsible for cars dropped off after hours until it can be inspected the next business day - this is also reflected on the key drop seen in the news report video, which states "vehicles returned after hours are the responsibility of the renter until inspected on the next business day."
It's not clear how much, if any, of that amount Cockerhill will be responsible for once her insurance company gets involved, but if the insurance company refuses to pay, Enterprise will bill the amount to the credit card she provided during her rental. While this ordeal is far over for Cockerhill, it's a good reminder for the rest of us to always read the fine print.
