The vehicle being auctioned I have owned for about 28 years. During that time frame it has been the subject of an ongoing amateur restoration. Some of the reasons I bought it are it looked to be very original and complete, no rust or accident damage. Also in running condition. I repainted it about 24 years ago. The color is a good match to the original color. The dashboard was not repainted and so you can judge for yourself regarding the color match. I want to be clear about the term amateur restoration. The paint has several flaws, as well as chips and scratches. In my opinion, it still looks good from 10 - 15 feet. I never intended to make a show car out of this little Fiat; just a driver which is what I consider it. All four tires are in very good condition with low mileage. The wooden shift knob is apparently original but I have yet to see another Vignale with a similiar one. The hucaps are spun aluminum which I also have not seen on other models. The convertible top is in good condition and has the original side curtains. The two front bumpers have been re-chromed and also the speedometer bezel. The rear bumper has not been re-chromed and has some pitting. The speedometer is calibrated in kilometers. Odometer shows approximately 50,300 km. The engine and transaxle are in good running condition It has an "Abarth-style" exhaust which I installed myself. The seats are original; drivers seat has two small holes in the backrest. I added carpeting and insulating material some years ago. The original rubber matting is available; usable only for a pattern if desired. The windshield wipers are non-functional at this time. The linkage will need some adjustment, the motor is still good. There is no horn. Headlights and stoplights are working and the turn indicators. Battery charging light, oil pressure light and fuel indicator are working. Included with the vehicle are: original jack, 4-way lug wrench, incomplete tool kit and spare tire (not original). This vehicle is being sold sold as is. There is no warranty either stated or implied. This is a no reserve auction.       TERMS OF SALE: Buyer is responsible for all shipping costs and consignments. Buyer to pay a $500.00 deposit within 3 days of auction closing. Balance to be paid in full within 7 days of auction ending. Payment to be made by certified bank draft, wire transfer or cash (in person). All funds must clear before vehicle and title can be released.  I will cooperate with shipping arrangements as much as possible

Marchionne may stay with FCA until 2020

Mon, Aug 31 2015

We might get to see Sergio Marchionne and his vast array of sweaters in the auto industry for even longer than expected. The FCA CEO suggested last year that he would retire from the automaker when its current five-year plan was complete in 2018. Now, he has tentatively extended that point out to at least 2020. "I can do this for another five years if you push me, right? Beyond that, I ain't gonna do it, and I don't want to," he said to Automotive News. That would give Marchionne a 16-year career at the top from joining Fiat in 2004 to possibly leaving FCA in 2020. Although, take the CEO's statement with a grain of salt because he has made multiple statements about the timing for his retirement. In 2012, Marchionne said he would only remain in charge until 2015, which is, well, now. Those five years might also go quite quickly because Marchionne is a busy guy with the Ferrari IPO, the attempted merger with General Motors, implementing FCA's five-year plan, and many other projects. He's already considering the next CEO, though. "My purpose in life is to find the Kuniskises of the world, the Manleys, the Biglands, the Palmers," Marchionne said to Automotive News, referencing the heads at Dodge, Jeep, FCA North America, and the company's chief financial officer, respectively. "I told them, 'One of you is going to do what I do one day. I don't know who that is, but one of you is going to do it.'" All Fiat 500 production moving to Poland by 2015?

Mon, 11 Feb 2013

With the next-generation Fiat 500 expected to debut in 2015 with more of a global presence, there is a growing possibility that production of the cute little hatchback will be consolidated to a single plant in Poland. According to Automotive News Europe, Fiat plans to end production of the 500 in Toluca, Mexico, which is expected to better fill Fiat's European production capacity, free up more North American capacity and create a single Fiat 500 design for all markets.
Currently, Fiat builds two similar but structurally different 500 models for Europe and North America, and assembling just one version at the Tychy, Poland would allow it to cut costs for development of the new car. This would also help fill some of the capacity void that Tychy has suffered in recent years, building just 300,000 units last year compared to more than double that in 2009. The report says that while Chrysler's North American production capacity is near its limit, Fiat's European plants will be used to meet increased demand before a new plant is built in North America. As for Toluca, there is no indication as to what vehicle Chrysler would replace the 500 with at this facility, which also builds the Dodge Journey.

Fiat 500 Fiore Rosa is Italian-Japanese cute-overload fusion

Wed, 06 Feb 2013

If you live in Japan and you want to get something for your special someone for Valentine's Day, then slow dance down to your Fiat dealer and check out the Fiat 500 Fiore Rosa. A holiday special, the pale metallic pink Cinquecento is limited to 150 examples and only on sale from February 14-17. But beware the connotations, because as far as we can glean from Google Translate, the 500 Fiore Rosa is a bargain model, getting halogen lights instead of bi-xenons, manual air-con instead of climate control, 14-inch steel wheels instead of 15-inch alloys, and going without chrome trim, glass roof, parking sensors and alarm.
It's fitted with the TwinAir engine and gets the same price as the regular 500 TwinAir, however - 2,200,000 yen ($23,559 US). Other than the special name, we can't figure out where the 500 Fiore Rosa is hiding its treats, especially because it gets the el-cheapo wheel covers of the 500 Pop fitted with the 1.2-liter engine instead of the 500 TwinAir wheels. But if you want to make a statement, it's there. And we're talking to the women of Japan, because apparently they're the ones who buy the gifts on Valentine's day in Nippon.
