1986 FERRARI TESTAROSSA # ZFFSA17AX0056657. When the Testarossa was introduced at The Paris Auto Show in 1984, it created an enormous splash with the motoring press and an enthusiastic public. A true 180 mph supercar, the Testarossa looks every bit the part and played that part well on the TV series, Miami Vice. Posters of the car were plastered on dormitory rooms everywhere (often next to Farah Fawcett posters) and it seemed that every red-blooded American male desired to own one. The rear/mid-mounted, 48-valve, 4-cam, Bosch K- Jetronic fuel injected flat 12-cylinder engine continued the heritage of the engine of the 512BBi which preceded the Testarossa and was the most powerful engine in any production car until that time. The long side strakes of the Pininfarina design of the Testarossa became a trademark and the car has always been instantly recognizable on the road. Our car, finished in classic Ferrari red with original black leather, was purchased by its second owner in 1994, then with fewer than 3,000 miles. That owner of 16 years serviced the car at a specialist’s shop in New Jersey and eventually sold the car to that shop in 2010. That shop then sold the car to one of their good customers who, in August 2012, had the same shop perform the major, engine-out timing belt service with related work. Now, with fewer than 500 miles on the car since that service, the car is ready to move to a new home. All original manuals, tools, custom cover and the car’s rare 6-piece luggage set--originally offered by Ferrari as an option on the Testarossa—are present with the car. Immaculate condition. 28,699 miles.

Ferrari launches F14 T and yet another Formula One nose

Mon, 27 Jan 2014

Ferrari CEO Luca di Montezemolo said of the 2014 Formula One season, "It's time to win." This is the chassis that's meant to do it, and it is also Exhibit C in this wild, function-over-form F1 pre-season: the Ferrari F14 T. The low, trunk-like snout is another imagining of the year's regulations, after the probing proboscides found on the McLaren and in the image of the coming Williams. The public name of the chassis internally called 665 was chosen by Ferrari's social media fans, F14 T referring to the brand, the year and the turbocharged powerplant, not the McDonnell-Douglas F14 Tomcat.
The 60th Ferrari to contest an F1 season, it keeps the pull-rod front and rear suspensions of cars from the last two years but little else. The narrower front wing, having to package and cool the additional power unit equipment, reworking the rear wing and even moving to brake-by-wire has changed every other aspect of the car.
Fernando Alonso is hoping the F14 T will make the fifth time the charm; in his fifth year with the team, he wants to win the championship this year instead of coming in second again, just like Michael Schumacher won his first title with Ferrari after five years with the team. Our guess is that Kimi Räikkönen has no opinion on anything other than winning races and getting paid for it. A press release below offers a number of details, while the high-res gallery above to can help prepare you for what's coming.

BMW hires Ferrari chief engineer Fedeli

Wed, 08 Oct 2014

There's going to be a little bit more Prancing Horse in some future BMWs because the Bavarian brand is hiring Ferrari chief engineer Roberto Fedeli to join the company in November. Fedeli's new position is still somewhat of a mystery though, and he reportedly might be lending his talents to the high performance M division or possibly even Rolls-Royce. When asked by Automotive News Europe, BMW said that it "currently can't say what his role will be."
Regardless of his new job, Fedeli was a big get for BMW because of his strong résumé. He has been with Ferrari since 1988 and led the engineering for the famous Italian automaker's vehicles since 2007. Fedeli tendered his resignation in September at around the same time that chairman Luca di Montezemolo announced his decision to leave the company. However, Ferrari told ANE that there was no connection between the two events.

Berger and Vettel swap F1 cars old and new at the Red Bull Ring

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

This weekend the Formula One circus heads to Spielberg. No, not the Hollywood director, but the town in Austria that's home to the Österreichring. Subsequently known as the A1-Ring, these days it's called the Red Bull Ring, which makes this weekend's revived Austrian Grand Prix something of a home race for the defending champion Red Bull Racing team. But long before that it was the home race of the sixteen F1 drivers that call Austria their home - not the least of them Gerhard Berger.
The only Austrian driver to have won a grand prix (ten of them, all told) but not a championship, Berger was a fixture of F1 racing in the 1980s and 90s, spending much of his career driving for Ferrari. He later ran Scuderia Toro Rosso for three seasons, during which time Sebastian Vettel won his first (and still the team's only) grand prix. So with the Austrian Grand Prix back on the calendar for this weekend, the two highly accomplished drivers headed to the Red Bull Ring for a little juxtaposition.
Gerhard rolled in with the Ferrari F1/87-88C in which he won the 1988 Italian Grand Prix at Monza (which was, incidentally, the same race that Vettel won for STR twenty years later under Ferrari power), and Seb in his championship-winning RB8. Then they switched off, giving the four-time world champion his first chance to drive a grand prix racer with three pedals. If you can't believe that, it's also (as far as we can tell) the first time, despite years of neck-and-neck competition and retention of some of the best drivers on the grid, that a Red Bull or Toro Rosso driver has driven a Ferrari F1 car, and vice versa. See how it went down in the video below.
