Ferrari Testarossa Convertible 1986 on 2040-cars
United States
You are currently viewing a quite rare 1986 Ferrari Testarossa. This Testarossa is 1 of 12 Ferrari Testarossa's converted by Richard Straman. A quick google search will show that Straman made his claim to fame by converting Ferrari coupes including the 365 Daytona into Ferrari Cabriolets. His work was considered the best of its time. His most iconic conversion was the Testarossa. A quick description of his conversion work includes upper and lower additions in square frame tubing and steel gusseting throughout, that worked seamlessly with the entire package which is a Cabriolet Spyder. His retracting convertible mechanisms are as well designed as the factory would make. This particular year of TR production is marked by a single sided "Flying Mirror" and only a small handful of conversions were this style. This Ferrari was bought in 1988 and commissioned in 1990 by Ken Behring, founder of the Blackhawk Museum and this car was displayed in the Museum as well. It lived its entire life in southern California. There is no rust and little degradation of materials within and without the car. This car has had all services including the major engine out and updated transmission replacement accomplished within the past 18 months. The paint and interior are in outstanding condition and the documented mileage is 9500. Car fax and Ferrari Market letter both back up these claims. This car is the real deal, it is the car that Enzo actually made only one real one of. That one was made for the president of Fiat back in the 1980's. In Rosso Corsa red with a black leather interior , the appeal is unsurpassable. This car is fully sorted and drives as it should, a supercar of the 80's. Christopher Ward chrono has actual metal from a Ferrari 250 GTO
Thu, 07 Aug 2014We've seen watchmakers use all sorts of methods to make their timepieces more attractive to automotive enthusiasts, from carbon-fiber dials and titanium cases to the logos of partnering automakers and racing series. Some have even designed all-new watches to go with a specific make or model. But Christopher Ward has taken things a step further with its latest chronograph.
The new Christopher Ward C70 3527 GT chronometer eschews all the usual gimmicks and goes for a more interesting one: it actually includes in its construction metal taken from the restoration of a Ferrari 250 GTO - namely chassis number 3527 GT that belongs to one Irvine Laidlaw, a Scottish nobleman and one of the wealthiest individuals in the UK.
When Baron Laidlaw bought his GTO in 2005, he sent it in for a thorough restoration that involved replacing some corroded and damaged exterior body panels. The discarded metal was acquired by TMB Artmetal, which specializes in that sort of thing, and partnered with Christopher Ward to create this limited-edition timepiece. The metal was used to make the back plate on which the number 6 - in homage to 3527's iconic 6 GTO license plate - is etched by laser and placed under museum-grade sapphire crystal.
Race Recap: 2013 Bahrain Grand Prix follows the template of this year and last [spoilers]
Mon, 22 Apr 2013The sand, the wind, the penalties, the contact and the one crash - all of them collided to make the Bahrain Formula One Grand Prix a surprise affair from day to day and lap to lap. Oh, and did we mention the tires? Pirelli made a last-minute swap after the amusement park ride that the Chinese Grand Prix turned into with the soft compound tire, and brought medium and hard compounds to the desert. That didn't stop things from falling apart for some teams - literally - and that didn't stop the one team that seems to love the hard compound Pirelli tire.
Wingsuits are somehow involved in new season of 'Top Gear'
Mon, Jan 14 2019It's a shame that Matt LeBlanc is leaving "Top Gear," but there's a bit of solace in the situation: There's still one more season of him as frontman. BBC just released the new trailer for series 26, and it shows LeBlanc, Chris Harris and Rory Reid getting into all sorts of shenanigans around the globe. "Top Gear" announced LeBlanc's imminent departure back in May 2018, but he still had to finish one more season before leaving. Thus, the upcoming series will be his last, and it looks like he'll go out in a whirlwind of dust, bent metal, water spray and burnt rubber. The trailer shows everything expected from a season of the storied automotive show (well, everything except Hammond, May, and Clarkson, if you're one of those people). There will be precision driving, dubious stunts, name-calling and gobs of stunning videography. In the short one-minute clip, there are flashes of numerous attention-piquing vehicles. The new Bentley Continental GT, a Bentley Le Mans racer, Porsches, Ferraris, the Aston Martin Vantage, and the Mercedes-AMG GT all make appearances. And for some random fun, the boys are seen in wingsuits (doubtful it's actually them), and playing polo in some three-wheel rickshaws (before wrecking said rickshaws). We'll update with more information as soon as we know when the show will start.
