I am selling my 512TR. Divorce forces the sale. The car is serviced. In December 2011, I had a complete 7year 36000 mile service performed. This was necessitated by a missed shift that required transmission disassembly and rebuild. I did many other items while the engine and transmission were out. I replaced the pinion gear with a much more robust pinion used in high performance/ racing applications. the exhaust was processed with "Jet Flow" which is porcelinizing the inner and aluminizing the outer aspects of the exhaust headers. this increases the efficiency of the extraction of heat. I will include photocopies of the work order and title. I have many more photos than can be shown on this ad. The car is set up well with adjustable spring seats and great shocks. The exhaust is by TUBI. TUBI Exhaust make all the difference in the world as far as power output and musical exhaust note..."think rocket launch or thunder". Pirelli Supercar Tires. The rears are from 2011 with maybe 1500 miles on them. The interior is red and black as can be seen in the pics. Everyone loves it. If you have never driven a 512TR but have driven a Testarossa....your in for a treat. The 512TR has so many little but meaningful improvements over the Testarossa. The car is much more drivable. The engine is internally improved. The 512TR engine is lowered to reduce lateral rolling mass. As can be seen in the pictures of the engine compartment, there are quite a bit of cosmetic accents in the way of bright polish and chrome. This will either blow you away, and you will just do whatever you have to do to get this car, or you won't like it... no in between . Everyone, including the local Ferrari club Pres., likes it a lot!

I would like to take a moment to discuss the title. This car has a clear California Title...now. In this car's past it was insured or should I say under-insured. The car had a side scraping shunt that did not involve the suspension or frame in any way. The left side panels were replaced. The car was repainted by a famous collectors personal painter to slightly BETTER THAN FACTORY NEW. The upshot of all this is that the car was salvaged to the insurance company because that's what happens if you under-insure your car. The insurance company just pays you off and takes the car whether you like it or not. Then the car was repaired as any Ferrari would be. I mention this in detail because when they say "Watch out, the car is a salvage" they are doing great harm to many and certainly this car. A salvage is important when a car is under water or in a fire or a clip job. NONE OF THESE APPLY HERE.

So if you want the best low mileage drivable (fast and safe) 512TR...look no further.

Montezemolo steps down, Marchionne steps up as chairman of Ferrari

Wed, 10 Sep 2014

If the history of an automaker is divided up by the mandate of its leadership, then this is surely the end of an era for Ferrari. After repeatedly locking horns with Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne over a variety of issues, longtime Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo has announced his resignation.
Montezemolo has a long history with both Fiat and Ferrari. He started his career at the former before moving over to the latter in 1973 (only a few years Fiat took over half of Ferrari), starting out as Enzo Ferrari's assistant. He was appointed head of the Scuderia the following year, driving the team to success and subsequently taking over all of the Fiat group's racing activities. After the Prancing Horse marque struggled in the wake of its founder's death in 1988, Montezemolo was appointed to take it over in '91 and has been at the helm ever since.
Following Fiat chairman Gianni Agnelli's passing in 2003, both Montezemolo and Marchionne were named to the Fiat board. A year later, after the passing of Gianni's younger brother Umberto, Montezemolo was named chairman of the Fiat Group (to be succeeded six years later by Agnelli heir John Elkann) and Marchionne its chief executive.

Ferrari 365 GTB/4 brings joy to both father and son

Thu, Apr 2 2015

In addition to wonderful cinematography and a keen eye for style, Petrolicious has a knack for showing that cars can bring families together. Whether Nissan fans, classic rally racers or a trio of BMW 5 Series drivers, the series often proves that automobiles can have meaning beyond just as a heap of mechanical parts. The latest video keeps that theme going with a 1973 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona that connects a father and son. Matthew Lange's dad bought his Daytona in 1974 as a company car and certainly didn't let it waste away in the garage. His father put over 30,000 miles on the Pininfarina-designed coupe in just the first few years. Then, when Matthew turned 30, his dad gave him the Ferrari to enjoy. Today, it still gets used regularly and is likely going to the next generation of the family eventually. Even if the father/son story doesn't grab you, there are few things in the automotive pantheon that sound better than a V12 Ferrari. Lange even takes a run through the gears to let Petrolicoius record the wonderful engine sing. Marchionne wants Maserati to be FCA's new Ferrari

Fri, Jul 10 2015

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is gearing up to spin Ferrari, its most profitable brand, off into another company, and float its stock on the open market. That means it's going to need another profit-driver to generate income for the rest of the group. And according to its chief executive Sergio Marchionne, that mantle will soon be picked up by Maserati. FCA is betting big on Maserati, which has long stood as a niche marque with a limited array of models and low sales numbers. In addition to the recently introduced Ghibli and Quattroporte sedans – now crucially offered with diesels and all-wheel drive – Maserati is preparing to roll out the Levante crossover that promises to do for the Modenese marque what the Cayenne did for Porsche. Due in part to the success of its first crossover, Porsche turned itself from a niche sports car manufacturer into an immensely profitable automaker that was (nearly) capable of buying out the entire Volkswagen Group. Maserati's resurgence is part of a two-pronged assault FCA is plotting against its German rivals. Maserati will be charged with taking on the higher end of the Mercedes, BMW, and Audi ranges (from the E-Class, 5 Series and A6 upwards). Meanwhile, Alfa Romeo will go after the lower end of the luxury spectrum with the new Giulia (aimed at the C-Class, 3 Series and A4) and other models to follow. FCA aims to turn Maserati and Alfa Romeo (along with Jeep) into global brands, broadening the narrow geographical appeal they have held until now. In order to generate enough profit to support the rest of the group as Ferrari has, Maserati will need to find a way to increase its profit margins. Bloomberg reports that Ferraris command a 13-percent profit margin, and while the ten percent that Maseratis list for is still triple that of the FCA average, slow sales are forcing some dealers to offer deep incentives that cut significantly into that margin.
