This is one of three cars from my collection which I am auctioning on Ebay. The other two are a 1994 Mercedes Benz SL600 Convertible and a custom built 1955 Jaguar Convertible (originally a four door Mark VII salon) which I will list within a few days. I must sell two in order to get garage space for new cars I have coming. If interested, please see the separate listings. This Ferrari is an absolute joy to drive. Always garaged, solid, runs perfectly, has that great sound, does not have a mark on it. Paint, chrome, stainless, glass, all in excellent condition. Non-smoker. With so few miles, it easily passes for a much newer car. Note the original tire sticker on the windshield and the sticker inside the spare wheel. Also note the fuse box is perfectly clear - not cloudy. Everything works fine, including the pop-up headlights. No leaks of any kind. The radio is a new Pioneer as are the speakers, but I still have the original Blaupunkt if you want to show the car. (The Blaupunkt could be repaired but very expensive.) The tires are correct, show very little wear with no cracking, and could be original, but I am not sure. I doubt the spare has ever been on the ground. The wheels do not have a mark on them. The car comes with owners manuals, original pouches, two sets of original keys, tool kit with spare parts, extra belts, and both the full cover and the targa cover. (See pictures) I am told this is the only mid-engine Ferrari ever built with seating for four. It is actually pretty comfortable in any seat. You can drive this car anywhere and not have any problems at all. The only consideration might be the manual top. I believe it is original and I don't think it has been up much in the car's history. The result is that it is very stiff and difficult to raise. I removed the rear metal stiffeners and that helped a little, but a new top and boot would give the car new zing. The air conditioner does not blow very cold and probably needs a recharge. I will try to have that done before the car sells. And finally, the side of the driver's side seat shows a bit of wear which I am treating with leather conditioners that seem to be doing the trick. Other than that, the car is turn key. As background, the car was sold new in Germany in 1985 and shipped to the USA shortly thereafter. That is why the odometer is in kilometers. I am the third owner. The car has been serviced by a certified Ferrari mechanic who has given me a letter vouching for its condition. And one more very good thing. If you know about Ferraris, you know that the frequent timing belt changes are the single most expensive maintenance that comes with owning one. THIS Ferrari is the only one that was built which does not require lifting the engine to change the belt. Thus maintenance is much less expensive to do. Finally, I suggest you have a mechanic verify the condition of the car for your peace of mind before your final bid. The VIN # is ZFFLC15B000053929. Thank you. |

Ferrari stock sale pegged for October, or later
Sat, Jun 6 2015The Ferrari IPO is still coming, but it won't be before Columbus Day (Monday, October 12, that is), according to Fiat Chrysler Automobiles CEO Sergio Marchionne. The outspoken exec is blaming tax reasons for the fourth-quarter date, according to a report from Reuters. Marchionne said a full year needed to pass between FCA's October 13, 2014 Wall Street debut and any additional listing. This isn't the first delay in the Ferrari IPO. FCA was originally supposed to make a 10-percent offering of Ferrari during second or third quarter of 2015, before officially pushing things back to the third quarter of this year. Now, it's unclear if Ferrari will even go public before the dawn of 2016. Race recap: 2016 Australian F1 Grand Prix a rowdy start to season
Mon, Mar 21 2016The three brief Formula 1 tests ahead of the current season belied how much had gone on since the last race in November: Infiniti subbed out for Tag Heuer, Renault is back, the all new Haas F1 team, a revamped Manor, three brand new drivers and two returning drivers, a raft of regulation changes among the newly tilled soil. The four engine manufacturers spent a combined 67 tokens among the 138 in the kitty, Renault using just seven of their 32. The only conclusive proof to come from the annual intermission was the otherworldly capability of Mercedes-AMG Petronas. The Silver Arrows didn't even try the super- and ultra-soft tires, focusing on reliability instead of speed. The result? They ran more than 19 race distances, obliterating the lap totals of every other team. There are certainly a few people who enjoyed the complicated new rolling-elimination qualifying format fast-tracked to approval just a few weeks ago. They were wildly outnumbered by those who thought it was awful, including the same team heads who voted for it. We'd probably have to go back to the debacle at the 2005 Indianapolis Grand Prix for an equivalent fiasco when Michelin pulled its teams over safety fears, leaving six cars out of 20 to qualify. In Australia, within 24 hours of the conclusion of qualifying, the new format had itself been eliminated. Nevertheless, qualifying also taught us what didn't happen over the winter: any other team progressing enough to outduel Mercedes. After admitting that he dropped off after winning the championship last year, then getting questioned in the press for some dubious off-season activities, Lewis Hamilton proved he can still turn it on when he wants to. The Brit smoked the Albert Park track in 1:23.837, more than three-tenths of a second ahead of teammate Nico Rosberg in second place. Ferrari did make strides during the off-season, but only enough to keep the same gap it had to Mercedes last year: Sebastian Vettel lined up third, a half-second behind Rosberg, teammate Kimi Raikkonen another four-tenths back in fourth place. Max Verstappen said Toro Rosso is the best of the rest, the Dutchman taking fifth place in front of Felipe Massa for Williams in sixth and Toro Rosso teammate Carlos Sainz in sixth. Daniel Ricciardo – who wasn't smiling after qualifying – kept Red Bull and its new "Tag Heuer" engines in the conversation with eighth on the grid.
These are the top 10 highest-grossing auctions of Scottsdale 2015
Tue, Jan 20 2015Scottsdale always brings some pretty high-value metal across the auction block, but this year saw a particularly pricey array of classics trade hands. In fact, Hagerty reports that, with over $292 million in total sales from the various auction houses present, this past holiday weekend saw an 18 percent increase over last year – the second-highest year-to-year increase in Arizona automobile auction history. The Pratte Collection auction handled by Barrett-Jackson sold to the tune of $35.5 million, accounting for a large portion of overall sales, but even without that staggering array of classics, there was still an enviable array of machinery on the block this year. The highest-value lot not only of this year's event but of any year prior was the 1964 Ferrari 250 LM that RM Auctions sold for $9.6 million. And as you might have guessed, Ferraris accounted for the lion's share of the top ten results this year – including the first, second, third, fifth, seventh, eighth and both the lots that tied for tenth place on the list. In fact, three out of the top ten were Ferrari 275s. Coming in second place was the 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB Competizione that Bonhams sold for $9.4 million, which – like the 250 LM – was also raced by Scuderia Filipinetti. It was followed by a '59 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spyder sold by Gooding & Company for $7.7 million. Barrett-Jackson sold a '66 Shelby Cobra 427 Super Snake for over $5M, Gooding handled a '62 Ferrari 400 Superamerica ($4M), and Barrett-Jackson's 1950 GM Futurliner brought in another $4M for charity. The remaining top ten was filled out by a '67 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 ($3.6M – RM), a '73 Ferrari 365 GTS/4 Daytona Spyder ($3.3M – RM), and a '54 Pontiac Bonneville Special Motorama concept ($3.3M – BJ), with a '66 Ferrari 275 GTB/2 Longnose and an '84 Ferrari 288 GTO tying for tenth place at $2.75M apiece by RM.
