This is one of three cars from my collection which I am auctioning on Ebay.  The other two are a 1994 Mercedes Benz SL600 Convertible and a custom built 1955 Jaguar Convertible (originally a four door Mark VII salon) which I will list within a few days.  I must sell two in order to get garage space for new cars I have coming.  If interested, please see the separate listings.

This Ferrari is an absolute joy to drive.  Always garaged, solid, runs perfectly, has that great sound, does not have a mark on it.  Paint, chrome, stainless, glass, all in excellent condition.  Non-smoker.  With so few miles, it easily passes for a much newer car.  Note the original tire sticker on the windshield and the sticker inside the spare wheel.  Also note the fuse box is perfectly clear - not cloudy.  Everything works fine, including the pop-up headlights.  No leaks of any kind.  The radio is a new Pioneer as are the speakers, but I still have the original Blaupunkt if you want to show the car.  (The Blaupunkt could be repaired but very expensive.)  The tires are correct, show very little wear with no cracking, and could be original, but I am not sure.  I doubt the spare has ever been on the ground.  The wheels do not have a mark on them.

The car comes with owners manuals, original pouches, two sets of original keys, tool kit with spare parts, extra belts, and both the full cover and the targa cover.  (See pictures)

I am told this is the only mid-engine Ferrari ever built with seating for four.  It is actually pretty comfortable in any seat.  You can drive this car anywhere and not have any problems at all.  The only consideration might be the manual top.  I believe it is original and I don't think it has been up much in the car's history.  The result is that it is very stiff and difficult to raise.  I removed the rear metal stiffeners and that helped a little, but a new top and boot would give the car new zing.  The air conditioner does not blow very cold and probably needs a recharge.  I will try to have that done before the car sells.  And finally, the side of the driver's side seat shows a bit of wear which I am treating with leather conditioners that seem to be doing the trick.  Other than that, the car is turn key.

As background, the car was sold new in Germany in 1985 and shipped to the USA shortly thereafter.  That is why the odometer is in kilometers.  I am the third owner.

The car has been serviced by a certified Ferrari mechanic who has given me a letter vouching for its condition.  And one more very good thing.  If you know about Ferraris, you know that the frequent timing belt changes are the single most expensive maintenance that comes with owning one.  THIS Ferrari is the only one that was built which does not require lifting the engine to change the belt. Thus maintenance is much less expensive to do.

Finally, I suggest you have a mechanic verify the condition of the car for your peace of mind before your final bid.

The VIN # is ZFFLC15B000053929.

Thank you.

Ferrari shows California with unique upholstery at Goodwood

Fri, Jun 26 2015

Order up a new Ferrari and you can get it just about any way you want it. That's what the company's Tailor Made program is all about. And it's showcasing some of the possibilities at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend with the unique cabrio you see here. This one-of-a-kind Ferrari California T has been done up in a special blue and white livery. Its three-layer Bianco Italia paintjob is overlaid with a pair of offset blue stripes, complimented by a set of 20-inch alloys in blue and silver. The interior is similarly done up in blue and white, but it's the material with which that's done that's the most interesting bit. Maranello has upholstered and trimmed the interior of this particular California with a new high-tech material called Mycro Prestige. It's less than a millimeter thick and weighs only a third of what the leather would, but it's flameproof and water resistant while being porous and breathable. Sort of like Alcantara, but more advanced. Of course these are only some of the options Ferrari can offer through its Tailor Made program. Clients are set up with their own personal designer who'll walk them through the endless choices available through three collections, dubbed Scuderia, Classica and Inedita, the latter offering the most out-there choices. So if what you really want is a Prancing Horse swathed in cashmere or denim, Ferrari will be only too glad to oblige your open checkbook. Ferrari will be showcasing a very special "Tailor Made" California T at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, inspired by the passion and colours of Polo and Horse racing. The California T encapsulates the ethos of personalisation, with a Bianco Italia three-layer exterior with a double-asymmetric stripe in Blu Hellen mirrored by a sumptuous Blu Sterling interior with Bianco elements and highlights. The car is finished off with 20" forged wheels which have been painted in Blu Hellen and Argento Nurburgring. This particular California T showcases a new high-tech "Mycro Prestige" fabric material that has been specifically made exclusively for Ferrari. Mycro Prestige is a highly resistant material that offers an exceptional level of grip, and, thanks to its unique mixture of fibres which are only 0.7mm thick, it is only one-third the weight of traditional leather.

Weekly Recap: Takeaways from the Frankfurt Motor Show

Sat, Sep 19 2015

We obsessively covered the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, and naturally, we selected our favorites from this fall's biggest automotive event. Now that the dust has settled, we're looking ahead to what it all means. Here are three takeaways from the floor in Frankfurt. The Germans are serious about electric vehicles: It's a bit cliche to say BMW, Mercedes, and Audi have downplayed electrics in favor of other technologies, like diesels. For a time that may have been true, but those three companies, along with Porsche and Volkswagen, are emerging as leaders in EV development. That was on display in Frankfurt, when all of them revealed either all-electric or plug-in hybrid models. Gas prices are relatively low in the United States, but clearly the Germans are thinking long-term and globally. Everyone is serious about SUVs: You gotta have one, even if you're Bentley or Jaguar. It's 2015 and it's what consumers want. As Jaguar design director Ian Callum put it, "Not to be in the sector would be a little naive for the sake of purity." It's not just the flashy exotic luxury makers. Nissan showed the Gripz concept, which is rakish, radical, and meant to blend traits of SUVs and sports cars into a vehicle that really crosses over. Look for more, especially in the luxury sector, as Rolls-Royce, Lamborghini, and Aston Martin ramp up their own SUV efforts. There's no ceiling to the luxury market: Speaking of high-end cars, companies are continuing to invest in extravagant wares beyond just SUVs. Even during the recession, ultra-luxury makers remained relevant, and now they're back at full stride. In Frankfurt, that was illustrated by yet another S-Class model, the cabriolet, which will come in S550 and S63 AMG variants in the United States. Ferrari also showed off the 488 Spider, and Lamborghini opened up the Huracan LP 610-4 Spyder. Meanwhile, Bugatti's Vision Grand Turismo concept reminded enthusiasts that it's plotting life after the Veyron. European auto shows always draw the glitziest reveals from luxury makers, and this year didn't disappoint. OTHER NEWS & NOTES 2016 Honda Civic redesigned with snazzier style, turbo power The 10th-generation of the Honda Civic debuted this week at events in Los Angeles and Detroit ahead of its launch in the United States this fall as a 2016 model. Honda fortified the Civic with LED lights, an available turbo engine, and a more tech-laden cabin.

Race Recap: 2013 Korean F1 Grand Prix crazy enough for Psy [spoilers]

Mon, 07 Oct 2013

The end of qualifying for the 2013 Korean Formula One Grand Prix left us with five pairs: two chassis each from Infiniti Red Bull Racing, Mercedes-AMG Petronas, Lotus, Ferrari and Sauber. Yes, Sauber. The last time the Swiss team had two drivers in the top ten was Japan last year, when Kamui Kobayashi converted the grid spot into a podium.
But let's start at the front of the top ten, where Sebastian Vettel put his Red Bull on pole for the 42nd time in his career. He was followed by Lewis Hamilton in second place by two-tenths of a second, Mark Webber in the second Infiniti Red Bull, and Romain Grosjean in the Lotus in fourth. Out-qualifying teammate Kimi Räikkönen again, the Finn would line up in tenth. Nico Rosberg put the second Mercedes in fifth, Fernando Alonso got the first Ferrari into sixth ahead of teammate Felipe Massa, while Nico Hülkenberg led with the first Sauber in eighth, teammate Esteban Gutiérrez showing the promise he was hired for (okay, and his money) in ninth. Except they'd all move up a place because Webber had to serve his ten-place grid penalty after getting his third reprimand of the season in Singapore. That would get Sergio Perez in his McLaren into tenth. Yes, McLaren needed a grid demotion ahead to make it into the top ten.
It was an entertaining top ten that no one would have expected. When the red lights went out, we were treated to one of the most entertaining races of the year - it was Gangnam Style at 300 kilometers per hour.
