1983 Ferrari Mondial QuattroValvole Cabriolet -VIN ZFFMC15A9D0048197
For your consideration is my clean 1983 Ferrari Mondial QV Cabriolet Convertible – the handbuilt four seater that
returned classic Pininfarina styling back to Ferrari and the quintessential four-seat Ferrari drop-top from the
mid-engined 80s!
Wearing just over 39,700 miles, this car has been our family weekend cruiser for the past five years. I have the
factory keys, original books and manuals and a good number of service records from my ownership and before. I
purchased the car from a collector in the Denver area, and prior to that it lived in the San Francisco Bay Area.
It’s been an absolute joy to own, but as with many car enthusiasts my short attention-span has me looking at
other opportunities to fill the garage space that this car is presently occupying…
The key major service item on these cars, and you have doubtless read, is the four-figure five-year timing belt
replacement which on this car was performed earlier this month. At the same time the mechanics addressed the
following:
· Installed new German canvas soft convertible top
· Replaced spark plug wires and extenders
· Replaced engine timing belts
· Replaced tensioner bearings
· Replaced a/c compressor and alternator belt tensioner bearings
· Replaced oil temperature sensor
· Replaced shifter shaft seal and boot
· Replaced transmission oil pan gaskets
· Replaced axle seals
· Replaced oil hose to cylinder head camshaft
· Replaced camshaft seals
· Replaced air pump pulley bearing
· Replaced engine oil and filter
· Changed transmission oil
· Replaced engine air intake hose
The car does not show any sign of fluid leaks and a new battery was installed last month. The convertible top was
replaced with a beautiful German canvas convertible top consistent with the high quality of a Ferrari.
On the inside, this car is in very nice condition. The interior has been refurbished andthe front seats rebuilt
using sturdy padding and beautiful new supple Italian leather. They are extremely comfortable and ready for a
casual cruise or a long drive to the next Mondialpalooza!
The velour carpeting is in excellent condition, and is covered with floor mats featuring the Ferrari emblem. The
dashboard is in excellent condition with no cracks or blemishes. There are no foul odors – there doesn’t appear
to have ever been any smoking or leaks inside. The air conditioning, power windows, convertible top, and power
locks all work properly. The car even comes with a Cobra theft alarm installed. The original factory radio needs
repair or replacement but for me the sound of the Ferrari V8 engine has always been music enough!
Outside, the car is remarkably straight save for a few small parking lot dings. I have not seen any sign of rust
anywhere on the car. The red “Rossa Corsa” paint carries a sparkling shine, and the doors shut with the
appropriate thunk. All of the lenses are in good, clear condition. The wheels are an improvement over the original
TRX metric-style and there is a spare tire in the trunk along with a complete tool kit and jack.
The motor starts easily and settles to a very smooth idle. The steering functions properly, and the 5-speed manual
transmission shifts smoothly. There are no odd noises or whines from the driveline. The brakes are in good
condition and do not pull. The car pulls like a freight train and achieves super-legal speeds in the blink of an
eye.

2016 Italian Grand Prix race recap

Mon, Sep 5 2016

The Italian Grand Prix at Monza is called the Temple of Power. Furthermore, the winning driver in Italy started on pole in 13 of the last 16 years, and only one driver in that time has won the Italian GP from behind the front row of the grid: Rubens Barrichello in 2002 and 2009. By this point in the current Formula 1 season (era?) we know what it means when a track emphasizes both power and pole position: Mercedes-AMG Petronas. The Silver Arrows locked out the front row with Lewis Hamilton on pole. A poor start prevented the Briton from capitalizing on the advantage, so teammate Nico Rosberg and four other drivers swept by him before the end of the second turn. Mercedes would later say a clutch issue caused Hamilton's botched start, but that didn't help the man who'd just fallen to sixth place. Rosberg got about two laps of television coverage on his way to an unbothered victory ahead of Hamilton. Ferrari made Hamilton's second-place finish easier by sticking to a two-stop strategy; both Mercedes drivers pitted once. We aren't sure why Ferrari didn't at least attempt a one-stopper once Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen had been gifted second and third on track. A pit stop took about 23 seconds from entry to exit and Vettel finished third, six seconds behind Hamilton. Raikkonen finished fourth, another seven seconds behind Vettel. Perhaps the Scuderia's tire usage wouldn't allow longer stints, but we'll never know. Daniel Ricciardo wielded his Red Bull like a scalpel to make an impeccable pass on Valtteri Bottas in the Williams and take fifth place. Ricciardo, trailing another Italian province behind, somehow closed the gap on Bottas in just the braking zone of Turn 1, pulling alongside near the apex without locking a wheel on entry nor running wide on exit. Bottas claimed sixth ahead of Red Bull's Max Verstappen, Sergio Perez in the Force India, Felipe Massa in the second Williams, and Nico Hulkenberg in the second Force India sealing the top ten. Monza did spring a few on-track surprises. Esteban Gutierrez drove Haas F1 into Q3 for the first time this season, the Mexican setting the sixth-best time in Q2. Manor Racing planned for Monza all season, Pascal Wehrlein repaying the effort by qualifying 13th. Fernando Alonso pitted his McLaren on Lap 50 of the 53-lap race for a set of super soft Pirellis, then set the fastest lap. It's Honda's first fastest lap since 1992. The biggest moments happened off the track.

Here's the first production Ferrari Sergio, and it's already been delivered

Fri, Dec 5 2014

Not even three months after its production announcement, Ferrari has already delivered the first Sergio, a wildly modified 458 Spider meant to honor Sergio Pininfarina, founder of the eponymous design studio that has turned out so many memorable prancing horses. Unsurprisingly, the roofless Ferrari, the first of six, was delivered to the Middle East, going to the SBH Royal Auto Gallery in the United Arab Emirates' capital, Abu Dhabi. Ferrari handed over the keys at the Yas Marina Circuit, which is currently playing host to the Finali Mondiali Ferrari, the same place the FXX K debuted earlier this week. With a 605-horsepower, 4.5-liter V8, the Sergio can hit 60 miles per hour in just three seconds, although this particular Ferrari is about a lot more than performance. The Pininfarina styling is the real focus here, giving a few lucky owners the opportunity to enjoy concept-car styling in a road-legal machine. Unlike the original Sergio, that debuted at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, though, the production model is somewhat tamer. Blame the necessity that is the windshield. That, though is the most significant change in evidence. All the very best parts of the concept car have seemingly made it through to production, including the lovely forward-swept rollbar and the stylish black element that defines the profile. Take a look up top for the official images from Ferrari, and then scroll below for Maranello's press release. The first Ferrari Sergio arrives in the UAE Abu Dhabi, 5th December 2014 – The first Ferrari Sergio has arrived in the United Arab Emirates. It has been delivered today to its new owner, the SBH Royal Auto Gallery in the UAE, at Abu Dhabi's Yas Marina Circuit, where the Finali Mondiali Ferrari are being staged and which is home to the Ferrari World theme park. Designed by Pininfarina, just six of this incredibly limited edition roadster are being built. The car was created to celebrate the spirit and core values of the historic Cambiano company in the 60th anniversary year of its collaboration with the Prancing Horse. Needless to say, Sergio was the only possible choice of name for the model, in homage to great Sergio Pininfarina, who sealed the unique, longstanding partnership with Ferrari. The Ferrari Sergio is a genuinely radical car. It is both exclusive and spare in the sense that every single element aboard is focused entirely on performance.

Dubai police add Ferrari FF to keep Lambo company

Thu, 18 Apr 2013

Supercars are a sulky lot by nature. Leave them to their own devices and they'll quickly grow despondent. That's why so many owners have more than one exotic in the stable. The Dubai Police seem to have caught on to that fact, having just added a Ferrari FF to help keep the force's new Lamborghini Aventador company. The duo will patrol the city's more affluent regions to promote the area's image as a mecca for money.
Mission: accomplished.
Of course, the Dubai PD certainly isn't the first law enforcement agency to adopt flashy cruisers, and car gods willing, it won't be the last. There was the Nissan GT-R gussied up for police duty, as well as the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 and the Mitsubishi Evo X, but we have to say the DPD certainly has the most lust-worthy stable at the moment.
