BMW hires Ferrari chief engineer Fedeli

There's going to be a little bit more Prancing Horse in some future BMWs because the Bavarian brand is hiring Ferrari chief engineer Roberto Fedeli to join the company in November. Fedeli's new position is still somewhat of a mystery though, and he reportedly might be lending his talents to the high performance M division or possibly even Rolls-Royce. When asked by Automotive News Europe, BMW said that it "currently can't say what his role will be."
Regardless of his new job, Fedeli was a big get for BMW because of his strong résumé. He has been with Ferrari since 1988 and led the engineering for the famous Italian automaker's vehicles since 2007. Fedeli tendered his resignation in September at around the same time that chairman Luca di Montezemolo announced his decision to leave the company. However, Ferrari told ANE that there was no connection between the two events.

There's no secret that we are big fans of the MotorWeek Retro Review series around here. In an automotive world that often focuses on the latest tech and what's coming in the future, it's refreshing to take a look into the past to get a new perspective. That said, the show is really outdoing itself this time by posting a full episode from the '80s to YouTube, complete with the original, jazzy opening. The video is an absolute standout, too, with drives of some of the best supercars that Europe could offer at the time. Among the now classic sportscars that MotorWeek got to drive are the Ferrari 328, Lotus Esprit Turbo, Lamborghini Jalpa and Autokraft AC Mark IV. There's even a preview that sings the praises of the tech in the Porsche 959. LaFerrari, meet YouTube. YouTube, LaFerrari

If, for some reason, you feel like we've left anything out of our coverage of the exciting new LaFerrari unveiled today in Geneva, don't fret - Ferrari has us covered. The automaker has graced us with a total of seven videos of its new hybrid supercar today including the original launch video we already showed you this morning.
The six new videos discuss a broad spectrum of topics, such as LaFerrari's overall architecture, carbon fiber chassis and body, driving dynamics and the 160-horsepower HY-KERS (HYbrid Kinetic Energy Recovery System) part of the powertrain. There is also coverage of today's auto show unveiling and, our favorite, a short video showing the car being tested around the Fiorano Circuit plus some bonus footage of past Ferrari supercars like the GTO, F40, F50 and Enzo.
In total, there is almost 30 minutes of video goodness to bring you just about all the information there is to know about LaFerrari, and all seven videos are posted below.
