Road & Track names its 2013 Performance Car of the Year

Road & Track recently staged its first annual Performance Car of the Year test, pitting 13 new and updated performance cars against each other on track, then graduating the top six to a road test before picking a winner. Additionally, the magazine staff picked the best automobiles of the year in eight categories.
But first, let's cover the PCotY segment. Here's the list of cars brought to the comparison test: Audi R8 V10 Plus; BMW 435i; BMW M6 Competition Package; Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Z51; Ferrari F12 Berlinetta; Ford Fiesta ST; Jaguar F-Type V8 S; Jaguar XFR-S; Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG S-Model Wagon; Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series; Mini John Cooper Works GP; Nissan GT-R Track Edition; and Porsche Cayman S.

Touring Superleggera Berlinetta Lusso makes us swoon [w/video]

For the past three years, we've been fortunate enough to have the folks at Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera bring something very special to the Geneva Motor Show: the Alfa Romeo 8C-based Disco Volante. First, it showed up in red (twice), and then last year, arrived in a very stunning shade of green. If we're honest, we were kind of hoping there'd be a further evolution of the Disco on display at this year's show, but then Touring unveiled the beauty you see here. Meet the Ferrari F12-based Berlinetta Lusso. What we really like about the Berlinetta Lusso is how closely it resembles the F12 on which its based, but with some rough edges smoothed out. Despite looking similar, almost the entire body is new, with smoother creases and more retro-inspired design cues. Honestly, to our eyes, it looks better than the Prancing Horse's original. Mechanically, it's pretty much all F12 underneath, right down to the screaming 6.3-liter V12 with 703 horsepower. We certainly don't have any complaints about that. Steve McQueen's Ferrari 275 GTB/4 To Be Auctioned In Monterey

We know from many, many years of watching classic car auctions, that there are certain qualities that ensure big money. For example, putting tiny silver horses and/or yellow badges on a red car will probably bring in a lot of cash. This is doubly true if said car hails from the 1950s or 1960s, and it's triply true if some dude drove it around in circles or if a celebrity owned it. That, friends, is how you make the serious dosh at auction. Considering that, we should expect big, big things when this 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 crosses the block at the big RM Auctions event during the festivities surrounding the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. Terrence Steven McQueen, better known as Steve McQueen and even better known as the coolest actor of the 1960s and 1970s, originally purchased this car while filming Bullitt in San Francisco, which should provide a big boost to its sale price. As previously reported, this car has undergone a full restoration and has received its certification from the team at Ferrari Classiche. Beyond that, though, we're kind of in the dark about this beauty. We don't even have a rough guess of how much it'll go for. That's where you come in.
