This is a low mileage 1998 Maranello, 5.5L, twelve cylinder in very good condition; but with a damage history. The damage was confined to the drivers area. None of the running gear was damaged. The repair is very professional and I doubt if a Ferrari expert could detect any flaws.
The color combination is one of the most desirable and rarest in the big car Ferrari line. It is black on black!
Recent maintenance: The original tires were replaced in March of this year not because the tires were worn out but because of their age. They were replaced with Goodyear F1, Zspeeds, the recommended size and then balanced. The new tires have less than 30 miles on them, at the time of this ad.
I had both fuel pumps replaced, the fuel lines flushed, and the fuel tank removed and flushed by Ferrari of Central Florida. The oxygen censers and ECU's were replaced.
The hydrolic throwout bearing started to leak so I had it replaced at the Collection in Miami. /The AC compressor was sent out for a rebuild and the system was recharged.
The car starts quickly and idles smoothly. All the coolants are in the green, and it tracks as it should, brakes are excellent. I have 2 keys, the Ferrari battery charger, and the Ferrari toolkit, ( minus a screwdriver), that will go with the sale.
At the conclusion of the sale, I would like the buyer to contact me at the phone number provided. I will require a non refundable wire transfer of $3000 within 2 days of the end of the sale. Balance of the purchase price to be paid by cleared wire transfer within 10 days of end of auction; prior to pickup or delivery of the car.
I would prefer for the winning bidder to pickup the car, but if that is not possible I can deliver the car door to door anywhere south of Orlando for free. I can personally deliver the car to your address anywhere in the U.S., for a fee. Or, I will work with your shipper to facilitate a smooth transfer.
This is your opportunity to own a rare, exotic car for the price of a used BMW.
If you have any questions about the car, payment, or shipping call me at; 239-731-4986 or 239-297-0273. My name is Carl.

This rare vintage Ferrari is not like the others
Sun, Nov 22 2015This particular Ferrari profiled by Petrolicious is attached to many of the vital names we've come to associate with the brand, like Dino, Scaglietti, Ascari, and Formula 1. What it doesn't have is the kind of engine we've come to associate with Maranello: at the front of that delicious bodywork is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 172 horsepower. The car is a 1955 Ferrari 500 Mondial Series II Scaglietti-bodied spider, its engine derived from the 2.0-liter engine used in the Ferrari 500 race car that Alberto Ascari used to win the F1 World Championship in 1952 and 1953. We can only wonder if any of today's cars will provide the same joy at being a barn find as this one did for its affable owner, retired US Navy Admiral Robert Phillips. He discovered it in the back of a dealership in 1960 - it had been sitting unused in Ohio and California for years - and almost walked away from it. He only bought it when he realized it had a four-pot engine. He paid two-thirds of his yearly salary at the time for it, the handsome sum of $2,225. In today's money that's about $18,000. Phillips says there are only three left with the original engines, so odds are that his car's value is exponentially more than the inflation-adjusted purchase price. One of them is going on the block with RM Auctions next month which looks a lot like this one, and they've listed it as "Price on Request." Phillips is our kind of owner, though - one who believes his car is meant to be driven, and who wants to pass it on to another driver when the time comes. His vehicle has quite the history, too, making its way to the Americas thanks to a call from the president of Venezuela to Enzo Ferrari. Check out the video for its beautiful story. Related Video:
Last Ferrari 275 GTS/4 NART Spider could top $26m at auction
Tue, Apr 19 2016One of the prettiest convertible Ferraris built, the NART Spider is also one of the rarest – only ten cars ever left the factory. This specific car was the last off the line, and has the additional distinction of being the only NART Spider sold new in Europe. It was also the only one painted in the Grigio Scuro shade of medium grey from factory. It has been redone in a tasteful red, which is an interesting change from the usual bright Ferrari color. It is also the third-to-last Ferrari 275 to be built altogether. The NART name stands for North American Racing Team, and the drop-top production run is credited to the U.S. Ferrari distributor Luigi Chinetti, who wanted to boost the 275 model's sales with a limited edition convertible model. Originally, Ferrari planned to build 25 cars, but despite the racing pedigree only ten found owners. The first NART Spider finished second in class at the 1967 12 Hours of Sebring, and the model also has some Steve McQueen cool about it due to a starring role in The Thomas Crown Affair. This car, chassis #11057, was sold new in Madrid to a Spanish Foreign Legion colonel, and spent its first 14 years in Spain. In the early 1980s it was bought by a Swiss collector, who had it restored for the first time, and in the mid-90s it moved to the UK. The current paint scheme dates back to 2001, while the interior's beige leather re-trim is from 2009. Despite a gradual change in appearance, it is a fully numbers-matching car that still retains the 300-horsepower Colombo V12 it received at the Maranello factory. A similar NART Spider was auctioned at RM Auctions' Monterey event in 2013, for a staggering $27.5 million. That specific example, finished in a brighter hue was estimated at 17 million tops, so it will be interesting to see whether this darker car will surpass its estimate at the auction held on May 14th. BMW, Ferrari, VW cars use tungsten mined by terrorists
Thu, 08 Aug 2013Bloomberg Markets is reporting that BMW, Volkswagen and Ferrari have been using tungsten ore sourced from Columbia's FARC rebel terrorists. The extensive story focuses on Columbia's illegal mining trade and calls into question the provenance of the rare ore that is used not only in crankshaft parts production, but is also found in the world's computing and telecommunications industry for use in screens.
The ore is mined by the FARC (Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia, or Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia - People's Army), and exported to Pennsylvania, where it is refined. The refined ore is then sent over to Austria, where a company called Plansee turns it into a finished product. Now, it's important to note that we aren't talking about the world's supply of tungsten here. In 2012, Plansee's American refinery purchased 93.2 metric tons of tungsten, valued at $1.8 million. That's peanuts, with the entire Colombian tungsten mining industry producing just one percent of the world's supplies.
That doesn't make indirectly supporting FARC any more acceptable, though. BMW, VW and Ferrari are all committed to not accepting mineral supplies from the Democratic Republic of Congo, which is also in the grips of a guerrilla insurrection funded, in part, by illegal mining. The same commitment would figure to extend to Colombian mining, but as BMW points out, it's difficult for a multi-national manufacturer to know where every item in its supply chain comes from. A company spokesperson says as much, telling Bloomberg, "These few grams out of the billions of tons of raw materials passing through the BMW supply chain are of no practical relevance."
