Lionel Messi jokes about rumors he bought 1957 Ferrari 335S
Fri, Feb 12 2016Rumors hint that star soccer player Lionel Messi was the highest bidder for the 1957 Ferrari 335S that sold for $34.9 million in Paris last week. He may have even outbid rival Cristiano Ronaldo to win the expensive Prancing Horse. Messi clearly heard about the speculation around his purchase and posted a photo of himself on Instagram holding Lightning McQueen from the Cars series. His jovial message read "My new car" and ended with several laughing emojis. According to Sport, the Ferrari's seller claimed Messi was the car's buyer in a press release about the auction, but the soccer star has decided to remain quiet. Sport further muddies the waters by citing anonymous sources close to Messi who deny he's the winning bidder. Whoever won the auction, we hope they let the public see this incredibly valuable, race-winning Ferrari sometime soon. This content is hosted by a third party. James Glickenhaus teases sleek SCG 003 supercar
Thu, 19 Dec 2013He may not have known it at the time, but James Glickenhaus started a small revolution when he commissioned Pininfarina to turn his Ferrari Enzo into a tribute to the legendary 330 P3/4. The P4/5 is what resulted, and Ferrari gave its blessing for it to wear the Prancing Horse emblem - something it hadn't done for a coachbuilt custom in decades. A slew of rebodied Ferraris followed, prompting the factory to launch its own coachbuilding division. But Jim wasn't out of the picture.
The former Hollywood filmmaker and investment banker followed up with the P4/5 Competition based on the 430 Scuderia, and started Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus to race it. Now SCG is returning with a new project, and has released this teaser video (which you can view in the embedded Facebook post below) to keep us on our toes.
From the few glimpses the video provides of a rendering, it's hard to tell much, but from what we can see, it looks pretty slick. Just what sort of technical details will form the underpinnings remains to be seen, but we're looking forward to seeing how it turns out.
Chris Harris wrings out Ferrari F40 and F50 on track
Mon, 09 Sep 2013Chris Harris one of the most beloved of British automotive journalists, and yet Ferrari doesn't seem inclined to take him off its black list. Something about having shined the light on the way Maranello sets up its cars for press evaluations, years ago... So the only time the auto scribe and video host we know as Monkey gets his hands on a Prancing Horse-emblazoned steering wheel is when a private owner offers Harris a drive. Fortunately, that seems to happen all the time, but rarely in such a fashion as it has for this latest video.
Here the owner of not only an F40 but also its successor the F50 has lent Harris both of his anniversary-edition Ferrari supercars and insisted that he drive them aggressively. So off they went to the Anglesey circuit in Wales to see how these precursors to the Enzo and LaFerrari fare alongside one another decades after they first hit the road.
