2001 Ferrari 360 Spider F1 on 2040-cars
2001 Ferrari Spider (Euro) Original and only owner. The VIN is ZFFYT53B000125373. This is a European specification car that I bought new while I was living in London. I determined early on that the car was better suited to my vacation home in Florida and engaged Autosport Designs of Long Island, NY to do the EPA and DOT work. I titled the car in Florida in 2003 where it has remained. I returned from London in 2005 and have since been using the car regularly. Obviously not for the red/tan buyer, this monochromatic car is pretty low key for a Ferrari. The interior, roll hoops and convertible top are all in gray and the exterior is Argento Nurburgring. The car is accident-free and in excellent overall condition. The exterior has a few stone chips and there are a few small scratches over the rear bumper cover, but they are not really noticeable. I never tracked the car but I have driven it almost 24k miles. Chips happen. The interior is likewise in excellent condition. All the sticky switch gear has been cleaned or refinished. The upper dash shrunk, which is not uncommon under the Florida sun. I had it replaced by Ferrari and it remains in great condition. I had ceramic film installed on all glass to help prevent a reoccurrence. The driver’s seat shows a little wear (see photos), but it’s in great condition for being 13 years old. The passenger seat rarely held a passenger. The original floor mats were wearing out, so I added the ones pictured. The originals will go with the car. I'm happy to accommodate a pre-purchase inspection at buyer's expense. FACTORY OPTIONS: F1 transmission Gray convertible top Matching gray roll hoops CD / RDS stereo 6-disk cd changer HID headlights (option in European markets at the time) ADDITIONAL OPTIONS: OEM Ferrari Challenge wheels Capristo exhaust (no valves) Custom professionally installed sound system (Hertz, Audison
and Alpine) with Bluetooth Escort 9500ci radar/laser detection professionally installed HomeLink rearview mirror (with 3 memories) Challenge Stradale TCU Ceramic film on windows and windshield (70%-almost clear) Clear bra on front bumper Battery tender (hardwired) SERVICE HISTORY: The car has been timely and fully serviced exclusively by authorized Ferrari dealerships (first by Ferrari of Ft. Lauderdale and more recently by Ferrari of Tampa Bay). I will gladly detail dates and descriptions of services performed but will not scan and email copies. Of course, the extensive and complete service history is available for in-person review by potential buyers or their representatives, and the records will go with to the new owner. The car underwent an annual service in Nov 2013. Before that, in May 2012 at 21,981 miles, the car underwent a belt service and had a new clutch installed, including new flywheel, ring gear, etc., etc., etc., to the tune of $16k after discount. Included in that service was a new A/C compressor to resolve a slow leak. The new owner will get a car with absolutely no deferred maintenance. All the weaknesses of the early 360s have been attended to. All the expensive work has been done and is current. ADDITIONAL NOTES: The stereo installation is reversible. I have all the original equipment, which will go to the new owner. I bought a second pair of door pockets for the custom door speaker installation (the speaker grills mimic the Hertz logo). I have the original door pockets, which will go to the new owner. Subwoofer enclosure is friction fit and easily removable for service (as pictured). I have the original wheels and tires (which are essentially unused), which will go to the new owner. WHAT’S INCLUDED: The car, as described The original covers for the car, seats and steering wheel The original flat tire repair kit The original complete tool kit The original complete complement of owner’s manuals,
including alarm and radio code cards The original wind buffer screen The original battery tender (European version) The original wheels and tires 1 red and 2 black remote keyfobs 2 keys (one unused) All original stereo equipment Original, unaltered door pockets Original floor mats All service records |

Race Recap: 2013 Italian Grand Prix is mistakes, gremlins and metronomes [spoilers]
Sun, 08 Sep 2013The low-downforce, 5.793-kilometer circuit in Monza, Italy is known as the Temple of Speed, but only a few of the qualifying performances would have clued you into it. Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber in the Infiniti Red Bull Racing chassis' lined up first and second, and it didn't seem like Vettel had to work too hard to do so. Nico Hülkenberg truly lived up to his nickname, The Hulk, and put his Sauber third on the grid, a massive drive and turn-of-speed that even he didn't expect, especially with his teammate Esteban Gutiérrez down in 13th.
The rest of the top ten was what you might expect. Shenanigans at Ferrari ended up with Felipe Massa out-qualifying Fernando Alonso for fourth and fifth, a situation that led to Alonso calling his team either "stupid" or "genius," depending on how you translate his Italian, his sarcasm and his honesty. They were followed by Nico Rosberg in the Mercedes-AMG Petronas, the soon-to-be Infiniti Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo in the Toro Rosso, the McLaren duo of Sergio Perez and Jenson Button and the second Toro Rosso of Jean-Eric Vergne.
Why wasn't Kimi Räikkönen at Lotus in that group? Because his car only had the pace to make 11th on the grid, so he said. And behind him, Lewis Hamilton - who "drove like an idiot," in his words - in the second Mercedes.
Ferrari California T has a turbo V8 lurking under new nose [w/video]
Tue, 04 Mar 2014The Ferrari California might technically be the Prancing Horse's entry-level model, but there is nothing basic about the latest upgrade for the California T. Showing its face to the public for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show, it is now propelled by a 3.9-liter, turbocharged V8 with 560 horsepower and 557 pound-feet of torque, which equates to an extra 70 hp and a 49 percent increase in torque over the previous engine.
The forced induction mill is enough to accelerate it to 62 miles per hour in 3.6 seconds. Also not that many Ferrari buyers are going to care, but the switch also means a 15 percent improvement in fuel economy. Oh, and based on the video preview below, it sounds pretty good, too.
While the new engine is certainly the headline grabber, there are other upgrades as well: a top that closes in 14 seconds, new steering box, improved magnetic dampers and an upgraded traction control system. Pininfarina also reshaped the nose to make it more look like Ferraris of the 1960s. This is seems to be the best looking and performing California yet.
Ferrari to reveal exclusive F12 NART next month in LA
Mon, 15 Sep 2014While denying his tenure was coming to an end just prior to his resignation last week, outgoing Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo hinted at two new models to be revealed next month. One we anticipate to be a new version of the 458 - either the new turbocharged M model or the limited-edition Scuderia Spider - to be revealed at the Paris Motor Show on October 2, and the other we knew would be a strictly limited special exclusive to North America. And now we appear to have an idea of what that model will be.
According to Automotive News, we'll likely be looking at a version of the F12 Berlinetta decked out with the blue and white stripes pioneered by the North American Racing Team (NART) and most recently applied to the 458 Speciale. The special model is also likely to get custom bodywork and a revised interior - similar to what Ferrari Special Projects does for individual customers, but produced in a limited run of 10 examples.
All 10 of those are likely to already have been spoken for, with a price tag tipped to exceed $3 million apiece. The model will be revealed on October 12 at a special event in Los Angeles marking 60 years of Ferrari in America which will likely be Montezemolo's last event as chairman before handing over control to Sergio Marchionne and collecting his eight-figure severance package.
