Description

Selling my very first Ferrari: a 1998 F355 Spider (manual gearbox) in Giallo Modena with Pelle Nero (black leather). This car was sold new by Ferrari of Munich on September 12 1998. It now has done slightly over 47,000 km. The last big engine-out service was performed on March 26 2010 by Kent High Performance (UK) at which time the car had 44,442 km.

This is an accident-free car with straight body panels and extremely good paintwork. Minor stone chips appear on the front bumper and the lower edge of the luggage compartment. This Ferrari comes with the desirable Challenge grille and has all goodies in good working order. This includes a properly functioning convertible top and seat mechanisms. Both exhaust manifolds were replaced in 2007, when the car had around 40,000 km. The F355 is arguably one of the best driving V8 Ferraris and this car certainly does not let down in this respect. It is an extremely agile and nimble Ferrari, which gives me a broad smile on my face every time I hear that V8 screaming in my neck.

The car comes with all tools, manuals and a Ferrari car cover in its original stowage bag. Also included with the car is a Belgian "Certificate of Conformity". Ebay USA does not allow me to list the European VIN, hence the use of 11111111111111111. If you send me a message, I will be happy to supply you with the VIN.

The car is priced to sell at 45,000 Euros. This is a very exquisite car which can be driven and enjoyed as is. All EU taxes have been paid, so the car can be transfered within the European community without any import duties or VAT. The car is currently located in Belgium, but I can arrange worldwide shipping.

Inspections by genuinely interested buyers are encouraged and can be arranged after having made an appointment.

Sergio Marchionne wants Alfa Romeo back in F1

Mon, Feb 15 2016

It's been decades since Alfa Romeo has competed in Formula One. But if Sergio Marchionne gets his way, it could make a comeback soon. Now we know what you might be thinking: Alfa Romeo and Ferrari are both part of the same Fiat Chrysler Automobiles group, so why would Marchionne want two brands competing against each other in such a costly racing series? Because technically speaking, Ferrari is no longer part of FCA, that's why. They share mostly the same owners and are run by the same person (Marchionne), but the Prancing Horse marque recently split off from its former parent company and floated its own shares on the stock market. That makes it a separate entity, and also means that FCA no longer has a direct link to F1. But its chief executive clearly thinks the investment is worthwhile. Marchionne has been known to state grandiose plans, but he's also been known to carry through on many of them. So the next question is, if the plan goes through, just how Alfa Romeo might participate in F1? Some automakers (like Mercedes) field their own teams, others (like Honda) compete as engine suppliers, and still others (like Infiniti) as branding partners. Alfa could go either route, but Marchionne told Italy's La Gazzetta dello Sport that "Alfa Romeo is able to make itself a chassis, and it is able to make engines." Of course, that doesn't mean that it necessarily will. It could outsource a chassis from a constructor like Dallara, which is located near the same Varano circuit that Alfa uses regularly. It could also source an engine from its former sister company: Marchionne floated the possibility of starting a separate engine program in Maranello for Red Bull when it was hunting for a new engine partner, and could ostensibly do the same for Alfa Romeo. "In order to re-establish itself as a sport brand, Alfa Romeo can and must consider the possibility of return to race in Formula 1," said Marchionne. "How? Probably in a collaboration with Ferrari." Alfa Romeo first competed in F1 in the early 1950s, winning the world championship two years running in 1950 with Giuseppe Farina (scion of Pininfarina) and 1951 with Juan Manuel Fangio. It then dropped out, only to resurface as a full constructor team between 1979 and 1985, with limited results. It also supplied engines to an array of teams in the 1960s, '70s, and '80s.

Ferrari, Mercedes selling cars with faulty Takata airbags

Thu, Jul 21 2016

According to the US Senate, a small group of automakers are still selling new cars with faulty Takata airbags. Automotive News reports that Ferrari's entire lineup and various Mercedes-Benz vehicles come with faulty airbags and are subject to being recalled by the end of 2018. US Senator Bill Nelson, (D-FL), claims the affected Ferrari models include: the 2016 to 2017 FF, California T, F12 Berlinetta, F12 TdF, 488 GTB, 488 Spider, and GTC4 Lusso. Mercedes-Benz is also in the mix with the 2016 Sprinter and 2016 to 2017 E-Class Coupe and Convertible. Automotive News reports that both Ferrari and Mercedes-Benz will require its dealers to notify buyers of a recall in the vehicles' future. The National Highway traffic Safety Administration claims the vehicles are legal to be sold, as the airbags are safe until exposed to high humidity for a significant period of time. With the majority of Ferrari drivers storing their vehicles in temperature-controlled garages, this shouldn't be troubling news. What is troubling, however, is that seven out of 17 automakers that Senator Nelson contacted admitted to putting defective Takata airbags into its new cars. Volkswagen, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, and Toyota are a few automakers that still use Takata's faulty airbags. All have agreed to notify buyers of future recalls. This 1967 Ferrari 275 is Jay Leno's teenage dream car

Tue, Aug 16 2016

Jay Leno isn't a major Ferrari fan, even going as far as taking a Lamborghini over one in the past. But in this episode of Jay Leno's garage, he reveals his soft spot for the 275 GTB/4. This Ferrari was one of his dream cars from his teen years. Thanks to David Lee, a watch dealer and the car's owner, Leno gets that chance. Sometimes your heroes meet their heroes. Throughout the video, Leno gushes about the car. From the 3.3-liter V12 engine, to the graceful body work, he doesn't have a single negative word about it. Leno's praise also centers on the simplicity and purpose of this particular machine. It has plain and simple gauges, the only comfort feature is power windows, and it has a classic gated manual transmission. Leno also highlights how the car doesn't compromise its design; The only purpose of the styling is to please the eye. So check out the video above to see Leno fall in love with this red Ferrari. It's worth watching just to hear the V12 breathe deeply through its six carburetors. Related Video:
