Modena opens new Enzo Ferrari museum

Enzo Ferrari was one of the 20th century's racing icons, and on the 116th birthday of its founder, Ferrari opened a lavish new wing of the Enzo Ferrari Museum in Modena, Italy. The new hall is shaped like the hood of a '50s Ferrari racer on the outside and contains a century's worth of the brand's history inside. Ferrari Chairman Luca di Montezemolo and Enzo's son, Piero Ferrari, dedicated the new building on February 18.
The Enzo Ferrari Museum existed previously as two buildings, including Enzo's childhood home and his father's workshop, but the new building was created to display the Prancing Horse's full history. Projectors display images and films of Enzo's like across its walls and floors, and the cars on display represent Ferrari's most important as a driver and constructor over the past century.
The new gallery is meant to compliment the Museo Ferrari in nearby Maranello. Enzo's museum focuses squarely on Ferrari's past, and the other concentrates on brand's present and future, while still displaying some important classic models. Both will be open every day, expect for Christmas and the New Year.

In order to properly compare and contrast the performance characteristics of competitive automobiles, a number of variables have to be sorted out. For instance, to diminish the human component, the same driver must be used for each lap, that driver has to be capable of wringing the maximum level of performance from each vehicle, and they should all be checked and prepared to make sure they are within manufacturer specs before hitting the track. Speaking of which, the conditions at the track – and, of course, it goes without saying that the cars have to be tested at the same location, on the same day – have to be as similar as possible. Naturally, arranging all of these variables is difficult, if not impossible, and that's especially true when the contenders are the Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1, and Porsche 918 Spyder. As range-topping models from well-established performance players, these three hybrid hypercars are often lumped into the same category. But which one is fastest? Well, that's been a tough nut to crack, in part because the manufacturers themselves haven't always been willing to play along when it comes time to test these machines head-to-head-to-head. And so, with all that (probably unnecessary) preamble out of the way, we present to you the video above, in which this particular vehicular pedestal is toppled. All three cars are owned by a man named Paul Bailey, they were tested on the same day at the Silverstone circuit in England, and each had British Touring Car driver Mat Jackson at the helm. We're not going to spoil the results, other than to say that all three vehicles were incredibly fast and within spitting distance of one another at the finish line, as you would expect. Intriguingly, this video is said to be part one in a three-part series, so we have more Ferrari vs. McLaren vs. Porsche action to look forward to. 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 is a love letter to Steve McQueen

There have been plenty of movie stars who've been into cars, but few genuine aficionados like Steve McQueen. The legendary King of Cool was known for driving his green Mustang and Porsche prototypes on the big screen, but in his private life, he loved his Ferrari.
There was, of course, his iconic 250 GT Lusso, but back in 1967, the actor and sometimes racer also bought a rare 275 NART Spyder. Sadly, that car was totaled a mere two days after he took possession, and there were no replacements available. So he bought this hardtop 275 GTB/4 instead.
Ferrari's Classiche department recently restored the car to pristine condition and RM Auctions sold it for over $10 million, but there's more to its story than its celebrity provenance and high hammer price.
