I am selling my 1998 Ferrari F355 F1 Spyder, I have owned the car for 7 years. This is an F355 that you could put in the garage and enjoy on sunny weekends, but mostly, this is an F355 that wants to be driven. The car is in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition.  It is not perfect, I call it an 8.5 out of 10 with normal small dings, leather wear, and typical aging of a garage kept low mile well kept super car.  All Major and minor service is up to date less than 3000 miles ago, plus new tires, and is ready to drive anywhere ant time!!

I encourage any serous buyer to come by and take a look at and drive the car.  You will be impressed!!  I looked at several other 355's before purchasing this one...  Based on the condition of those vehicles, I decided to buy this one.  Seriously, this one is fantastic.  Reliable, factory spec, and a blast to drive.  Always starts without issue.  Drives like a dream.  Scares the hell out of you if you so desire, and looks fantastic.  This is a car to be proud of, trust to take you anywhere, and just makes you smile when you walk into your garage.

PLEASE FEEL FREE TO EMAIL ME YOUR PHONE NUMBER TO DISCUSS THE CAR..  I WILL CALL YOU AS SOON AS I AM AVAILABLE.

I purchased the car and worked with Brian Stewart from AutoCar here in Indy (see http://www.eurocardoc.com/ for details about Brian's knowledge, capability, and experience) to update the 355 to better than original condition.  The previous owner damaged the engine (glad to share the story over the phone just send me your number and I will call) so I worked with Brian and he located a pre-owned 1998 F355 Challenge car complete short block assembly with 18K documented miles (I have the records from the seller documenting the history of the engine - see Pictures). The Challenge owners Son wrecked the "donor" car in 2005, we purchased the engine in 2007. The engine and surrounding components were untouched and in excellent condition. We received the engine and Brian performed cylinder leak down testing to validate the condition of the engine. The Challenge engine leak down tests were well within factory specifications. In addition, the spark plugs from the replacement engine were a perfect light tan color further supporting that the engine was in excellent running condition! Brian went to work completely removed and replaced the original damaged engine with the Challenge short block. In addition to removing the old engine, Brian removed the oil tank, oil lines, and oil cooler and sent them out for ultrasonic cleaning to be certain that there were no contaminants remaining from the old system. AGAIN, PLEASE SEND ME YOUR NUMBER TO DISCUSS ANY DETAILS REGARDING THE SERVICE AND NEW ENGINE!!

Putting it all back together; I asked Brian to perform a complete major service during the installation. Brian replaced timing belt pulleys, tensioner, both timing belts, 8 spark plugs, 355 service gasket kit (required to install the entire air and fuel intake system), G12 anti freeze, ATF synthetic fluid, synthetic engine oil and filter, 8 intake and exhaust gaskets, 2 fuel oil ring seals, transmission oil (75w90 synthetic), both air filters, installed a new oil pan gasket, and took care of a few miscellaneous hardware needs. In addition, Brian takes the extra step to further improve reliability by using a cleaner/preservative product designed to eliminate any connection issues on all electrical connections. In summary, I asked Brian to repair and replace anything that was needed during this major service - (See the detailed service receipt in the pics - will be included with the car!!).
Needless to say, the car runs and drives like a dream, and the best part is that it is ready to go anywhere. I've put about 3000 miles on the 355 since Brian completed the major service.
In addition to the engine service at 37700 miles, the clutch was replaced at 33K miles by the original owner. He also performed all factory recommended maintenance, and a few other repairs (CV boot, shifter linkage, etc). I installed new Dunlop DZ101 Durezza performance tires at 38000 miles, so they are in new condition. The brakes are in great shape, and the body is gorgeous. The front bumper was repainted to clean up 10 years of rock chips, and the passenger door was painted at the same time due to clear coat peeling off from a couple door dings. The rest of the car is original paint. The top is in like new condition and goes down with no problems. The convertible top is in great shape, and the boot is clean with very little wear in the typical high stress areas - It has a little wear at the boot connection points which is normal, but looks fantastic when installed. The AC is cold, and all other options perform as designed (the brakes could stop a freight train, power windows, power seats, lights, etc…) .  All of the official specifications are located here - http://www.automobile-catalog.com/make/ferrari/f355/f355_spider/1998.html
I recently installed an Alpine Bluetooth AM/FM, CD, Pandora, HD Radio with an additional Pioneer amp and a CUSTOM built subwoofer between the seats - Sounds great, and the bluetooth is a nice option...
Driving; the care drives great and is a joy to drive. Whether you take a trip, or just go chew up some corners. . . - you WILL come home with a smile on your face. The F1 transmission works great in manual and is very smooth in auto mode, shifting is crisp, and the car is very tight -- especially for a convertible.

I have records back to the original owner, the receipt from all the service I had completed as described (see pics), the owners original leather manual holder, original manual, various original option and service manuals, and the original convertable top cover (boot) see Pics!!

In my and several other Ferrari owners/driver opinions, the 355 is THE LAST of the “not too much tech” Ferraris.  The driver controls are sharp, the feel of the road is amazing, and taking a corner really feels like you are driving the car instead of the technology taking over like on the newer models.  This IS and drives like a classic Ferrari, with just enough modern comforts.
As I mentioned earlier, Brian Stewart performed all of the service on my 355 and he is willing to talk with any serious potential buyer to answer any questions concerning my 355.

As mentioned, the owners manual, leather holder, past and current records are included.  If you are looking for a great F355, this is the one!  Take a look at my feedback and bid with confidence!!  Thank you for looking at my auction, and Happy bidding!!

I am asking $53,750 OBO.  Again, please feel free to send me your phone number to discuss details.

LaFerrari trading at double its list price

Mon, 11 Aug 2014

If you've been looking at the seven-figure price tags (plus or minus) on the latest batch of hypercars, and wondering how their manufacturers could possibly charge that much, consider that their predecessors typically traded at well above their list price as it is. The Ferrari Enzo, for example, listed for "only" $650k, but with production limited to 349 units, demand far outstripped supply, driving the mark-up into seven-figures. In fact Enzos are still selling for a million or more at auction. Surely Ferrari deserves a piece of that action itself, at least as much as the speculators... hence the $1.7 million sticker price on its successor LaFerrari.
Here's the thing, though: according to the latest reports, buyers are paying that much again just for the privilege of getting their hands on a LaFerrari. In other words, they're paying double the already sky-high asking price: as much as $3.4 million to put it in the same ballpark as the Lamborghini Veneno (whose production was even more limited) and the latest Legend edition of the Bugatti Veyron Vitesse roadster.
The story gets a bit more sane with its rivals, though: according to the analysis reported by Oracle Finance, the McLaren P1 is commanding "only" a $500k premium over list, and the Porsche 918 Spyder "just" $335k extra. However even less expensive new models from high-end automakers like the Lamborghini Huracán and Porsche Macan are reportedly commanding $50k and $10k premiums, respectively.

Ferrari 212 Barchetta highlights RM auction at Villa d'Este

Tue, May 26 2015

While show-goers sip champagne and basque in the glow of some of the most beautiful classics and most notable concept cars at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este, at the Villa Erba just down the shore, collectors bid on some of the most tempting automotive creations. And this year was no exception. Highlighting RM Sotheby's auction this year was a rare classic 1952 Ferrari 212 Export Barchetta. The Touring-bodied competition roadster from Ferrari's early days fetched an incredible ˆ6,720,000 – nearly $7.4 million at current exchange rates – to set a new record for that model. According to Sports Car Market, the previous record was held by a 212 Export coupe that sold for $3.2 million early last year. A Barchetta failed to sell for a high bid of $1.97 million in 2008, which just goes to show how far this auction raised the bar for the 212. Though it was by far the top lot of the day, it wasn't the only million-dollar sale of the day. Heck, it wasn't even the only million-dollar Ferrari sold. A quartet of Ferrari supercars – including a 288 GTO, F40, F50 and Enzo – each fetched seven figures, as did a 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso and a 250 GT Cabriolet. So did a Lamborghini Miura, a '73 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 and a '53 Fiat 8V Cabriolet, if you can believe it. Other notable lots included a 1949 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 SS Villa d'Este Coupe, a '74 Lancia Stratos and a rare stick-shift Ferrari 599 HGTE. All told, RM Sotheby's racked up nearly $30 million in sales at its first European auction since merging and rebranding, selling 34 out of the 39 lots consigned, but that stunning 250 California Spider did not appear to be among them.

A weird end to a weird F1 season | 2016 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix recap

Mon, Nov 28 2016

The 2016 Formula 1 season ended with a bang that came from a direction no one expected. Lewis Hamilton put his Mercedes-AMG Petronas on pole position and then got away clean to start the race. Teammate Nico Rosberg did the next best thing, lining up in second and following right behind Hamilton for most of the race. Other than Rosberg's wicked pass on Red Bull's Max Verstappen to retake second place on Lap 20, things stayed all quiet at the front. Come Lap 32 of the 55-lap race, however, observers began to wonder why Hamilton was driving so slow. The Brit, working every trick he could think of to win the Driver's World Championship instead of just the race, dogged it out front trying to push Rosberg back into the chasing mix of Red Bulls and Ferraris. Over the next 15 laps Hamilton's race engineer repeatedly radioed ideal lap times. Hamilton only occasionally hit the times until finally saying, "I suggest you let us race." When the one-stopping Sebastian Vettel blasted his Ferrari from sixth to third, nosing up to Rosberg's gearbox, Mercedes team honcho Paddy Lowe got on the radio to instruct Hamilton to go faster. Hamilton replied that if he wasn't going to win the championship he didn't care about winning the race. Hamilton repeatedly zoomed through the first sector to keep everyone behind, then clogged up the works through Sectors 2 and 3. The problem with his plan was that the Red Bulls in fourth and fifth couldn't get close enough to threaten the trio at the front; even if Vettel had got by Rosberg, Rosberg would still win the Championship with a third-place finish. As it happened, Rosberg finished second behind the disconsolate Hamilton. Vettel took third, followed by Red Bull drivers Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo, then the second Ferrari piloted by Kimi Raikkonen in sixth. Nico Hulkenberg took seventh, beating Force India teammate Sergio Perez for the last time as an intra-team rivalry. Felipe Massa closed his F1 career with ninth place in a Williams chassis that he got to take home as a gift from the team. Fernando Alonso scored the final point for McLaren, a touch of sweet for the team after the bitterness of Jenson Button retiring on Lap 12 with suspension damage. Rosberg's second place earned him 385 points for the season, enough to take the World Driver's Championship from Hamilton by just five points. Some have put the title down to Rosberg's consistency, others to his car's reliability.
