This 348ss (#95 of 100) was purchased new at Ferrari of Houston on 6/25/1993. I rescued the car from storage 15+ years ago after the original owner was incarcerated. I now live at the beach fulltime and unfortunately she has returned to storage. I am selling because I have no place here at my new home to keep her. The 30k service was done at Ferrari of Atlanta approx. 7 years ago and the car has been driven VERY LITTLE since. The clear coat on the paint was a little cloudy so I had it professionally repainted at Foreign Car in Birmingham about 5 years ago. It was cosmetic paint only. The interior door panels & headliner have been professionally reupholstered. All interior instrument plastic trim panels got sticky (typical) and all have been replaced. A New set of tires installed 12/2011 have less than 100 miles on them. I have all factory manuals, the leather tool kit & all original documentation. This car has extremely low miles and can be a great toy for somebody. It's not a perfect car but she's in GREAT SHAPE for a 20+ years old exotic Italian Sports Car. She's A real survivor. CASH SALE ONLY. Being Sold AS IS with no warranty. This Car is for sale locally & I do reserve the right to end this auction at anytime for any reason. Call me with any questions 205-821-5212 David. Ask any questions you have before you bid. The Buyer is responsible for his own shipping and any inspection must be completed prior to the end of this auction. I have clear title in hand to the car and the vehicle or title will not be released until all funds have cleared/exchanged hands. Vehicle is located in Birmingham, Alabama. I do not need any assistance in selling the car.
Speciale's are x of 100 built.
"The car was limited to 100 examples (12 '92 models, and 88 '93 models) and was only sold in North America. The differences between the Serie Speciale and earlier 348s were as follows:
The front spoiler was redesigned for aerodynamics, now having a little reverse curve ahead of the front wheels, as well as a lip along the front edge that could be replaced after the inevitable ground scrapes became unsightly.
This spoiler was now body-colored, as was the rear skirt, rocker panels and front portion of the engine cover (all were matte black on older models). This is sometimes referred to "Speciale paint" in ads for older cars that have been repainted in this scheme.
The front grill was redesigned, and a chrome prancing horse was added where there was no horse on the front of earlier cars (a front license plate holder had occupied this space). The black horse on the rear grill of earlier models was changed to chrome, and, for what is probably the most distinguishing external feature of the 348 SS, the Testarossa-like slats covering the taillight assemblies were removed.
In the interior, the standard Frau seats were replaced with leather-covered Kevlar sports seats (although some customers specified the standard seats). The door panels were also redesigned and now in leather. The color of the leather on the doors and seats was coordinated with the carpet and roof liner. On the center console radio cover, the script that said "348 tb" (or ts) on the older cars was replaced by a small plate that read "Speciale tb" or "Speciale ts." There was also a special ID plate on the passenger door-post that listed the number in the series (i.e. No. 019 of 100) along with the engine and chassis s/n and the ts or tb designation.
The rear track was widened by 50mm from 1578mm to 1628mm by adding 25mm of offset to each wheel, and the final drive was shortened from 26/27 on the earlier cars to 25/29 on the SS. A taller fifth gear was fitted (early cars having p/n 70000592), to maintain top speed with the new lower main gear installed.
The SS had a new free-flow exhaust system credited with the car's quoted increase to 312 bhp (sometimes quoted as 320) from 300 bhp in the '89-'92 models. This is often called the "Spider exhaust" but it actually made its first appearance on the Speciale."

Road & Track names its 2013 Performance Car of the Year
Thu, 14 Nov 2013Road & Track recently staged its first annual Performance Car of the Year test, pitting 13 new and updated performance cars against each other on track, then graduating the top six to a road test before picking a winner. Additionally, the magazine staff picked the best automobiles of the year in eight categories.
But first, let's cover the PCotY segment. Here's the list of cars brought to the comparison test: Audi R8 V10 Plus; BMW 435i; BMW M6 Competition Package; Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Z51; Ferrari F12 Berlinetta; Ford Fiesta ST; Jaguar F-Type V8 S; Jaguar XFR-S; Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG S-Model Wagon; Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series; Mini John Cooper Works GP; Nissan GT-R Track Edition; and Porsche Cayman S.
To find out the results of the comparison, head over to Road & Track's website or check the press release below, where you'll also find the magazine's top-rated vehicles in eight categories. Want more? Head over to the 2013 PCotY hub. But before you do that, take a stab at guessing the winner of PCotY (we'll give you one hint: it isn't a Porsche).
Ferrari families have 'agreement' to prevent takeover
Thu, Oct 22 2015With its initial public offering already a massive success, Ferrari is now officially a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange. While anyone can buy those shares, don't expect investors to take control away from some of the top owners of the Prancing Horse anytime soon. To maintain their power, Enzo Ferrari's son, Piero, and Exor chairman John Elkann will sign a deal guaranteeing themselves nearly half of the automaker's voting rights, Bloomberg reports. As part of this arrangement, shareholders that agree to hang onto Ferrari stock for at least three years would receive additional voting rights in the company, and that would give Piero and Elkann a combined 48.7 percent of the automaker by banding together. While not quite complete control, the move should be enough to prevent a takeover of the business. "We have an agreement among the families to protect our interests in Ferrari," Piero said to Bloomberg. This agreement won't really become a concern until next year because only 10 percent of Ferrari will be traded for now. FCA will distribute another 80 percent to its shareholders in early 2016, and Elkann's Exor will be getting the largest portion of the Prancing Horse in the spin-off. Meanwhile, Piero holds the remaining 10 percent but has absolutely no intention to sell his stake in his father's business. The newly public Ferrari will push to grow volume with a goal of moving 9,000 vehicles annually by 2019. To reach that 30-percent boost, expect to see a new model every year, and some of them might use a new, modular platform that's reportedly under development. Related Video:
Why the Ferrari Testarossa deserves some respect
Wed, 13 Feb 2013Join us for a moment in putting on our way-back hats, zeroing in on the late 1980s. Imagine that you're in your bedroom. Look over at the wall across from your bed. What car do you see on the poster? If you're anything like us, it's a Lamborghini Countach - in fact, it's a trio of Lamborghini Countach models in an array of colors. Oh, and there's also a 1:18-scale diecast Countach in black sitting on our dresser with its scissor doors locked in a skyward embrace.
Of course, the Raging Bull wasn't Italy's only great supercar from the 1980s, especially if you cast your lot at the temple of the Prancing Horse. The Ferrari Testarossa, as pointed out in the latest video from Petrolicious, is an oft unsung hero penned from the stuff boyhood dreams are made of. Far from a *ahem* red-headed stepchild, the Testarossa deserves a place in the minds and hearts of '80s supercar fans the world over.
