This 1991 Ferrari 348tb was purchased from the Mercedes dealer in Hagerstown, MD, in November of 2007.  The car did not have any mechanical records at the time, but there are good records of the work done since then.

The exterior of the car is finished in "Corso Rosso" and was repainted sometime in 2007, shortly before the car was purchased.  The repaint was not done to Ferrari standards, but the paint itself is in good shape with some stone chips on the front and a spot over the front right wheel well that need touch up.  The four wheels are in very good condition.  The front tires are new (replaced at 40,578 miles).  The rear tires have good tread but are old and should not be trusted if racing the car.  The doors are solid but the passenger door could use a minor alignment adjustment.  The power windows work well, as an accelerator was installed in 2009 to speed up the notoriously slow window up/down process this model has become known for.

The interior is in average condition for a car of this age and mileage.  The dash vents have all been renovated as they were suffering from Ferrari's "sticky plastic" problem.  The carpet and mats show wear, but they are clean and without holes or stains.  The tan leather on the dash and doors in is great shape.  The seat leather does show some wear, particularly the driver's seat.  That seat has been "re-dyed" at some point in the past and you can tell that the dye is beginning to wear through and there are clear signs of age on the driver's bolster.  The headliner, both cloth and leather, is in great shape.

Mechanically, this car is in great shape.  The engine out belt service was executed at 40,214 miles by Ferrari of Washington shortly after purchase and the engine still screams today.  The clutch was worn when the car was purchased and a new clutch was installed at 40,783 miles.  The exhaust was also bad upon purchase and was replaced at 41,251 miles.  The A/C was completely rebuilt in June 2012.

Ferrari reveals pair of tailor-made specials in Shanghai

Fri, 20 Jun 2014

For most people, buying a new Ferrari - heck, even a used one - would be a special occasion all on its own, not to mention a rare privilege. But to make the experience all the more special, the Prancing Horse marque offers its Tailor-Made personalization program. The service just reached the Asia-Pacific region for the first time with the new Tailor-Made Centre in Shanghai, and to mark its inauguration, Ferrari has revealed two new special editions - both based on V12 GTs and inspired by horses - specifically for the Chinese market.
First up is the F12 Berlinetta Polo Edition pictured above. The special F12 is distinguished by a white and blue theme, the exterior decked out in Bianco Italia Opaco (read: fancy white) with navy blue offset racing stripes, and the interior carrying an inverse take on the same featuring dark blue leather upholstering with white stitching, stripes and trim.
Those looking for more traction and versatility might be more intrigued by the FF Dressage Edition. The four-seat, four-wheel special gets a piano black exterior and a reddish saddle brown leather interior with grid-pattern stitching (pictured inset at right).

Ferrari return to Le Mans looking more likely?

Wed, 18 Dec 2013

Statements made by Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo may indicate that the Italian brand could return to a form of racing it's been absent from for 40 years - prototype racing. That's right, LMP1 could see a factory Ferrari team for the first time since 1973, if a report from ESPN F1 is to be believed.
"We have won with the 458 GTE, but I also quite like the idea of racing at Le Mans in the highest category: who knows, maybe one day we can return and win, say thanks and come home," Montezemolo said. "Maybe we should give it some consideration..."
These seemingly idle, off-hand comments might not hold much water, were rumors about Ferrari's return to prototype racing not swirling as recently as August. There's also the fact that the upcoming, 1.6-liter, turbocharged V6 being used for Formula One complies with the Automobile Club de l'Ouest's own LMP1 regulations, according to ESPN. Finally, Ferrari returning to Le Mans might also explain this video of a camouflaged Ferrari LaFerrari testing a new turbocharged engine, which we showed you a few weeks back. There's a fair chance that what we're actually seeing in that video are the early stages of a new Ferrari prototype testing.
