This magnificent rolling work of art and engineering tour de force currently located in Casa Grande, Arizona, is Calspyder's  breath-taking recreation of a '1959-'63 Ferr@ri GT 250 C@lifornia Spyder.  It was built by Dr. Mike Renucci, PhD.(eng.), who was the former head of Jaguar when it was a subsidiary of Ford Motor Company. Completed in late 2010, the car has only 2500 miles and it was previously prominently featured in Kit Car Magazine as the "SUPER SPYDER". It is the most powerful, fast, luxurious, and sophisticated GT that Calspyder has built to date. Any original Ferrari GT 250 Spyder that was built back in the early 1960's is now rightly a museum piece worth millions. Less than 50 are known to still exist. The original version's power plant  was a 3.0 L, 240-260 hp, SOHC V-12 engine with down-draft Webers. Despite the beautiful lines penned by Pinninfarina at the time, the original version was not really considered to be a technologically sophisticated vehicle, even when first introduced. The original GT 250 had many significant mechanical limitations if one were to compare it to a contemporary competitor from the same era, such as Jaguar's superlative XKE. The original GT 250 was hampered by a solid live rear axle, a 4-speed NON-synchromesh transmission, 4 wheel drum brakes, and it even had an imprecise worm and sector steering gear. This Super Spyder now for sale is mechanically superior to the original version in every conceivable way, but at only a fraction of the cost. This car is docile when driven judiciously, but it is VERY FAST. During engineering tests conducted in Arizona, it was confirmed that THE SUPER SPYDER WAS FASTER THAN A ZR1 IN THE QUARTER MILE AND TOP END!

The Super Spyder has the following special features:

- VIN 124BS10043340

-560bhp, 427cid, fuel injected, Windsor block, Smeding engine with roller rockers and cam.

-Oversize aluminum racing radiator.

-4 wheel disc brakes.

-Rack and Pinion steering gear.

-Richmond Gear Racing Super 5 speed (with Overdrive).

-2.47 rear gear for ULTRA-HIGH SPEED HIGHWAY CRUISING and 20 mpg on highway.

-Independent rear suspension  by C.W.I. with inboard rear discs.

-Bullet proof integrated 9 inch limited slip pumpkin.

-Air conditioned with R-2 coolant and modern Sanden compressor.

-Beautiful wood dash accents.

-True pin drive knock-off wire wheels, including spare which is mounted in the trunk.

-Period correct gauges, including H20 temp, oil pressure, oil temp, voltmeter, fuel, etc.

-Striking medium metallic blue paint. This beautiful color was a period correct option.

-Period correct leather seats and dash.

-Modern retractable seat belts.

-Windshield wipers with washer

-Wilton wool carpets.

-Detailed trunk and engine compartment.

-AM/FM/ CD stereo. (You can understand "the why" when I tell you I've NEVER turned it on!)

-Electric lift antennae.

-Electric lift windows.

-Passenger side glove box

-Perfectly working canvas top.

-Integrated Battery Tender with trunk plug in (all you need is an extension cord)

-Complete, correct, period Ferr@ri and Pinnin badges.

Spring time is approaching and now's the time to get the convertible and enjoy the season.  The only reason I'm selling is because we have a Tesla Model S being delivered and we have too many toys for the space available.  We've loved this car and want it to go to a great home.   Please feel free to email me or call if you have questions or would like to come preview the car.  77O-5 nine 5-four 387.  The Odo has stuck at 899 miles however we've put about 2500 total miles on it.  Oil was done last month and Transmission Fluid done 3 tanks of gas ago.  Serious inquiries only. Seller reserves right to end item early as it is also for sale locally.

Deposit of $1000 is due upon winning auction with balance due before taking delivery of the vehicle.  I'm happy to help with coordinating shipping however shipping is the buyers responsibility.  I have a couple of recommendations if needed.

Fangio's Ferrari sells for $28 million in New York [w/videos]

Mon, Dec 14 2015

See this Ferrari? It just set the record as the most valuable automobile sold at auction this year. It's a 1956 Ferrari 290 MM driven by the legendary Juan Manuel Fangio, and it sold last weekend in New York for an astonishing $28.05 million. The speedster was built for Fangio to drive in the 1956 Mille Miglia – the last time the Argentinian would enter the race, which was shut down as a competitive event the following year. But before chassis number 0626 was retired, it was driven by such legends as Phil Hill, Alfonso de Portago, and Wolfgang von Trips. Ferrari only made four examples, and between its provenance and its pristine condition – it never crashed – this 290 managed to exceed its pre-sale estimate. In the process, 0626 powered its way into the record books as the most expensive car sold at auction in 2015, the most valuable that RM has ever handled, and the highest price ever paid for a vehicle in New York City. In fact the only cars ever sold at auction for more than this one were another Ferrari (the 250 GTO that Bonhams sold last year for $35 million) and another of Fangio's racers (the Mercedes W196 also sold by Bonhams for $29.6 million in 2013). Though Fangio's Ferrari was far and away the top lot of the day, it wasn't the only multi-million-dollar automobile sold as part of RM Sotheby's Driven by Disruption auction. A 1962 Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato set a new record for British automobiles at $14.3 million. A Ferrari 250 GT Series I Cabriolet sold for $5.7 million, a Pierce-Arrow Silver Arrow went for $3.7 million, and another Ferrari 250 Europa sold for $3.3 million – as did Floyd Mayweather's Enzo. A '72 Lamborghini Miura SV fetched $2.4 million, and Janis Joplin's Porsche 356 set a new record for its type and well exceeded expectations at $1.7 million. All told, the event generated a massive $73.5 million in sales, of which the Fangio Ferrari alone accounted for over a third. This content is hosted by a third party. The sunniest Ferrari collection you've ever seen, shot for Forza mag

Sat, 30 Aug 2014

There's a stable of about 40 beautiful prancing horses hiding in a Tennessee garage. These thoroughbreds aren't out to win the next Triple Crown, though. Instead, this is one of the best collections of Ferraris in the world where you would probably least expect it.
Photographer and auto journalist Clint Davis went there to write a story about collector Phil Bachman for the Ferrari-focused Forza magazine, and he took some dazzling photographs to go along with his words. At the same time, he brought along a friend to film their day meeting Bachman and his sublime collection.
Amassing this many sensational vehicles would be amazing anyway, but Bachman takes his Ferrari obsession even further. He prefers to get his cars in yellow and tries to get the last production example of a given model. In fact, he already has a reservation for the final LaFerrari. You can probably figure out in what color. Keep your eyes open here for glimpses of a plethora of vintage beauties, but the star of the show might be a yellow FXX.

Ferrari LaFerrari is beautifully redundant

Tue, 05 Mar 2013

The successor the Ferrari Enzo has officially bowed. Ferrari pulled the sheets back on the oddly named LaFerrari at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, calling the machine the "maximum expression" of what defines the automaker. In this case, that includes a 6.3-liter V12 engine with 789 horsepower married to a 160-hp electric motor. The combination is good for a full 949 hp and 663 pound-feet of torque, and Ferrari says the LaFerrari can punch to 62 miles per hour in under three seconds. Keep your foot planted and 124 mph will click by in a scant seven seconds, while top speed sits at a lofty 205 mph.
Engineers turned to a total of four different types of hand-laminatated carbon fiber to create a chassis that's both stiffer and lighter than would have otherwise been possible. With a 41/59 weight distribution, carbon-ceramic brakes and ultra-light calipers, the LaFerrari is unlike anything we've seen from the company to date. The automaker says its creation is the fastest in its long history. You can take a look at the in-depth press release below for more information, and be sure to check out the model's new site here.
