Dodge Viper Copperhead 2005

This Viper is my personal weekend driver. The specifications are listed below. If you would like to discuss any of the details further, call 908 930 3536

The 2005 Dodge Viper is available in one SRT-10 model. The Copperhead edition was limited to a production of only 300 vehicles. The finish of the car is indicative of the low mileage. The sunburst color looks amazing when the sunlight hits it. There is nothing mechanically wrong with the car. The only issue is a slight fadeing of the driver side seat bolster leather which is slightly worn. if this a great bother, the leather in that area can be dyed. I have added a picture. I'm being picky but as most buyers are. I also replaced he factory exhaust with a Borla exhaust and removed the catalytic convertors. I wanted a more throaty sound and more efficient performance. Removing the catas reduces the heat and makes for a cooler compartmentl.

Interior Features
At the center of the action is the driver. This is evident throughout the cockpit, which features a performance-oriented, highly functional instrument panel with a center-mounted tachometer and a 220-mph speedometer.

As mentioned, there are no options. Standard features include air conditioning, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, power-adjustable pedals, leather/faux-suede upholstery, power mirrors, windows and door locks, remote keyless entry and an AM/FM radio with in-dash 6-disc CD player.

The Copperhead Edition featured black leather and orange suede with orange stitched "Viper" on the headrest.

Exterior Features
Advanced materials such as resin injection molded (RIM) and sheet-molded composite (SMC) panels are used extensively to reduce road and engine noise. A true convertible, the Dodge Viper top is a bi-fold design with a single center latch on the windshield header.

The 2005 Dodge Viper SRT-10 rides on forged aluminum, polished 18" x 10" front and 19" x 13" rear wheels, clad in Michelin zero pressure run-flat tires. Each tire includes low-pressure sensors in the valve stems.

The Viper also has Xenon high- and low-beam headlamps. For 2005 the Copperhead Orange color was introduced with a black cloth top.

Performance
The heart of the Viper is an aluminum-block 8.3-liter V10 engine. It can generate an incredible 500 horsepower and 525 lb-ft of torque-90 percent of the torque available in the 1500-to-5600 rpm range.

Transferring the Viper's power to the rear wheels is a heavy-duty 6-speed manual transmission. It has a short-throw shifter so that you can get up to speed very, very quickly.

Further features aiding the Viper's performance include four-wheel independent suspension featuring lightweight, high-performance aluminum control arms and knuckles, damped by lightweight coil-over shock absorbers. A Dana 44-4 Hydra-Lok speed-sensing limited-slip differential is also standard.

Safety and Security
The Viper uses 14-inch brake rotors gripped by Brembo 44/40 dual opposing piston calipers in the front and Brembo 42/38 dual opposing calipers in the rear. This system results in a world-class braking performance of 60 mph to zero in less than 100 feet.

FCA CEO Mike Manley will run Americas for Stellantis after PSA merger

Sun, Dec 20 2020

DETROIT — Fiat Chrysler CEO Mike Manley will run operations in the Americas when his company merges with FranceÂ’s PSA Peugeot early next year. FCA Chairman John Elkann announced ManleyÂ’s new post on Friday in a letter to employees. ManleyÂ’s role in the merged company had been a mystery. PSA CEO Carlos Tavares will run the overall company, to be named Stellantis. Shareholders of both companies will vote on the merger Jan. 4 to seal the deal creating the worldÂ’s fourth-largest automaker. The merger is expected to be completed by the end of March. PSA will get six seats on the new companyÂ’s 11-member board, which will be chaired by Elkann. The Americas, especially the U.S., are key to the new companyÂ’s success. Fiat ChryslerÂ’s Jeep and Ram brands are highly profitable, and Tavares has long wanted to sell PSA vehicles in the U.S. Manley has been the Italian-American automakerÂ’s CEO for 2 1/2 years, taking over when Sergio Marchionne died in 2018. Stellantis will have the capacity to produce 8.7 million cars a year, just behind Volkswagen, the Renault-Nissan alliance and Toyota. Hypermiling a Ram 1500 EcoDiesel to 38.1 mpg

Fri, May 9 2014

You never quite know what Wayne Gerdes has up his sleeve. The man who coined the term hypermiling is always looking for adventurous ways to prove that anyone – even you... yes, you – can eke out more miles per gallon just by changing the way you drive. Saying that is easy. Proving it by going on outlandish cross-country drives is hard. But for Gerdes and his team of fuel economy fiends over at CleanMPG, hard is half the fun. Our latest adventure appeared, at first glance, to be nearly impossible. Which is why we always answer the phone when Gerdes calls. He likes to take journalists along on his drives, not only to try teach us how to hypermile but also to prove that we can be taught. The first time I 'helped' him and his team was when we got over 30 miles per gallon in a 2011 Ford F-150 XLT with the EcoBoost 3.5-liter V6. The EPA rated that truck with at just 16 mpg in the city and 22 on the highway. So, we'll count that trip as a success. Next up was a cross-country drive last fall in a trio of Audi TDI vehicles to prove that you don't need to drive extra slow to beat the EPA numbers. In fact, we made it from Los Angeles to New York City in just over 46 hours, cramped but not cranky. We had once again proven that how you drive is hugely important to your fuel usage. Our latest adventure appeared, at first glance, to be nearly impossible. The EPA says that the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel we would be driving gets just 22 combined mpg (19 city and 27 highway). Gerdes' idea was to drive it as far north from Houston, TX towards Detroit, MI as we could go on one tank. The day before we left, our itinerary got an extra stop. Instead of taking one of the official Shell Eco-marathon prototype vehicles to Detroit, it was decided to bring the winning diesel-powered prototype from the just-finished event to The Henry Ford Museum, where it had been arranged the car would be displayed. The winning car was built by a small team (just four students) from Sullivan High School in Sullivan, IN, who managed to beat a number of college teams with a score of 1,899.32 mpg. That target would be a bit out of reach for the Ram, but could we get 1,000 miles from the tank? Since the truck has a 26 gallon tank (officially, anyway), that would mean the EPA says we could only go 702 miles, assuming all highway driving. Could we make up 300 miles with careful driving? That spells both challenge and fun.

NHTSA, IIHS, and 20 automakers to make auto braking standard by 2022

Thu, Mar 17 2016

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and virtually every automaker in the US domestic market have announced a pact to make automatic emergency braking standard by 2022. Here's the full rundown of companies involved: BMW, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, Tesla, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Volvo (not to mention the brands that fall under each automaker's respective umbrella). Like we reported yesterday, AEB will be as ubiquitous in the future as traction and stability control are today. But the thing to note here is that this is not a governmental mandate. It's truly an agreement between automakers and the government, a fact that NHTSA claims will lead to widespread adoption three years sooner than a formal rule. That fact in itself should prevent up to 28,000 crashes and 12,000 injuries. The agreement will come into effect in two waves. For the majority of vehicles on the road – those with gross vehicle weights below 8,500 pounds – AEB will need to be standard equipment by September 1, 2022. Vehicles between 8,501 and 10,000 pounds will have an extra three years to offer AEB. "It's an exciting time for vehicle safety. By proactively making emergency braking systems standard equipment on their vehicles, these 20 automakers will help prevent thousands of crashes and save lives," said Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx said in an official statement. "It's a win for safety and a win for consumers." Read on for the official press release from NHTSA. Automakers making the commitment are Audi, BMW, FCA US LLC, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Maserati, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan, Porsche, Subaru, Tesla Motors Inc., Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo Car USA.
