2007 Dodge Sprinter CRD Van
-121,871 original miles, one owner -CRD model, equipped with 3.0 liter V6 Mercedes Benz turbo diesel, automatic transmission -Van would average 17.5 mpg loaded at 10,000lbs combined vehicle and payload weight. -Includes OSHA screen with pass through door, large tool chest, shelving including drawers, wire rack, and refrigerant cylinder racks by Adrian steel. (as pictured) -Truck runs like a champ, starts easily in cold weather, runs and drives quietly, uses no oil, and the air conditioning blows cold. -Tires are all approximately 30 percent tread remaining -Only damage to the truck is the dent in the bottom of the passengers door, that does not effect the door closing properly, or sealing (road noise, etc..) -Truck was equipped with essentially every power option at the time, power windows, power locks, power mirrors, back up assitant, AM-FM, CD player, cruise control, seats with adjustable lumbar and headrest, MPG calculator, on dash maintenance reminder, remote tire pressure monitoring, as well as steering wheel controls for changing radio stations, volume, viewing vitals and information such as fuel economy, and maintenance information while you are driving. Overall in very clean shape for a 7 year old work van. -Original owners payed $47,000.00 for this van with the accessories as pictured. -Interior, engine compartment, and cargo area is in nice condition for a 7 year old work van, as is the glass, etc. -Please see all pictures for an accurate representation of the true condition of this vehicle. Feel free to ask any questions, as I would like whomever purchases this vehicle to see exactly what they are getting. -Truck taken out of service after visiting dealership and receiving a diagnosis that a repair other than preventative maintenance was needed after the vehicle was schedule to be replaced due to its age. I purchased the vehicle thinking of using the drivetrain for a street rod project I am working on, but just have too many projects at this point. This would be an excellent truck to make several repairs to, and put back into service for many years. The condition of the vehicle is nice overall, and it includes all of the tool storage and shelving options someone would need to use it without any additional investment. I drove this vehicle from the dealership when I purchased it, and therefor can represent its issues as accurately as possible. Was being used every day until late last fall. -Includes original owners manual, and 2 sets of key fob style remote keyless entry keys THE BAD NEWS -The truck has a fault code for the brake force distribution, which prevents the operator from driving the vehicle beyond second gear. -The rear door latch is missing the lower striker plate, was borrowed off this vehicle to keep an active vehicle in the fleet rolling. both of these issues could be easily rectified, and the truck returned to active service. This is very low mileage for the powertrain in one of these vehicles, most commonly making it in excess of 300,000 miles. |

Dodge and Jeep recalling 895k SUVs for possibility of headliner fires
Fri, 11 Jul 2014Dodge and Jeep are announcing recalls of a total of 895,000 Durango and Grand Cherokee models worldwide from the 2011 through 2014 model years. There's a possibility that the wiring in the sun visor can short circuit and cause a fire. It specifically affects vehicles built between January 5, 2010, and December 11, 2013, and there are approximately 651,000 of them in the US, 45,700 in Canada, 23,000 in Mexico and 175,000 outside of North America.
Screws that fasten the sunvisor to the headliner may pierce wires in the visor, if the part has been removed or serviced, potentially causing a fire risk. If the wires short circuit, they could overheat and potentially combust. The automakers report three injuries caused by this defect, and according to the investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, "there may be a total of 52 unique fire incidents."
To fix the problem, Dodge and Jeep will inspect the vehicles for suspect wiring, and all of the models, whether damaged or not, will get a new sun visor spacer with a wire guide to stop the possibility of short circuits. According to the automakers' announcement, "this condition is not present in vehicles which have not had the headliner or vanity mirror serviced." They will notify affected owners, and repairs will begin in August.
The Dodge Demon gets a Drag Mode and a lesson in Newtonian physics
Thu, Feb 23 2017It's Thursday morning, which means we have more news on the upcoming Dodge Demon, the pumped-up Challenger Hellcat variant that's looking to cause mayhem at a drag strip near you. This week's video, "Third Law," shows the Demon's revised suspension in action and displays another one of SRT's cryptic messages. Dodge claims that the 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi V8 in the Hellcat twins is compromised because it's fitted to a car that needs to be comfortable on the street in addition to a performer on the drag strip. Not so with the Demon, as Dodge says the car is "designed to be highly competent in all drive modes and configurations," including the all-new Drag Mode. Dodge says details about the new mode will trickle out over the next few weeks, but all the info this week focused on suspension. The "Third Law" in this week's title refers to Isaac Newton and motion: "When one body exerts a force on a second body, the second body simultaneously exerts a force equal in magnitude and opposite in direction on the first body." We're not sure what Newton would have thought seeing the sidewall wrinkling Nitto NT05R drag radials in action, but he'd probably have a reaction of some sort himself. An ideal suspension setup for the drag strip makes for a poor setup on the road. As Dodge puts it, the "old school" way to set up a drag car was to "get the quickest reacting springs upfront, the softest rebound front shocks that wouldn't restrict the springs' reaction, remove any restrictions (sway bar) and increase the compression of the rear shocks." This would give a car great front to rear weight transfer but made for very poor lateral direction control, meaning minor corrections were difficult. The Demon's Drag Mode will use electronics to give the car the best combination of launch and lateral stability. Dodge listed some of the parts to help aid in this goal. They also gave us a few equations that we can't make sense of. Let us know if you have any clues. Hardware: 35 percent lower rate front springs/28 percent lower rate rear springs 75 percent lower rate hollow front sway bar/44 percent lower rate rear sway bar Drag-tuned Bilstein Adaptive Damping Shocks Software: Rear = F/F and Front = F/S F/F – F/S maintained @ wide open throttle (WOT) F/F – F/F < WOT Traction control disabled/ESC maintained Result: 13.5=575@500 Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. Stellantis invests more than $100 million in California lithium project
Thu, Aug 17 2023Stellantis said it would invest more than $100 million in California's Controlled Thermal Resources, its latest bet on the direct lithium extraction (DLE) sector amid the global hunt for new sources of the electric vehicle battery metal. The investment by the Chrysler and Jeep parent announced on Thursday comes as the green energy transition and U.S. Inflation Reduction Act have fueled concerns that supplies of lithium and other materials may fall short of strong demand forecasts. DLE technologies vary, but each aims to mechanically filter lithium from salty brine deposits and thus avoid the need for open pit mines or large evaporation ponds, the two most common but environmentally challenging ways to extract the battery metal. Stellantis, which has said half of its fleet will be electric by 2030, also agreed to nearly triple the amount of lithium it will buy from Controlled Thermal, boosting a previous order to 65,000 metric tons annually for at least 10 years, starting in 2027. "This is a significant investment and goes a long way toward developing this key project," Controlled Thermal CEO Rod Colwell said in an interview. The company plans to spend more than $1 billion to separate lithium from superhot geothermal brines extracted from beneath California's Salton Sea after flashing steam off those brines to spin turbines that will produce electricity starting next year. That renewable power is expected to cut the amount of carbon emitted during lithium production. Rival Berkshire Hathaway has struggled to produce lithium from the same area given large concentrations of silica in the brine that can form glass when cooled, clogging pipes. Colwell said a $65 million facility recently installed by Controlled Thermal can remove that silica and other unwanted metals. DLE equipment licensed from Koch Industries would then remove the lithium. "We're very happy with the equipment," he said. "We're going to deliver. There's just no doubt about it." Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares called the Controlled Thermal partnership "an important step in our care for our customers and our planet as we work to provide clean, safe and affordable mobility." Both companies declined to provide the specific investment amount. Controlled Thermal aims to obtain final permits by October and start construction of a commercial lithium plant soon thereafter, Colwell said. Goldman Sachs is leading the search for additional debt and equity financing, he added.
