I am selling my 2004 Dodge Ram 3500 SLT Diesel Pickup. I bought this truck new and am the only owner, so I know the entire history. If you have any questions, just ask. Here are the basics:

Year 2004
Single wheel 3500 (looks like 2500)
248,000 miles. Daily driver, so will have around 249,000 by the time the auction is over.
2wd
4 door
Black
Automatic transmission rebuilt at 234,000
3:73 rear end
5.9L HO Cummins engine
2-5/16 5th wheel ball
Spray in bed liner
6 way plug for trailer lights
New Michelin tires ($1000) - less than 5,000 miles
non-smoker
Great mileage. 18+ mpg to and from work. 21+ on highway.

Here are the negatives: Truck has a dent under the left rear tail light from jack-knifing a trailer. Cruise control works on flat ground, but kicks out on hills and won't come back on until the truck is restarted. I think it is not holding a vacuum, but I haven't been able to track down the leak. The driver side visor won't stay all the way up. The vents make noise on the passenger side floorboard when turning the heater on.

Positives: I have never had any major mechanical trouble with the truck at all. No injector issues, oil leaks, computer issues, etc. It has been very dependable. I would not hesitate to drive it cross country. Oil has been changed every 5,000 miles. I have done maintenance myself on brakes, rotors, shocks, belts, etc. on an as needed basis. The interior is very clean compared to most of the Dodge interiors I have seen from this generation. The seat is not torn from getting in and out, no cracks on the dash, and the armrest doesn't have a hole in it.

And the best part of all is that the truck is converted to run on diesel or veggie oil with a system that I bought from Golden Fuel Systems. The system was installed at 117,000 miles. I have an auxiliary fuel tank that is about 60 gallons to hold the oil. There is a heat exchanger in the tank plumbed to the water pump that circulates antifreeze to warm up the oil. Once it's up to operating temperature, flip the switch and burn straight vegetable oil. The system includes a Racor filter, auxiliary fuel pump, auxiliary fuel gauge, and fuel pressure gauge to monitor when the filters need to be changed. When I first converted I had trouble with the stock fuel lift pump, so it now has a heavy duty FASS pump. I will include the collection pump and storage barrels with the sale and if you are local I can try to hook you up with the place where I currently get my oil from. The system has worked great for me and I estimate I have saved over $10k in fuel costs using it.

I am only selling because I will be moving to snow country soon and will need a 4 wheel drive. If you have any questions, I can be reached at 225-two 7 eight - one 2 three 2.

Dodge Viper to out-Hell the Hellcat with supercharged V10?

Wed, 20 Aug 2014

The Viper wouldn't be the Viper if it wasn't the most powerful model under the Chrysler umbrella. But with the arrival of the Hellcat engine in the Dodge Charger and Challenger, the Viper has fallen behind in the bragging rights department: where the new supercharged V8 produces 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, the naturally aspirated V10 offers "only" 640 hp and 600 lb-ft - gargantuan output figures by almost any other standard, but crucially behind on the SRT power scale. Conner Avenue is going to have to do something about that.
Although the Hellcat's engine reportedly won't fit under the Viper's hood, SRT is now rumored to have another trick up its sleeve: supercharge the existing V10. According to the Pentastar performance enthusiasts at allpar.com, Chrysler has already taken delivery of the first such prototype engines so that it can begin the process of fitting it into an upgraded Viper.
The spooled ten-pot is tipped to produce around 800 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. More than that and the Viper's drivetrain, chassis and bodywork would have to be substantially reworked. Though beefier transmissions are available, fitting them would reportedly set off a domino-game of changes required to handle the added torque. Which may be something Chrysler would be prepared to do for the next-generation model, but in the meantime, 800 hp could prove enough to put the Viper back atop the Mopar performance ladder where it belongs, and give it an edge against the new Corvette Z06 to rekindle sales.

For his last act, Marchionne will outline an EV/hybrid roadmap this week

Wed, May 30 2018

MILAN/LONDON — Fiat Chrysler (FCA) boss Sergio Marchionne is expected to outline new plans for electric and hybrid cars in a strategy presentation on Friday, aiming to ensure the world's seventh-largest carmaker remains in the race in the absence of a merger. The 65-year-old will present FCA's strategy to 2022, his final contribution to the company he turned around and multiplied in value through 14 years of canny dealmaking. After failing to secure a tie-up he said was necessary to manage the costs of producing cleaner vehicles, Marchionne needs to show the group can keep churning out profits on its own, even as emissions rules tighten, SUV competition intensifies and worries around his succession abound. Marchionne had long refused to jump on the electrification bandwagon, saying he would only do so if selling battery-powered cars could be done at a profit. He even urged customers not to buy FCA's Fiat 500e, its only battery-powered model, because he was losing money on each sold. But Tesla's success and the need to comply with tougher emissions rules have forced Marchionne to commit to what he calls "most painful" spending. "FCA is way behind rivals in terms of hybrid and electric vehicles and they need to hit the accelerator to convince investors they can close that gap," said Andrea Pastorelli, a fund manager at 8a+ Investimenti. Germany's Volkswagen, Daimler, BMW and U.S. rivals GM and Ford have committed to spending billions of euros each in coming years to try produce profitable cars powered by cleaner fuels. FCA needs to present a clear roadmap, just like Volvo Cars, which ditched diesel from its best-selling XC60 SUV, launched a new electric brand and pledged to shift all brands to hybrid by 2019, a banking source close to FCA said, noting: "The tech divide determines winners and losers in the industry." Marchionne has already said half of the wider FCA fleet will incorporate some elements of electrification by 2022, while luxury marque Maserati will spearhead FCA's electrification drive by making all new models due after 2019 electric. But its plans remain vaguer and less advanced than most big rivals and some investors wonder about the capital required to make vehicles compliant, and what share of spending can go to electrification given FCA's numerous demands.

Say goodbye to the Dodge Dart and Chrysler 200

Wed, Jan 27 2016

Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne outlined an update to the company's five-year business plan Wednesday, and among the changes, the Dodge Dart and Chrysler 200 sedans will soon be phased out. The company's presentation to investors states that the "market shift from cars to trucks and UVs [utility vehicles is] now seen as permanent shift in demand," and FCA wants to respond as quickly as possible. Killing the 200 and Dart will allow FCA to build more Jeep and Ram models at the Sterling Heights, MI, and Belvidere, IL, plants where the sedans were produced. We already knew FCA was planning to shift 200 and Dart production to Mexico, to free up the Sterling Heights facility for Ram 1500 production, and the Belivdere site for Jeep Cherokee output. The Cherokee will move from its current home in Toledo, OH, to allow for increased Wrangler production. It's no shock that FCA wants to shift its focus to crossovers and trucks. In December 2015, for example, combined sales of the Dodge Dart and Chrysler 200 were 15,310. The Jeep Cherokee, which uses the same platform as the Dart and 200, outsold both models combined, with 24,049 sales. Both the Dart and 200 had troubles from the beginning. Marchionne recently blamed designers for the 200 not receiving a Consumer Reports 'recommended' rating, and the Dart was one of the lowest-scoring cars in a CR reliability study.
