1983 Dodge Prospector Crew Cab Short Bed 4x4 Cummins Turbo Diesel!!! on 2040-cars
Henderson, Nevada, United States
Hello Everyone,
Up for sale is a rare factory 1983 Dodge CREW CAB 4x4 short bed with a Cummins motor conversion. The truck has been a west coast truck for its entire life so it is rust free! This truck started life back in 1983 with a gas motor. i sought this truck out for it to become what you see today. This has been my pride and joy for the last 10 years. I have spent many hours getting it to this awesome condition. I started with a Cummins motor out of 1992 Dodge Ram that had approximately 120,000 miles on it (Just barley broken in for these awesome motors) I used the motor, core support and inter cooler from the 1992 and I installed a new radiator. Nothing was cut to install this motor in to this truck. The motor does have some upgrades including 3200 governor spring, fuel pump turned up, HX35 turbo and a custom air intake. The motor was mated with an automatic torque flight 518 with over drive which was rebuilt at time of install. The transmission has a shift kit and a deep pan. The Transfer case is a divorced 205 (very desirable t-case) Axles are Dana 60's front and rear with 4:10 gears The truck is sitting on 20 inch black alloy wheels wrapped in Good Year Wranglers E rated 275/65/r20 The truck has been recently painted inside and out. It was originally white and red and received a full color change to a bright beautiful red! There was no major body work done on this truck. A few emblems were taken off and the holes welded and filled in but this truck is SOLID under the pretty paint. The Interior was in pretty good shape and the seats are original but I did replace the carpet. The front doors have factory power windows and the back is manual just how it came from the factory. The weather stripping was replaced around all 4 doors and the window stripping. The interior accessories include a Kenwood cd player , Pyrometer and boost gauge! The truck is equipped with a goose neck hitch as well as a reciever hitch on the back. Perfect for towing a boat or hotrods. maybe some more Cummins trucks :) This truck does run and drive really well!! This truck is a rare and is definitely a head turner. You will get at least one person a week asking about it (at least I do) It does need some finishing touches to make it 100% perfect. The Ac has a small leak and it has to be recharged. The cruise control will need to be hooked up if you so desire. The potential of this truck is almost limitless. The Cummins motor is unstoppable. This truck will get 20 mpg if you are nice to it. Additional Info This truck is listed locally and I have the right to end the auction at any time, I am open to all offers and will return any emails OCONNELLRB@YAHOO.COM buyer pays all shipping fees and I will help the buyer or transport load the truck up. If you would like additional pictures i can email them to you. I am not desperate to sell so please no low baller emails. I can deliver for a fee if you live with in a few hundred miles of Las Vegas, NV. Location will determine price if you would like me to deliver. No warranty on the truck. All sales final. No checks accepted! Will only accept bank wire transfer, good Money Order or CASH. Truck will not ship until all funds are cleared through my bank and in my hand. Dodge to reveal Hellcat-powered Challenger in Detroit?
Fri, 10 Jan 2014On top of all the other performance car debuts slated for next week's Detroit Auto Show, we might be able to add one more to the list - the new, supercharged Hellcat V8 from Chrysler. According to new reports, the rumored 640-horsepower mill is likely to cross the Motor City stage in the engine bay of a Dodge Challenger.
As AllPar points out, though, there may be more news than just the fire-breathing engine. While we've seen spy photos of the Hellcat testing under the hood of the current Challenger, there's a very fair chance that it won't arrive until the muscle car is refreshed later this year. The question now is whether that refresh will be shown off alongside the new engine in Detroit, or if it'll be saved, perhaps for the New York Auto Show.
Other details dug up by AllPar include potential transmissions for the supercharged engine - the Mopar-minded site is expecting an eight-speed automatic or a Tremec six-speed manual. Prices, meanwhile, could be in the same elevated range as the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, at $70,000 to $80,000.
I sold my Viper, but the memories I'll keep
Thu, 30 May 2013The following is written by auto industry veteran Tow Kowaleski. The words are his own, but the memories now belong to everyone thanks to his willingness to share. If you're an industry veteran with a story to share, contact us at tipsATautoblogDOTcom.
It became the flame that started the fire of belief in the next life of Chrysler.
I just sold a car. Nothing new. Millions do it every day. But my car was a 1995 Dodge Viper, so maybe it was a bit more unique since just 12,000 were built. And like others selling a car that's been a part of the family for close to 20 years, this was a confluence of emotions for me. I was sad to see it go, but happy to have the cash and one less big, shiny, under-utilized object in my life.
Only in Japan: Dodge van one-make racing series is a thing
Wed, Jul 15 2015Japan seems willing to embrace a level of automotive insanity that many other places lack. Whether it's 1,200-horsepower Nissan GT-Rs blasting through tight, tree-lined mountain roads or advertisements with dances for the Toyota Prius Plug-in, the country definitely has a unique way of expressing a love for autos. The D-Van Grand Prix might be one of our favorite examples yet of crazy Japanese car culture, because the annual, one-make race at the Ebisu Circuit is exclusively for heavily customized Dodge vans. Like many great things, this wonderfully crazy idea came from a little rule breaking. D-Van Grand Prix organizer Takuro Abe was at a track event for a motorcycle racing school, and vans were used to haul the bikes around. During lunch someone came up with the idea for a race. Ignoring that the big machines weren't actually allowed on the circuit, the drivers headed out. The popularity has just grown since then. These days, the racing vans absolutely aren't the stock machines from the event's inspiration. In addition to stripped interiors and track rubber that you might expect, the list of mods for them is a mile long. For every possible advantage, the racers fit them with things like Brembo brakes, cross-drilled rotors, heavy-duty transmissions, and much more. Seeing vans lumbering around the track is very weird at first, but the racers take the competition very seriously. These folks even employ all sorts of little tricks to coax the most from the machines. This is a fascinating motorsports story, but be sure to turn on the subtitles to understand the interviews with the competitors.
