5.9 L. Cummins Turbo Diesel, Under 35 K Miles, Slt Lone Star Package on 2040-cars

Year:2006 Mileage:34722
Location:

Fulshear, Texas, United States

I'm the original owner, took possession with 8 miles on the ODO. This truck has never been wrecked, off road, in high water, never seen snow or salt, never towed anything, never smoked in and has never had any tuner boxes or engine mods installed. All major maintenance or repairs have been done by a local Dodge dealer. The only things I have done to the truck is install a leveling kit in front, replaced the stock shocks with Bilstein 5100 series shocks,  installed Westin stainless steel tube steps, and  replaced the stock tires with BF Goodrich  All Terrain T/A KO LT 285 / 70 R17 E1 tires. The speedometer has been calibrated to the larger tire size. I replaced the factory radio with a Kenwood KDC MP2035 cd receiver, the door speakers were replaced with Infinity Kappa component speakers, and a Sound Ordinance 125 watt powered subwoofer is mounted under the driver seat. The interior is clean, with no rips, tears, stains or cracked plastic parts. There are a few small stains and chips in the paint, very few and very small, too small to come through in the pictures. It has a spray in bed liner that's in very good condition. The only body damage is a small dent, about thumb size in the top of the tailgate, it did not break the paint and it is covered with the tailgate cap. I just had the oil changed, tires balanced and rotated and the state inspection done (7/15/14). If you're looking for a clean, well cared for low mileage 5.9 CTD here it is. The truck is also listed for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early . You are welcome to arrange to see the truck in person if you live nearby. For local pick up only, if you want to have the truck shipped, any arrangements are your responsibility. I will require a 500 dollar deposit immediately after the auction end and payment in full with a cashiers check drawn on a major bank or a cash wire transfer drawn on a major bank within 5 days of auction end. My reserve is in line with Kelley Bluebook private sale values so please, no messages asking my reserve or "best price".

I sold my Viper, but the memories I'll keep

Thu, 30 May 2013

The following is written by auto industry veteran Tow Kowaleski. The words are his own, but the memories now belong to everyone thanks to his willingness to share. If you're an industry veteran with a story to share, contact us at tipsATautoblogDOTcom.
It became the flame that started the fire of belief in the next life of Chrysler.
I just sold a car. Nothing new. Millions do it every day. But my car was a 1995 Dodge Viper, so maybe it was a bit more unique since just 12,000 were built. And like others selling a car that's been a part of the family for close to 20 years, this was a confluence of emotions for me. I was sad to see it go, but happy to have the cash and one less big, shiny, under-utilized object in my life.

Question of the Day: Most heinous act of badge engineering?

Wed, Dec 30 2015

Badge engineering, in which one company slaps its emblems on another company's product and sells it, has a long history in the automotive industry. When Sears wanted to sell cars, a deal was made with Kaiser-Frazer and the Sears Allstate was born. Iranians wanted new cars in the 1960s, and the Rootes Group was happy to offer Hillman Hunters for sale as Iran Khodro Paykans. Sometimes, though, certain badge-engineered vehicles made sense only in the 26th hour of negotiations between companies. The Suzuki Equator, say, which was a puzzling rebadge job of the Nissan Frontier. How did that happen? My personal favorite what-the-heck-were-they-thinking example of badge engineering is the 1971-1973 Plymouth Cricket. Chrysler Europe, through its ownership of the Rootes Group, was able to ship over Hillman Avanger subcompacts for sale in the US market. This would have made sense... if Chrysler hadn't already been selling rebadged Mitsubishi Colt Galants (as Dodge Colts) and Simca 1100s as (Simca 1204s) in its American showrooms. Few bought the Cricket, despite its cheery ad campaign. So, what's the badge-engineered car you find most confounding? Chrysler readying Hellcat V8 with Viper-like power

Tue, 21 May 2013

A monstrous supercharged V8 engine could be in store for Chrysler and SRT products, if recent rumors are to be believed. Allpar is reporting that the forced-induction V8 - Chrysler's first, if this goes down - could make its debut this summer.
The story goes that the Hellcat would be based on a 6.2-liter Hemi engine, rather than on the existing 5.7- or 6.4-liter versions of the company's vaunted mill. In any case, the general consensus is that the motor will have gobs of power. Modest estimates call for between 500 to 570 horsepower, with some outliers predicting a figure as high as 600 hp. That figure would put the output would place the Hellcat awfully close to that of the 640-hp V10 in the SRT Viper, too. Allpar contends that a slightly lower powered version would allow Chrysler to keep costs below that of the more powerful Ford Shelby GT500, which might be a sweet spot.
The Hellcat could debut in a number of SRT products. SRT versions of the Charger, Challenger and 300 are all up for grabs, as is the rumored SRT Barracuda.
