Up for auction is my 1998 Dodge 2500 Extended Cab 4x4 pickup. Truck has the NV4500 5 speed trannsmission. 3.55 gears with a posi rear end. I got the truck back in 2010 and have only put about 7k miles on it in 3 years. I bought it from a guy in Stephens City VA. And he said he bought it local.

I don't need this much truck anymore so I am selling it. Red Oak performance injectors. S+B Intake with 4" exhaust. Timing is bumped to 15.5 degrees and fuel plate was cut by Lloyd at Mid Atlantic Diesel Performance. As soon as I got it back from him I put in a Valair 13" Kevlar/Ceramic clutch with upgraded hydraulics. Ranch Hand Bullnose bumper.Replaced front control arm bushings with urethane same with motor mounts.

New tranny mount. New heater core. 4x4 Posi-lok kit so you don't have to worry about it going into 4 wheel drive. Pull the cable and pull the lever and it goes in everytime. New fuel hoses and removed fuel heater. New shut off solenoid and relay. Boost and pyro gauges. Adjusted the valves last summer and new valve cover gaskets. New brake pads last summer. 305/70/16 Kumho Road Venture AT tires have 90% left on front about 60% on rear. New track bar so no shimmy. You can go down the road at 90mph if you want to. Overfilled the tranny with synthetic NV4500 fluid. Lifetime alignment through Firestone. Leveling kit with sway bar kit are new in the box and go with the truck. Also have the stock air filter and valve cover piece. New crank sensor, water pumpp bearing and fan shroud last summer.

A/C has a leak in a line but will hold a charge for amonth or so. Blows cold when systenm is full. I loaded system with dye last summer but never fixed the leak. Power windows and locks work fine. I put in low mile power seats but the only work forward and back, probably need to wire them to work all the way around. Steam cleaned all seats and carpet last summer.  I know I am forgetting some stuff. Truck has always gotten whatever it needed and never has been worked hard. The most I ever pulled with it was about a 6000# car trailer. The only rust on the truck is in the pictures and looks worse than it really is.

Overall a good truck that will probably go another 250k miles as-is if you keep it up.

No reserve.

Diesel Power finds the ultimate modified oil-burner

Sat, 24 Aug 2013

For nine years, Diesel Power magazine has run the Diesel Power Challenge, this year's grindfest being "a week-long torture test that features seven events, nine trucks, 8,000 horsepower, and nearly 15,000 pound-feet of torque." The road to being crowned "the most powerful truck" starts with a dyno run, and then continues through the completion of a CDL-style obstacle course, an eighth-of-a-mile drag race while towing a 10,000-pound trailer, a quarter-mile drag race without a trailer, a fuel economy test in the mountains and finally a sled-pulling test through a 300-foot-long packed-mud pit.
What kind of trucks get into such a fight? Last year's winner, for instance - who upgraded his truck this year to prove he didn't "luck into the win" - drives a 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty with a 6.4-liter Power Stroke V8 upgraded with a custom intake, Elite Diesel triple turbos and a two-stage nitrous system. Another competitor has a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 powered by a 5.9-liter Cummins inline-six, upgraded with Garrett turbos, dual-stage nitrous, a seven-inch exhaust stack and twin fans built into the bed to cool the Sun Coast Omega transmission. The numbers on that truck: 1,255 horsepower, and 2,063 pound-feet of torque at the wheels. Naturally, as the image above might suggest, things don't always end well.
You'll find all five videos covering this years challenge below. A scene in the dyno video sums it all up perfectly: a competitor leaves his nitrous on too long and the crew is treated to some ominous poppings, he leans out the window, throws both hands up and shouts, "Amer'ca!"

Dodge Charger Pursuit nets quickest lap in police car test

Mon, 30 Sep 2013

We wouldn't advocate trying to outrun the police, no matter what you're driving and no matter what they are. But if you see a Dodge Charger bearing down on you with blue lights flashing in your rearview mirror, you'd better think twice before attempting to flee, because the Charger Pursuit has once again emerged as the fastest police cruiser out there.
In the latest Police Vehicle Evaluation held by the Michigan State Police at Grattan Raceway, Dodge says its new Charger Pursuit AWD posted a lap time of 1:33.85. That's quicker than any of the other law enforcement vehicles present, but also makes it the quickest all-wheel-drive cruiser available to law-enforcement officials. That may not make it the quickest of all time, but that honor belongs to the rear-drive Dodge Charger Pursuit, which cuts a fraction of a second off its AWD counterpart's time with a 1:33.70. But in regions where the extra traction could come in handy, that's as negligible a difference as we've ever seen.
Of course, the annual PVE sessions held by the Michigan State Police take in to account a wide variety of performance tests, including top speed, acceleration, braking, handling, fuel economy and ergonomics. The MSP has yet to reveal its full findings from its 2014 model year tests, but we'll be sure to bring them to you when they are published.

Dodge and Jeep recalling 895k SUVs for possibility of headliner fires

Fri, 11 Jul 2014

Dodge and Jeep are announcing recalls of a total of 895,000 Durango and Grand Cherokee models worldwide from the 2011 through 2014 model years. There's a possibility that the wiring in the sun visor can short circuit and cause a fire. It specifically affects vehicles built between January 5, 2010, and December 11, 2013, and there are approximately 651,000 of them in the US, 45,700 in Canada, 23,000 in Mexico and 175,000 outside of North America.
Screws that fasten the sunvisor to the headliner may pierce wires in the visor, if the part has been removed or serviced, potentially causing a fire risk. If the wires short circuit, they could overheat and potentially combust. The automakers report three injuries caused by this defect, and according to the investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, "there may be a total of 52 unique fire incidents."
To fix the problem, Dodge and Jeep will inspect the vehicles for suspect wiring, and all of the models, whether damaged or not, will get a new sun visor spacer with a wire guide to stop the possibility of short circuits. According to the automakers' announcement, "this condition is not present in vehicles which have not had the headliner or vanity mirror serviced." They will notify affected owners, and repairs will begin in August.
