Up for bids I have my very nice looking glossy black extended cab long box 1997 Dodge Ram 2500 SLT 4 wheel drive with the Cummins Turbo 12 valve with 197611 miles on it.

The truck runs great and is very dependable.
The tires where replaced new at 181431 miles right after I painted the truck.
This was originally garnet red with the gray bottom.
Comes with the double chrome roll bar, chrome nerf bars, chrome grill guard, and visor with lights.
This has the automatic transmission that was rebuilt wth upgraded torque converter at 126670 miles. The transmission still shifts good.
Has the 4 inch strait pipe all the way back.
The last photos show sticker information on the truck
I bought the truck used from Billion Dodge Chrysler Jeep in Bozeman Montana in 07 with  154900 miles on it and it had this 4 inch strait pipe exhaust.  I had a local Diesel shop add the 95 horsepower torque plate.
This truck has a lot of horsepower and torque.
The fuel milage is very good. I will do 24 miles per gallon at its best and goes down the faster you go or the harder you push it.
The paint is still very nice with some chips and nicks from Winter driving but not bad.
The interior is fairly nice with a small tear in the headliner from packing snowmobile hoods in the cab and a few stains that should clean up.
The truck is mostly a no smoking truck and I do not smoke, but I have had people light up there smokes in the truck when I was not in it. It does not smell of smoke but has light evidence that someone has tried to. So its best for me to say very little smoking has been done in the truck.
I removed the flip up fifth wheel hitch when I replaced the box but the bracket is still on the frame and I have the hitch yet that goes with the truck.
The electric door lock was removed from the drivers door to prevent the passenger from locking the truck on me.
This has been a very dependable truck and the only issue I have had is that once in a while the fuel cut off will not kick in. This only happens when the truck is warm so I learned to just run the starter and not wait for the wait light to go off if it is above 60 degrees out or engine is warm.
There will be a few more miles on it because I am going to have the AC  fixed on Thursday morning. I t is just a high pressure switch leak so it will be replaced and recharged.
This truck is good for a lot of miles yet. It has been a great truck I would love to keep but I need the money for health reasons.
I do not know the history of the truck before I got it but since I had it i had a motorcyle catch the grill guard and I slid off a icy winter road in a snow storm into the snow piled 6 foot high along the highway that caused some damage to the drivers side. I repaired the damage replaced the box because I found a box in nice condition and painted the truck black. This was in the Spring of 2009. The front end had tie rods and some other parts replace and wheels allinged then also.
When I changed out the box I noticed that on the old box it had brackets for transmission coolers on both sides.
This must have been done when the transmission was rebuilt. This is a plus for the transmission because these automatics will take almost anything if you keep them from overheating.  I recomend you have them or a large trasmission cooler installed if you want to pull loads or even making it shift in to overdrive under full power.
I never pulled anything heavier than a car trailer with a car on it.

Are supercars becoming less special?

Thu, Sep 3 2015

There's little doubt that we are currently enjoying the golden age of automotive performance. Dozens of different models on sale today make over 500 horsepower, and seven boast output in excess of 700 hp. Not long ago, that kind of capability was exclusive to supercars – vehicles whose rarity, performance focus, and requisite expense made them aspirational objects of desire to us mortals. But more than that, supercars have historically offered a unique driving experience, one which was bespoke to a particular model and could not be replicated elsewhere. But in recent years, even the low-volume players have been forced to find the efficiencies and economies of scale that formerly hadn't been a concern for them, and in turn the concept of the supercar as a unique entity unto itself is fading fast. The blame doesn't fall on one particular manufacturer nor a specific production technique. Instead, it's a confluence of different factors that are chipping away at the distinction of these vehicles. It's not all bad news – Lamborghini's platform sharing with Audi for the Gallardo and the R8 yielded a raging bull that was more reliable and easier to live with on a day-to-day basis, and as a result it went on to become the best-selling Lambo in the company's history. But it also came at the cost of some of the Italian's exclusivity when eerily familiar sights and sounds suddenly became available wearing an Audi badge. Even low-volume players have been forced to find economies of scale. Much of this comes out of necessity, of course. Aston Martin's recent deal with Mercedes-AMG points toward German hardware going under the hood and into the cabin of the upcoming DB11, and it's safe to assume that this was not a decision made lightly by the Brits, as the brand has built a reputation for the bespoke craftsmanship of its vehicles. There's little doubt that the DB11 will be a fine automobile, but the move does jeopardize some of the characteristic "specialness" that Astons are known for. Yet the world is certainly better off with new Aston Martins spliced with DNA from Mercedes-AMG rather than no new Astons at all, and the costs of developing cutting-edge drivetrains and user interfaces is a burden that's becoming increasingly difficult for smaller manufacturers to bear. Even Ferrari is poised to make some dramatic changes in the way it designs cars.

Dodge Dart Registry helps you crowdsource money for your next ride [w/video]

Wed, 23 Jan 2013

To be honest, we're surprised something like this didn't pop up sooner. Chrysler is riffing on gift registries for couples getting married or expecting babies and cross-pollinating it with a social media funding website like Kickstarter to help customers buy its 2013 Dodge Dart. The Dodge Dart Registry allows people to build and customize a new Dart exactly how they want it, then let other people purchase some or all of the components as gifts.
The registry lets you add features like dark headlights, dual exhaust, various wheels and even interior options without choosing a specific trim level. This sounds a lot like the system Scion uses to let its customers configure cars, and this could be a great idea for Dodge. Of course, this system has the added benefit of being a social media affair for you to share with your friends... you know, so they can help pay for some of the parts, too.
The best thing about the registry is that you can configure your dream Dart from the comfort of your home computer, which strikes us as much better than walking around Bed, Bath and Beyond for the better part of an afternoon with an electronic scanner. The one thing that Dodge doesn't offer? "Thank You" cards. Those are on you.
