1996 Dodge Ram 1500 on 2040-cars
Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, United States
This truck was used by my company to promote CNG vehicles and was originally a municipal vehicle FACTORY CONVERTED from the southwest when new. I am second owner. It has had all the necessary vehicle maintainance that would be needed. The truck has a new Pennsylvania inspection which is a very strict vehicle inspection where tires must not be worn and there cannot be any exhaust leaks, brakes are checked and there cannot be any rust holes is places. The tailpipe looks like the day it was put on. Nice and shiney. This vehicle passed the state emissions inspection also. A new battery and new tires were added in July. The truck had a paint job about a year ago. It has a new interior with cloth power seats and tilt wheel. It has the original plastic bed liner. There are no rust spots that I can find making this a remarkable vehicle. The truck has tremendous power and will pull a heavy load over mountains as I have done that. It is rated as a 3/4 ton vehicle. The air conditioning blows VERY cold, typical of a desert vehicle and rather quickly. The engine oil is as clean as the oil coming out of a can. Because there is no carbon to burnt the oil stays clean, reducing the need to change as often. There are no engine leaks. The truck has a 12 gge tank and everything is factory installed. The tank date has expired, but it was a 15 year and now they are 20’s for the same tank. I would not be concerned unless your state has inspections of these. Ours does not, thus it passes vehicle inspections. I was very satisfied when I bought the vehicle and I only made it better. It was fun to drive and I always enjoyed driving this vehicle. We have recently upgraded our fleet to new ford trucks and do not need this vehicle, otherwise we would keep it. Satisfaction guaranteed on this truck. Ask any questions and I will be glad to answer. It is a FACTORY conversion. The title lists this as a gasoline vehicle as we in Penna. have no designation for alternative fuel vehicles. Buyer is responsible for pickup and shipping from State College, Pa. The pictures of exterior are taken before the truck was painted and will show no rust. The tool boxes shown are not included. |

Performance doesn't matter anymore, it's all about the feel
Wed, Aug 24 2022We've just had a week of supercars and high-end EVs revealed. Many of them boast outrageous performance specs. There were multiple vehicles with horsepower in the four-figure range, and not just sports cars, but SUVs with 0-60 mph times under 3.5 seconds. And it's not just a rarified set of supercar builders, comparatively small tuners are also building this stuff. Going fast is easy nowadays and getting easier. So what will distinguish the greats from the wannabes? It's all about how a car feels. This may seem obvious. "Of course it matters that a car should have good steering feel and a playful chassis!" you say. "Why are you being paid for this stuff?" But a lot of automakers have missed the memo. This past week I spent some time in a BMW M4 Competition convertible, and it's a perfect example of prioritizing performance over experience. It boggles my mind how a company can create such dead and disconnected steering; the weight never changes, there's no feel whatsoever. The chassis is inflappable, but to a fault, because it doesn't feel like anything you're doing is difficult or exciting. The car is astoundingly fast and capable, but it feels less like driving a car and more like tapping in a heading on the Enterprise-D. I also happened to drive something of comparable performance that was much more enjoyable: a Mercedes-AMG GT. It was a basic model with the Stealth Edition blackout package, and even though it had a twin-turbo V8 instead of a six-cylinder, it only made 20 more horsepower. The power wasn't the big differentiator, it was (say it with me) the feel. While not the best example, the steering builds resistance as you dial in lock, giving you a better idea of what's happening up front. Pulses and vibrations come back to you as you move over bumpy pavement in corners. The chassis isn't quite as buttoned down, either, providing a little bit of body roll that tells you you're pushing it. It's also easier to feel when the car is wanting to understeer or oversteer, and how your throttle and steering inputs are affecting it. The whole thing is much more involving, exciting and fun. 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT Stealth Edition View 8 Photos That's also to say nothing of the Merc's sounds. That V8 is maybe not the best sounding engine, but its urgent churn through the opened-up exhaust gets your heart racing. It also seems like it's vibrating the whole cabin, so you feel it as much as you hear it.
NHTSA investigating Ram 1500 models for rear differential failure
Mon, 30 Jun 2014The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and its Ram brand following a number of reports regarding the 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup. According to 15 consumer complaints, the trucks' rear differential locked up while in other cases, the driveshaft separated at its connection to the diff.
Nearly half of the reports claim the truck was traveling at or above 50 miles per hour, while two consumers reported that the diff lockup/driveshaft separation sent their pickups into a spin. Most troubling, though, is that consumers reported little to no sound indicating there was a problem with their truck.
We reached out to Ram for additional information, such as how many vehicles may be affected or what equipment might be fitted that could cause the issue. Unfortunately, the company wasn't willing to elaborate on specifics.
Chevy Corvette Stingray defeating rivals where it matters most
Wed, 16 Jul 2014Everything is coming up roses for the award-winning Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, as new data from the North American Dealers Association dissected by GM Authority reveals that America's sports car is handily outselling two of its more expensive rivals.
Through June of 2014, the NADA notes that the Corvette has rung up 17,744 sales, handily besting the Porsche 911 and positively spanking the SRT Viper. Of course, you're sitting there thinking, "Corvette is outselling the much more expensive Porsche and Viper. Sky blue, water wet." But what's impressive here is just how thoroughly the Chevrolet is beating its two rivals, with this data serving as a testament to just how popular the seventh-generation sports car has become.
So far this year, Porsche has managed to move 5,169 911s, according to NADA. Considering that the base model starts at nearly $15,000 more than the most heavily optioned Stingray, and that Porsche owners have a vast, expensive options catalogue to select from, Stuttgart's sales are still plenty impressive in relation to the nearly 18,000 Corvettes sold.
