84 Dodge D150 Hot rod truck. This truck runs and drives good. Has had a lot done to it. I will start with the motor. It has a 360 from the 70s I believe in it. Has Rare "J" code heads on it which are hard to find and great heads. If you are a dodge guy, then you know these are worth a lot themselves. The motor is built! I did not build it so i am not 100% what all as been done to it, but this is what I do know. Acel racing coil, new alternator, new coil and resistor new more modern distributor. Has heads on it going back to dual flowmasters turn downs. Lunati Cam and lifters but I do not know what size cam. Was told buy previous owner that heads had been polished but cannot verify that. Motor runs strongs and sounds great. Really rumbles and sounds good with the cam and flowmasters. Truck was built to drag race, but i have tuned it down some so can be a driver. Does have a fuel cell that is hooked up in the bed and comes with a set of slicks on old dodge wheels. The wheels on the truck are in great shape, but tires are 30%. Has disc brakes up front and they need turned or replaced as they are bouncy. One tire is a little bouncy as well. The inside of the truck is mostly original. No gauges work except aftermarket tach that is mounted poorly on the dash. Dash has some cracks from mounting aftermarket gauges. Seat looks pretty good, door panels are pictured. Outside doorhandle on passenger side stopped working. Headlights and tail lights work as well as turn signals. Truck is an automatic with b&m slap stick with a transmission brake. Paint is only a few months old and is Vamillion red enamel. Looks great from a distance and pretty good up close but just has a little bit of trash and some sand marks. Was never cut and buffed. Really shines and looks great in the sun. Door jams and all were not painted, as they were already red. Truck is NOT a show truck but a great cruiser with a lot of power, or a weekend racer. Very stout truck for how heavy it is.Points were trying to stick some in it the other day. I have tried to describe it best I can. I have had this truck a while and drove to cruise in's with it and it turns a lot of heads, especially when you start it up! Alabama residence will owe sales tax. Truck is sold as-is. and pick up only. Buyer is to arrange for pickup.  Any questions welcome to call at 256-710-4356. reasonable reserve.$500 non refundable deposit to be made within 24hrs of auction end. Thanks!

Chrysler recalling 278,222 trucks and SUVs over bad rear axles

Thu, 14 Feb 2013

Chrysler has issued a recall of 278,222 light trucks and sport utility vehicles here in the United States. The reason: bad rear axles. Specifically, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the rear axle pinion nut may lack a necessary adhesive patch, which could cause the nut to loosen. If this happens, the axle can lock up, which could cause all sorts of havoc on the road.
This is an expansion of the rear axle recall announced in October of last year, where 44,300 Ram 1500 and Dodge Dakota models were being called in. At that time, 12 accidents had been reported due to the faulty axle pinion nut.
Affected vehicles include Ram 1500 trucks from the 2009 to 2012 model years, Dodge Dakota models from the 2009 to 2011 model years, and both the Chrysler Aspen and Dodge Durango SUV twins, both from the 2009 model year only.

1979 Dodge Li'l Red Express in Generation Gap showdown with 1933 Ford Pickup

Fri, 18 Jul 2014

Auto enthusiasts love a good debate, whether it's Mustang versus Camaro or Ferrari against Lamborghini. But how about a battle between two very different vintages of classic pickup trucks? In this case, the fight is between a 1979 Dodge Li'l Red Express and a 1933 Ford Model 46 truck with a flathead V8.
The shootout comes courtesy of the internet series Generation Gap, and its concept is super-simple. One guy prefers classics, and the other likes newer rides. They choose a category, pick two vehicles and put them head to head. In this case, neither is exactly modern, though. The Ford is more than old enough to receive Social Security checks, and the Dodge is hardly a young whippersnapper.
Other than both being pickups, these two models were made to serve very different functions. The Li'l Red Express was basically the progenitor of today's muscle trucks, with a big V8 that made it one of the quickest new models in its day (admittedly, 1979 was a rough time for automotive performance). On the other hand, the '33 Ford was just meant to work, with little pretense for anything else. One of the hosts describes it as "the simplest, most difficult" vehicle he's driven because of the tricky double clutchwork necessary to shift gears. Scroll down to watch the video and try to decide which of these two American classics you would rather have in your garage.

2014 Dodge Journey Crossroad

Thu, 17 Jul 2014

Watchers of the auto industry will notice a theme among the formerly bankrupted American automakers, General Motors and Chrysler. There are the post-bankruptcy vehicles, and the pre-bankruptcy vehicles. The former, in the case of Chrysler, include the Jeep Grand Cherokee, as well as the 200 and 300. For GM, there's the Cadillac ATS, Chevrolet Impala and Buick Encore, among others. These vehicles have the freshest styling, with sharp exteriors and well-crafted interiors, as well as advanced powertrains and well-sorted chassis.
As for the pre-bankruptcy vehicles, they tend to be easy to spot. Most suffer from inferior driving dynamics, cheaper interiors, poorer fuel economy and often homely looks (we know, there were some decent cars before the bankruptcy, but they were pretty heavily outweighed by the bad ones). Think late, last-generation Chevrolet Impala or Chrysler 200. Increasingly, though, we're seeing vehicles that split the balance between pre- and post-bankruptcy. Vehicles like the Dodge Journey.
The Journey debuted in 2007 as a 2008 model year vehicle, meaning it should fall into the latter category. But heavily breathed upon in 2011, it now enjoys a new, 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, a big, critically acclaimed touchscreen display and in the case of today's tester, a new-for-2014 Crossroad spec.
