Here is a 1942 dodge powerwagon WC truck that I use hauling my hay wagon. It started life as a military vehicle open cab truck. It is 4 wheel drive and it does work. It is equiped with the 4:89 gears both front and rear. I installed a closed cab from a 1947 dodge truck and a homemade 6 foot by 6 foot flatbed. This truck is not stock but modifiied with the following: The engine is a Chevrolet 350 Small block bored .030 with a RV cam and roller rockers. Sitting on top is an Elderbrock carb. and intake. There are two electric fans in front of the original radiator to keep it cool aswell as a transmission cooler to keep the trans. cool. It has side pipe mufflers mounted behind the cab as stacks. It has electronic ignition and a 350 turbo automatic transmission with shift kit tied to the original single speed transfer case. I reinstalled the original hand parking brake back on it when doing the conversion.I installed power brakes(the booster and master cylinder are off a 1997 dodge 1500) on the truck with disc. brakes on the front (1978 chevrolet calipers and rotors)and used the original 14 inch drum brakes on the rear. It also has power steering but the steering is a little loose and leaking from the gear box. The steering linkages are from a M37 military truck.I machined a custom dash cluster and used 1950's dodge passenger car gauges(they are not hooked up). The seats are from a 1991 honda crx and aren't mounted down. It has a 11 gallon fuel cell mounted under the back of the bed with an access through the bed. The battery box is also under the bed behind the cab.The tachometer works as well as the 1942 GMC heater box and the roll out windshield. The head lights and tail lights work aswell as do the blackout lights although the blackout lights aren't hooked up.The tires are about worn out and the driverside outer rear tire has a bad valve stem so it doesn't hold air for very long. This is not a new truck it does have age on it as it is a 71 year old truck. There is the usual rust associated with a truck this old. There aren't any turn signals on it as it isn't street legal. This truck doesn't have a title and is for sell as is. I reserve the right to cancel this auction at any time as I also have it forsale localy. Winning bidder is responsible for pick up and transporting it. I require $1000.00 deposit within 24 hours of auction end and full payment Required within 7 days of auction close.

Dodge gives 2015 Viper slight power increase, new GT model
Tue, 02 Sep 2014With its troubling sales figures, the newly rechristened SRT Dodge Viper needs to come out swinging for 2015. To do that, Dodge has made a number of tweaks and changes that will hopefully carry the V10-powered sports car into more successful days.
First up for 2015 is a new GT model, which aims to marry the reasonable price of the base car with the adjustable suspension and trick stability control program of the GTS model. The GT also sports a cabin that's covered in Alcantara suede and Nappa leather as standard.
Also new for 2015 is the SRT TA 2.0 Special Edition, which expands on last year's Viper TA by adding new aerodynamic bits and bobs, including a larger rear wing, which ups downforce at 150 miles per hour from 278 pounds to 400 pounds.
Chrysler expecting up to 200,000 9-speed transmissions for 3 models this year
Tue, 22 Jan 2013Striving for improved fuel economy, we already knew that Chrysler will begin using a nine-speed automatic transmission in some of its new products this year, but what we haven't known is that volume at which this gearbox will be used. According to Bloomberg, Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne has been quoted as saying that the automaker expects to sell close to 200,000 units equipped with this new transmission in 2013. Those gear-rich trannies will be spread out across three models, consisting of the redesigned Chrysler 200, the still-unnamed Jeep Liberty replacement and the Dodge Dart.
This transmission should play a pivotal role in making Chrysler vehicles more competitive in their respective segments. Just for comparison, one of the Dart's key competitors, the Toyota Corolla, still uses a four-speed automatic, and a previous report indicates that the next-generation 200 could get up to 38 miles per gallon on the highway, which is better than most non-hybrid midsize sedans on the market. Marchionne says that the new Jeep model is expected during the second quarter of this year, but there is no word as to when the new 200 or nine-speed Dart will debut, but clearly Dodge would like to have the transmission in its compact yesterday. As for that volume figure, it definitely doesn't seem out of reach since the Dart, Liberty and 200 combined for a total of more than 225,000 units in 2012.
How many more gears can we expect in future cars? Probably not many more, since the CEO of transmission-builder ZF, Stefan Sommer, previously stated that nine speeds was the "natural limit" for transmissions.
The Dodge Neon is coming back... to Mexico
Tue, Mar 15 2016It's been a long time since we've seen a new Dodge Neon putt-putting around. But soon it will be back, and in North America, too, if you want to get technical about it. But this time, the Neon will be limited exclusively to Mexico. According to Ward's Auto, FCA is planning to import the Fiat Tipo to Mexico, but rebadged under the Dodge brand and with the Neon nameplate on the trunk... even if it doesn't have those signature round headlights, or a three-speed automatic transmission. Never heard of the Fiat Tipo? It debuted almost a year ago as the Aegea Project, and went into production shortly thereafter – similarly called the Egea in Turkey where it's made, but the Tipo in other European markets. It's a budget-oriented, C-segment compact with a range of four-cylinder engines, and though designed from the get-go as a four-door sedan, it rolled into Geneva last month in hatchback and wagon forms as well. The Tipo is built at the Tofas plant in Bursa, Turkey, alongside the Fiat Doblo – which is also shipped over to North America, rebadged as the Ram ProMaster City. In the Mexican market, FCA also sells the Fiat Siena sedan as the Dodge Vision, the Mitsubishi Mirage rebadged as the Dodge Attitude, and the Fiat Strada as the Ram 700 – all nameplates exclusive to our neighbors to the south. Whatever its origin, it'll be interesting to see a Neon again the next time we venture South of the Border – particularly considering that the Neon was arguably the last time that Chrysler had a competitive compact on its hands. The Caliber that followed never gained the same kind of traction, so to speak, and FCA recently ceased production (for the time being at least) of the Dodge Dart and Chrysler 200 to focus on larger trucks crossovers – the likes of which the Caliber tried to emulate (in style, if not in substance).
