1978 Dodge Powerwagon Ext Cab 4x4 Shortbox Rare, 38500 Actual Miles!!! on 2040-cars
Mayer, Minnesota, United States
For sale Very rare bodystyle combination of the extended cab and short box. I bought it 8 years ago and drove it from Pittsburgh to Minneapolis. Overall it is in decent shape for being a 35 year old truck! The good: Only 39000 actual miles. Originally from Pennsylvania. 360 with 2-barrel carb, plenty of power/torque. 2 1/2 aluminum straight pipe dual exhaust with glasspack mufflers and 3 chrome tips that exit in front of the rear tires. Sounds great, very loud!! Full-time 4x4. Newer battery, alternator, voltage regulator, radiator. Transmission shifts smooth, tight steering for an old 4x4 truck. No cracks in dash. Speedometer/odometer works. The bad: Has sat for most of the last 3 years. Starts right up and runs/idles good, but could probably use a tune up and some carb tweaking. Since it has sat, I would recommend trailering/shipping it. Has some rust that is starting to show (see pictures). Fuel gauge does not work. Came from the factory with no radio. My original plan was to restore it. Would be an easy restoration project or leave as is. I hate to get rid of it, but I need to relocate for work and wont have room for it anymore. |

Viper owners raising money to retake the Nurburgring lap record
Thu, Jan 19 2017Nurburgring lap times unofficial as they may be Β are the locker room comparison contest of the automotive world. For several years, the lap record of 7:12:13 was held by a 2011 Dodge Viper ACR. The Viper and America were the rulers of the roost until the usurper, the Porsche 918, came in a stole the crown. The death knell is ringing for the Viper, and a group of owners are raising money to send the car to the 'Ring for one last chance at glory. The current Dodge Viper ACR is an astonishingly capable car. All of the flaws that make it miserable to live with everyday - stiff suspension, obnoxious exhaust, speed-bump-gouging splitter - make it one of the most formidable road-legal track machines ever created. Unfortunately, that single-purpose nature turned off a lot of customers, and slow sales have led to the end of Viper production. The Viper holds lap records on more than a dozen of tracks, but, like a driver winning the Indianapolis 500, only one belt notch truly matters. The ViperExchange is willing to supply two ACRs and two drivers well versed in the Nurburgring in order to retake the record. The problem with attempting to set the record is mostly down to logistics. According to the GoFundMe page, the total cost to send the cars, pay for the track, the supplies, and operating expenses is about $150,000 and $200,000. The group says this is entirely a volunteer effort and are asking for donations to fund the Viper's return. Those wishing to help replant the stars and stripes and fill the forests of Germany with the truck-like roar of an odd-firing V10 can donate online. If they fall short, donations will be returned. The 2017 Dodge Charger Pursuit will always watch your back
Thu, Feb 9 2017Police cruisers spend the majority of their life parked and idle, waiting for the call to action. A parked car is a vulnerable one, especially when there may be incentive to disable or destroy that vehicle. FCA has worked with InterMotive, Inc., to supply safety technology that will detect movement behind the vehicle through the combined use of radar and the rear-view camera. Even better, FCA is putting this tech in every 2017 Dodge Charger Pursuit at no extra cost. According to InterMotive, the Officer Protection Package is designed to help awareness with an officer is parked and working inside the vehicle. The system will provide an alert if there is anyone moving behind the vehicle to ambush the officer. The system plugs into the OBDII port and is secured under the dash. The device can then be manually switched on. This triggers the rear parking sensors to activate and. If any movement is detected, the officer can look behind the car through the rear-view camera. The system will automatically lock the doors, roll up the windows and flash the taillights. No word on how much the system will cost for non-2017 vehicles, but it is available for order right now.
