For sale is a VERY RARE 1970 Dodge W200 CREW CAB truck. This truck is very rare because Dodge didn't make very many trucks with a four door option back in the 70's so this really is quite a collectable. The truck runs and drives perfect fine the engine is a 318 Chrysler engine and behind it is a four speed transmission with a granny low, with a divorced transfer case behind that, and yes the 4x4 works beautifully. The truck can be driven anywhere and I do. The truck is used for around town errands and to show off. It was originally going to be restored, but well we all know how those projects go, and hence it hasn't gone anywhere. The truck has 36XXX original miles, most of its life was spent as a fire truck up in the woods of ND and wasn't called out much hence the low miles. I bought the truck probably 5 years ago and I just haven't had the time or money to restore it. I live in Daytona Beach, Fl, and the more it sits the more it rusts and I hate to see this truck rust away so I would rather sell it to someone else. I love this truck and you will catch plenty of necks breaking as you dive by. The rust has gotten the rocker panels bad, and they are pretty much gone the bottom of the doors are much the same. The frame is great no real rust to speak of, and the same goes for the roof there are no leaks anywhere minus where some of the door jams don't catch quite right and door stays ajar. Long of the short of it is this truck needs some work. The truck though is very rare and worth some serious money. At auction as I have seen trucks like these can go for 35,000, this truck is no where near that quality though and it may cost you 7,500 - 10,000 to get it there but it would pay for itself, and it would truly make someone an awesome truck.

NHTSA closes investigation on 4.7M FCA power modules, no recall

Thu, Jul 30 2015

FCA US hasn't had the best time with recalls as of late. Not only did the company recently agree to greater safety oversight and paid $105 million to the government, that came just days after hacking fears prompted a 1.4-million model recall campaign. However, a recent decision to close an investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration means that the automaker doesn't have to worry about another major recall possibly affecting 4.7 million vehicles, according to the agency's report (as a PDF). Last September, the Center for Auto Safety petitioned NHTSA to investigate an alleged problem with the totally integrated power module (TIPM) on these FCA US models. The group claimed that a fault with the component could cause a variety of maladies, including stalls, not starting, catching fire, unintended acceleration, and airbag non-deployment. At the time, it also submitted 70 cases where this had reportedly happened. According to NHTSA, "no valid evidence was presented in support of claims related to airbag non-deployment, unintended acceleration, or fire resulting from TIPM faults and these claims were found to be wholly without merit based on review of the field data and design of the relevant systems and components." The agency did find signs of an issue with the fuel pump relay in some Jeep Grand Cherokees and Dodge Durangos, but FCA US issued recalls for the problem in September 2014 and February 2015. Without anything else to go on, the Feds don't think it's worth investigating this topic any more.

Chrysler slows minivan production, hasn't built VW Routan this year

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

Chrysler has slowed production of its Town and Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans this week, Automotive News reports. The Windsor, Ontario plant will cut its three shifts from eight hours each to four hours each in an effort "to align production with market demand," a Chrysler spokesperson told AN. Chrysler also builds the closely related Routan minivan for Volkswagen at its Ontario facility, but has not built a single example thus far in 2013.
Sales of Chrysler's minivans fell 15 percent for the first two months of 2013, and a large part of that has to do with the 26-percent drop of the Grand Caravan alone (the T&C was only down by one percent). According to Automotive News data, as of March 1, Chrysler had an unsold inventory of 24,713 Town and Country models and 18,547 Grand Caravans - a 69- and 43-day supply, respectively.
"No sense running full speed now, then have a lot of vehicles sitting around a few months down the line," Chrysler spokeswoman Jodi Tinson told AN. Full production is expected to resume again on March 18.

Challenger A/T Unlimited Concept could be your next Hellcat-powered ORV

Fri, 29 Aug 2014

This past June I spent an excellent day hanging out with Joey Ruiter, driving and discussing his Reboot Buggy project. Before heading home, I let him know that he was more than welcome to keep me abreast of whichever new automotive project he'd get into. You can never have too many car designers and one-off fabricators in your Rolodex, right?
Ruiter recently made good with the follow-up, emailing me with details on this Dodge Challenger A/T Untamed Concept that pushes a lot of hot buttons for the muscle car and off-roading enthusiasts.
This all-terrain Mopar is a lot more than a Challenger body dropped on a truck chassis, too. A materialized version of the A/T would included a completely new, long-travel suspension, skid plates, body armor and rock sliders, and obviously flared fenders to help accommodate a hellacious set of off-road-ready tires. The dramatically revised underpinnings would be topped with a slick graphics package and a killer lower light bar, all making the A/T look quite cohesive in its own, radical way. And the result would be a car no longer limited to mere road-driving.
