Up for sale is one Very rare Dodge D100 Sweptside pick up truck. I am selling this truck for my friend who I have sold 40 other cars for. She is the Widow of a collector and found herself with a vast array of old cars when her Husband passed. This is the last one and by far one of the rarest. This truck was custom built at the factory by the Dodge Special Equipment group(SEG). These were hand crafted trucks built to compete with the Chevy Cameo. SEG took 1957 Dodge station wagon fenders from the assembly line and custom built the beds, tailgate, bumpers and body trim. Making only 180 of these in 1957, approximately 75 remain in the world. This truck was restored 90% about 7 or 8 years ago. I don't think it has been driven much since the restoration. The gas was going bad in it when i got it. I drained and cleaned the tank, had the carb rebuilt, flushed the lines etc, gave it a tune up and it runs and drives great. I also had the power steering pump rebuilt, it works decent but there might still be some work needed in the system. Classic Pushbutton 3 speed transmission works and shifts very well. I feel like overall the truck needs a once over just to make sure any bolts and such weren't left loose. Things like the horn and radio need to be hooked up, etc. I noticed the rubber bushings on the rear leaf spring shackles need to be replaced. But like i said it drives surprisingly well for a old 50's truck. Visibility is really good with the wrap around windows, you can see everything. Oh and you will be seen too. This truck attracts a lot of attention wherever it goes. I've had housewives yell at me going down the road " Nice truck Mister!". I took it to Bob's Big boy here in California and guys hadn't seen one of these trucks in 30+ years. Did I say Rare?
Anyhow here are the goods the bads and the unknowns:
GOOD:
Have clear california title
Pretty Decent paint job, Looks good from 5'. Is actually pretty good shape. I think it was mostly covered since it was painted, However i did find a few drips in the interior paint and some chips where the hood rubbed on the body.
Chrome and Stainless are in great shape, either they were re-plated or are still in very good original shape.
Drive train:
Engine runs well and strong, I don't know if it was rebuilt, but it doesn't smoke and has new freeze plugs and paint. One might assume that it was rebuilt. I have not done a compression test.
Transmission: Drives and shifts well. E brake on drive shaft works.
Rear end: seems fine
Brakes are good
All glass is good
New interior and upholstery
BAD and UNKNOWN:
Depth of restoration unknown
Found a rust hole in inside rear fender left side and a repair right side, not sure if exterior fender had a repair/hole. Front fenders, floors, and frame look fine.
Feel free to contact me with any questions or if you are in the area, your are welcome to come take a look at the vehicle. You won't be let down, she's a beauty.

2014 Dodge Durango

Wed, 25 Sep 2013

Say what you want about the Dodge Durango, but ever since it came on the scene in 1998, it has occupied its own niche in the SUV market - not too small, not too big, tough, able, not always the best on the road and not always the best off-road. If it were a football player, it would be a tight-end that can block and catch. If it were a hamburger - a double burger with cheese and bacon, but not the Whopper.
As part of a mid-cycle upgrade for what was already a very capable SUV that Chrysler introduced in 2011, and built on the same platform as the Mercedes GL-Class and Jeep Grand Cherokee, the 2014 Durango has gotten some refinements worth noting that have cleaned up its tailoring and toned up its body and powerplant. The result is an SUV that shows itself to be a very good value in a category full of sticker prices that can run away faster than a kid who's been told he has to take ballroom dancing lessons.
Chrysler executives showing us the new Durango made a special point to reiterate that the Dodge brand is not going away, as has been rumored after the company took the Ram and Viper - the cream of the brand - out from under the Dodge umbrella. Turns out Dodge has been the brand attracting the most young people (who knew?) and has a younger average age buyer than Honda. The Dodge brand historically has also attracted buyers who aren't exactly Phi-Beta Cappa, which some companies worry about. Chrysler not so much. Dodge buyers tend to be more the working, high-school-educated, community-college-educated backbone of the work force in America. If they keep coming to Dodge, the Durango is a pretty good piece of hardware to save up for.

Dodge Challenger Hellcat X is 805-hp worth of charity [w/video]

Mon, Jul 20 2015

Donating to charity is good for the soul. You feel good and help out those in need, and while you should donate out of the goodness of your heart, there's nothing wrong with getting something in return. That's doubly true if that something (or somethings) happen to run on gasoline... a lot of gasoline. For just $3 (plus $40,000 in taxes), you could park not one, but two high-powered Mopars in your driveway. The big item, of course, is the world's most powerful Dodge Challenger Hellcat. Dubbed the Hellcat X after the XF6F, a twin-charged US Navy prototype that evolved into the Hellcat fighter from World War II. Its 6.2-liter, supercharged V8 has been supplemented by a turbocharger, boosting output to 805 horsepower. Because, you know, 707 just wasn't quite enough. It should be noted that the Hellcat X isn't a production model – Fiat Chrysler isn't going to be putting a twin-charged Hemi into production – but that it's a one-off job built for the 2015 Chrysler Nationals at Carlisle. Joining the Hellcat X is a handsome, black 1970 Challenger 440 R/T. Complete with a four-barrel carburetor (yeah, we were hoping for a Six Pack, as well), a pistol-grip shifter, and menacing black paint, this exact car was the star of 2012's "Revolution Reborn" television spot. And if this car's on-air claim to fame isn't enough, rest easy knowing you're the owner of just one of 100 black 440 R/Ts produced in 1970. Now, single tickets do start at $3, although there are larger bundles available, including a $5,000, 6,000-ticket package. Proceeds from the drawing, which is being put on by Dream Giveaway, will go towards New Beginning Children's Home charity, which issues grants to everything from the National Guard Educational Foundation to Mothers Against Drunk Driving. You can check out more on the Hellcat X in the video, below. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings.

2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat revealed [UPDATE]

Wed, 13 Aug 2014

Almost immediately after we drove the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, we began wondering: what's next? Pumping 707 horsepower into the Challenger seemed so crazy - and so intoxicating - we just assumed that Dodge would try that trick again.
Rumors swirled about a Charger Hellcat. Frankly it makes even more sense than the Challenger version. The Charger is a bigger car, and Dodge has never been shy about dropping monster engines under its hood. Hell (cat), we've seen Charger mules running around town that appeared to be the super sedan.
And finally, it's here. The 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat was revealed today at a preview event near Detroit, and it will be a centerpiece of the Chrysler display this weekend at the Woodward Dream Cruise.
